Grub - Ubuntu ne démarre pas
Bonjour,
depuis quelques jours j'essaie d'installer Ubuntu 6.10 en double boot avec Windows Xp, sur un portable Packard Bell malheureusement tatoué...
J'ai donc suivi les indications suivantes : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/tutoriel/comme … avec_ntldr
Tout à l'air de se passer correctement (je peux booter sur Windows), jusqu'au moment de vérité où je choisis "Exécuter GRUB..." au démarrage : je tombe sur un écran noir avec un curseur clignotant en haut à gauche... comme si le grub ne trouvait pas la partition Linux à booter...
Je ne pense pas être loin du but, mais j'ai besoin d'un ptit coup de main ! Que faire ?

Est-ce que tu as le grub qui démare c'est-à-dire qu'il t'affiche tes différentes options :
Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic
Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic (recovery mode)
Memory test
Other operating systems:
Windows XP Media Center Edition
Si tel n'est pas le cas ton pb est que ton grub n'est pas installé au bonne endroit
Être libre est un choix.

Non il ne démarre pas. Quand j'essais de l'exécuter je tombe sur un écran noir avec un curseur clignotant, et plus rien...
Dans la procédure que j'ai suivie, quand je tape : sudo find /boot/grub/stage1, j'obtiens (hd0,5) qui est la partition sur laquelle j'ai installé ubuntu ;
et ensuite je fais :
sudo grub
root (hd0,5)
setup (hd0)
quitC'est ici que je définis où est installé le grub non ?
Je pense comme toi qu'il ne cherche pas au bon endroit, mais je ne sais pas où je me suis planté... 
Sinon, je ne suis pas un spécialiste du partitionnement de disque et pour installer Ubuntu à côté de windows, j'ai créé une partition étendue que j'ai divisée en 3 pour le swap, le système et le home. Peut-être que c'est cette config qui pose problème... Y aurait-il une meilleure solution ?

Bonjour, moi aussi j'ai ce problème, j'ai fait comme dans le tuto.
La solution m'interesse beaucoup, je peut pas trop aider c'est mes premiers pas sous linux.
Ce que j'ai si j'ai bien compris :
(hd 0,0) hda1 j'ai une partition de xp de 25 GO
(hd 0,1) hda2 j'ai une partition de unbutu 25 Go
XXXXXX hda3 j'ai la partition swap
j'ai suisvis le tuto et j'ai utilisé les commandes tel qu'elle puisque j'instale ubuntu sur hda2 (comme dans le tuto)
root (hd0,1)
setup (hd0)
quit
sudo dd if=/dev/hda2 of=~/Desktop/grub.bs bs=512 count=1
quand je choisis GRUB j'ai aussi un écran noir avec une barre qui clignote en haut à gauche
