J'ai lancé les commandes proposées toujours sans résultat.....
A savoir que le fichier "/etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945.conf" de ma config n'était pas vide puisque celui-ci contenait le texte contenu dans le poste:

J'ai même fini par upgrader à la version 12.04.1 LTS, .....et surprise, la carte ne fonctionne toujours pas.
Cette dernière version customisé (effet graphiques sympas, à la "mac"), mais concernant la prise en charge matériel rien de mieux.
C'est presque pire, car je n'arrive même plus à activer la carte via la combinaison des touches Fn+F2 !!

PS: J'ai lancé également tes dernières commandes après le upgrade vers la 12.04.1 LTS, et j'ai l'impression d'avoir un message d'erreur durant la phase d'arrêt du PC..... (mais j'ai n'arrive pas à voir le détail)

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945.conf

une page blanche s'ouvre, dedans tu mets la ligne suivante :

options iwl3945 disable_hw_scan=1

tu enregistre et tu ferme, puis :

sudo  modprobe -r iwl3945 && sleep 3 && sudo modprobe iwl3945 && sleep 3 && sudo ifconfig wlan0 up #patiente 6 secondes :-) et

... re test ton wifi.

PS : La 10.04 commence a dater, tu n'aurais certainement pas ce problème avec une version plus récente

J'ai tenté la solution "wine" décrite dans le post "Ndiswrapper" pour l'extraction avec l'un des .exe.
Le problème est que je me retrouve à présent avec plusieurs fichiers .inf qui sont les suivants (que j'ai placé dans "install_wifi" toujours suivant le post):

J'ai toujours le driver "iwlwifi-3945-2.ucode" copier dans "/lib/firmware" (y a pas un éventuel problème de permission ?).
Une dernière info la carte fonctionne, car testée sous XP sur le même PC est en DualBoot....

Je ne te cache pas, que je commence a être usé par les tentatives successives.....

J'ai testé la solution de copie du fichier "iwlwifi-3945-2.ucode" dans le répertoire "/lib/firmware", via la commande "sudo cp iwlwifi-3945-2.ucode /lib/firmware" sans que cette action modifie le fonctionnement du chipset Wifi....
Il est vrai que cette solution me semblait quelque peu simpliste.....
Ndiswrapper:
Je rencontre quelques problèmes avec les extractions des fichiers .inf à partie des .exe, sur les 3 pilotes téléchargés ("Wireless_15.3.1_x32.exe", "Wireless_15.3.1_Dx32.exe" et "intel_multi-device_A13_R171131.exe"), je n'ai pas pu extraire le moindre .inf via les commandes "cabextract xxx.exe" ou  "unshield xxx.exe".
Les retours des commandes sont les suivants:

Ndiswrapper : oui du bidouillage dans le sens ou on utilise un pilote proprietaire dans un os libre...mais cela fait fonctionner le matériel, c'est pas le principal ?
De plus c'est facile a mettre en place et a supprimer, que demande le peuple ^^ ?
On préfère en général les anciennes versions de pilote (comme pour XP) car plus éprouvé et moins de bug que des versions plus recente...

Mon avis est que l'utilisation de "Ndiswrapper" (comme précisé sur le post correspondant du site) reste du "bidouillage"....
En cherchant sur le net, j'ai trouvé un lien sur un site Intel (qui propose un microcode pour linux "iwlwifi-3945-ucode-15.32.2.9.tzg") :

Si l'utilisation de "Ndiswrapper" est cependant nécessaire, il semble que c'est le driver pour XP qu'il faut charger....

Rien d'anormal dans les retours, mis à part que ta carte wifi "ne voit" aucun point d'acces.... le wifi sur ta box est-il bien activé ? si non, allume-le. Si oui, ben la je vois pas : cache-tu le nom ssid de ta borne wifi ?

sinon autre piste, tenter avec ndiswrapper.

Sur tes conseils j'ai dé-installé "wifi-radar" via la commande "sudo apt-get autoremove wifi-radar".

Ps : oublie wifi radar, désinstalle-le car il ne sert à rien.

Encore un problème avec la Wifi sur un Dell 9400 équipé d'une carte Intel WM3945abg sous un OS Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS.
J'ai suivi les instruction du post:

J'ai donc créé le fichier "/etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945.conf".
La combinaison de touches "Fn+F2" permet bien "d'activer" le voyant de la Wifi mais la carte ne semble pas pour autant être active....
D'autre part j'ai installé "wifi radar" pour surveiller le fonctionnement sans résultat pour l'instant.

La commande: "iwconfig" me retourne le résultat suivant:
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

wlan0     IEEE 802.11abg  ESSID:off/any 
          Mode:Managed  Access Point: Not-Associated   Tx-Power=16 dBm   
          Retry  long limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
          Power Management:off

La commande "lspci | grep -i net" me donne:

Enfin concernant le noyau, la commande "cat /proc/version":
