Après pleins de galères, liveUSB qui pouvait pas monter les disques, install de nouveaux softs impossibles pour des raisons obscures.
J'ai gravé le boot-repair disque et ca a marché trop facilement trop rapidement !!

tu peux aussi utiliser Boot-Repair à partir d'un LiveCD.

tu dois le gaver sur un cd pour booter dessus

mon windows ne marchait plus depuis très longtemps (bosd au boot). je l'ai fixé en passant d'AHCI en IDE.
boot xp ok + MAJ... reboot et la j'ai plus de grub j'ai un message sympa "Invalid partition table".

J'ai checké mon boot device (hdd unique de mon portable). J'ai retesté  l'option IDE/AHCI rien n'y fait.

Bon je vais tester une live USB ubuntu mais je me demandait ce qu'il faut que je fasse pour retrouver un bon grub.

Ce que j'ai  :
1 HDD unique
  des partitions (données, ubuntu, xp, swap)

Faut que je restaure un grub ? ou alors un MBR puis un grub ?
En fait je sais pas si les deux sont nécessaires. Le GRUB redirige vers le MBR quand on choisi de démarrer sur XP?
Et le grub je le réinstalle sur la partition ou se trouve ubuntu (10.04) ?
