J'ai le même problème sous Breezy avec une GeForce Go 6400, je suis en 1280x768 au lieu de 1280x800, pourtant j'ai bien les bonnes résolutions dans xorg.conf (et uniquement celles-là pour être sûr).
Dans la config "Résolution de l'écran" dans les préférences j'ai 1280x768, 1024x768, 800x600 et 640x480 alors qu'aucune de ces résolutions n'est dans xorg.conf !

J'ai tenté de rajouter la ligne

options nvidia NVreg_Mobile=0

dans le fichier /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-kernel-nkc comme indiqué dans le wiki: http://wiki.ubuntu-fr.org/materiel/nvidia?s=nvidia mais avec ça j'ai un écran noir au boot (aucun affichage, même avec Ctrl Alt F1). Mon portable est un Sony Vaio VGN-FS315H.
Edit: j'ai vu sur le site de nVidia que pour les marques de portables non mentionnées dans le wiki il faut remplacer le 0 par 3, et effectivement je retrouve mon affichage... mais pas la bonne résolution.

Quelqu'un a une idée ? C'est pas grand chose comme différence de résolution, mais du coup j'ai un rendu assez flou...

J'ai un portable amilo A 1645 avc sis et a l'install j'ai choisi tous les resolution jusqu'a la fin des 12X*X cat si tu choisi tous jusqu' a 1200*800 seulement il sera pas pris en compte (je sais pas pourquoi)

Il faudrait les caractérisques de ton écran (fréquence horinzontale maximum).
Si tu ne trouves pas ces infos, il faudrait la résolution@frequence maximale que peut supporter ton écran.

Il faudra ajoute ces valeurs au fichier « /etc/X11/xorg.conf ».

Je m'explique : quand tu démarre sur ton cd, au lieu de taper sur la touche "enter" tu vas écrire :

linux vga=771

ce qui va démarrer ton install sur un noyau avec des options meiux adaptées à ta résolution. Ensuite, le reste de l'install est identique. La différence, importante, c'est que tu seras directement en 1280x800 sans rien avoir à modifier...Voila.
