voila ce que ca fait sous virtualbox (javais installé le meme ubuntu sur Virtualbox mais
comme il n'arrive pas a se mettre en plein écran je suis passé à vmware qui lui gere le plein écran : )

(heu... je ne peux pas copier-coller depuis la machine virtuelle vers le windows parent, 
meme en ayant coché l'option "clipboard birectional"
virtualbox n'est pas mieux,  il ne gère pas le plein écran
ni le presse papier !!!!

ca met exactement le meme texte en francais
(l'installation s'est faite en francais dans VirtualBox et en anglais dans vmware

Conclusion : on ne peut rien installer sur un linux virtuel !

PS : j'ai bien sur installé les vmware tools dans le VMWARE INSTALLÉ dans WINDOWS 7,
donc les liens que vous donnez pour vmware pour linux n'ont aucun intérêt pour moi...mais merci quand même de m'aider.

Les vmware tools fonctionnent tres bien pour gerer un windows virtuel, mais aussi

la connection internet dans le linux virtuel

Je connais pas WMWare, j'utilise VirtualBox pour virtualiser des distributions...

Donc il est impossible d'installer quoi que ce soit depuis une machine virtuelle?

ca me parait bizarre quand meme, beaucoup de personnes utilisent des machines virtuelles (virtualbox que j'ai aussi d'ailleurs)
je vais tester sur virtualbox et vous tiens au courant

Ça marchera pas... il y a trop de dépendances et comme l'installateur n'accède pas aux dépôts, ces dépendances ne pourront pas être installées.

Oui j'arrive à me connecter sans problème avec firefox,
la machine virtuelle est dans vmware, avec le paramétrage NAT dans la carte réseau (mais peu importe je pense....
tant que le flux internet passe dans firefox, ca doit etre idem pour les autres applications)

comment tester la connection depuis le terminal, si ça vient de là peut etre?

Tu ne joins pas les dépôts. Il y a un problème avec la connexion.
Qu'est-ce que tu utilises comme machine virtuelle (VirtualBox ou autres) ?

Bon tant pis si ca marche pas avec les lignes de commandes,
Si maintenant je veux installer manuellement le compilateurs sur le site des dépots :

compilteurs fortran

je choisis lequel je fais quoi une fois telechargé,
sachant que ma machine virtuelle donne : type OS : 32 bits dans les détails du systeme?

Pour avoir une meilleure visibilité des paquets qu'avec le déplorable "Ubuntu Software Center" tu devrais installer Synaptic :

sudo apt-get install synaptic

Le gestionnaire de paquets Synaptic dans la documentation ubuntu-fr.

Tu pourras peut être aussi faire une mise à jour.

J'utilise Ubuntu Precise et je n'ai pas de problème pour installer gfortran.

Fait une sauvegarde de ton fichier sources.list :

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.backup

Édite ton fichier sources.list avec les droits d'administration (sudo) :

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Supprime le contenu du fichier sources.list et remplace-le par :

deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise main restricted

Puis tu nettoies les dépôts, et tu mets à jour :

Puis tu essaie d'installer gfortran :

sudo apt-get install gfortran-4.5

Peux-tu poster le contenu de ton fichier sources.list ?

J'ai essayé cette commande avec toutes les versions et ça ne marche pas : j'obtiens ceci :

Donc le problème n'est toujours pas résolu !!!! bizarre que dans la page principale ubuntu
ces choses fondamentales ne sont pas expliquées, et surtout RIEN n'est évoqué
à propos du dépot dont vous parlez dans la section fortran de la page ubuntu.
C'est quand meme bizarre, beaucoup de monde utilise Fortran tout de meme !!!!

Salut jyloup !
gfortran est présent dans les dépôts officiels ubuntu.
Mais la commande est certainement :

sudo apt-get install gfortran-4.4

pour la version 4.4.

et selon les versions des distributions ubuntu :

sudo apt-get install gfortran-4.5

pour la version 4.5.

sudo apt-get install gfortran-4.6

pour la version 4.6.

sudo apt-get install gfortran-4.7

pour la version 4.7 sur Ubuntu Quantal et Raring.

Tu as le détail des paquets et les distributions qui les supportent dans le lien : les dépôts officiels ubuntu.
Note qu'il y a aussi les version 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 dans Ubuntu Hardy et Lucid.
