ATI - Double écran (2 résolutions différentes) -> Un exemple

A chaque fois que je jette un oeil au forum, je vois des questions sur le double écrans, les résolutions à appliquer...

Alors j'ai mis sur mon site Free, mon xorg.conf qui fonctionne en "big desktop" vertical inversé avec l'écran du mac en 1440*900 et mon écran Dell externe en 1680*1050 ce qui fait donc un bureau étendu en 1680*1950 puisque j'associe les 2 écrans verticalement.

A adapter selon vos besoins.

Et pour info tout ça fonctionne très bien avec XGL+Compiz

Il arrive dans certains cas que malgré un tel fichier, l'affichage soit "clone", tout simplement parce que la résolution active choisie dans "Préférences -> Résolution" n'est pas la bonne, 2 clic souris et tout fonctionne.

En espérant que ça aidera certains.

Marche pas chez moi, quand je copie les sections "Device", "Screen" et "Monitor", je me retrouve en console ; sur un startx j'obtient un "fatal error : no screens found".
Actuellement mon duak-head fonctionne, mais en mode clone, ce qui est assez inutile. J'ai essayé de bidouiller la résolution, sans succès.

1 seul device suffit, tu ajoutes juste la ligne "Mode2" pour la résolution du 2é écran.

1 seul screen suffit, mais sa résolution doit être celle du big desktop.

Si ça démarres en mode clone, tu fais préférences -> résolution et tu choisis celle du big desktop.

bjrs a tous,

je n'arrive pas a modifier mon fichier xorg.conf !
il me dit que je n'ai pas les droit nessécaire pourtant je suis en bienen "admin" si on peut dire donc je comprend pas pourkoi ?
j'utilise Ubuntu 6.10 - version Edgy Eft - sortie en October 2006.

quand tu lance ton editeur de texte lance le en root en faisant ceci :
depuis un terminal :

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

mais je me demande si tu sais vraiment ce que tu fais, commr tu ne sais déjà pas lancé une application en root. C'est bête mais en touchant à ce fichier au peu simplement se retrouver sans rien d'autre qu'un terminal.

Pense à en faire une backup avant
en console toujours:

sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/x11/xorg.conf.backup

et en cas de panne (note le sur un papier au cas ou tu te retrouve avec un écran noir)
La restauration :

sudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup  /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Sinon, question additionnelle : comment je fais pour diminuer la résolution sur le second écran ? La c'est vraiment trop petit, limite illisible.

Uuuh...question de mode graphique ? Si tu est ATI, vérifie les options d'aticonfig.

Ben t'as pas tout suivi mon ami.

Visiblement ton écran principal est en 1280*1024, ton 2é écran je ne sais pas.

Donc :
- dans la section "Device" tu dois modifier mes résolutions par les tiennes
- dans la section "Screen", la résolution doit être celle de l'écran étendu, dans mon cas c'est 1680*1950, là aussi à toi d'adapter en fonction de ta configuration.

mon 2e ecran c ma télé, est ce que je doit utiliser forcément une sortie s-video? a l'heure actuelle mon écran tv affiche la meme chose que mon ordi jusqu'a ce qu'à l'entrée de l'identifiant, apres ça fait des especes de bandes blanches....

je suis désolée de t'ennuyer avec ça, mais si tu pouvais m'aider...j'ai vraiment du mal merci.

Pas de souci, le bureau étendu ça ne marchera pas sur la S-Video, cette notion ne fonctionne qu'avec 2 sorties informatiques.

Dans ton cas, il faut donc que tu actives la sortie TV de ta carte graphique. Donc faut potasser un peu la doc de aticonfig.

Sinon pour du double écran réel, le problème vient encore de ta section Screen, tu as déclaré un écran en 1280*1024 et un autre en 800*600, donc dans ton Screen, tu dois ajouter la résolution 2080*1624 puisque tu associe en "vertical".

Tu rebootes et tu vas voir dans Préférences -> Résolution d'écran pour activer cette résolution.

Déjà un grand merci pour ce tuto, sa marche nickel

J'ai un soucis mais je ne pense pas que cela vienne du xorg.conf

en faite j'ai bien mes 2 ecrans qui forme un bureau horizontal comme je le souhaite, le soucis c'est que je ne l'est qu'en root ^^ (demarrage en recovery puis starx)
Dés que je lance la machine en utilisateur standart je me retrouve avec mes 2 ecrans en clone.
Si je tente de modifier via displayconfig cela me cause de gros soucis et sa ne marche pas mieux
Si je tente de lancer displayconfig-gtk j'obtiens une erreur

Je suis un p'tit peu débutant sous linux, pas vraiment nul mais presque...
J'essaye vraiment de comprendre et d'appliquer ce que je lis dans ce thread mais il faut bien avouer que je n'obtiens pas le résultat escompté: écrans noirs !!

Pour ceux qui ont les deux écrans noirs comme décrit au dessus, essayer ça :

A la place de ça :

Salut vous tous,

J'ai suivi les instructions pour passer en dual screen (2× 1600x1200) sur ma X800, driver fglrx. À l'invite de connexion (KDM) c'est OK, j'ai bien ma souris qui se balade entre les deux écrans, pas de problème, mais dès que ma session KDE démarre, je me retrouve en mode mirror. J'ai vu qu'il fallait changer la résolution en 3200x1200 dans Préférences > Résolution... mais ça c'est valable pour Gnome, pas pour KDE. Et quand je prends le panneau de contrôle KDE, dans la résolution de l'écran, on ne me propose que du 640x480 ou du 800x600 pour chacun des écrans, pas de possibilité de régler la réso en 3200x1200.

Mais que faire ma bonne dame ? Ça doit juste être un p'tit réglage quelque part, si un KDE-iste pouvait m'éclairer...

Edit: voici les sections relatives à ça dans mon xorg.conf, à savoir que mon écran principal c'est bien le mitsubishi décrit dans le fichier qui me fait du 1600x1200@85Hz, et que l'autre est un Philips 19" qui fait du 1600x1200@75Hz.

Re-edit : problème résolu. Il suffisait de modifier une ligne de ~/.kde/share/config/startupconfig : passer la valeur de "kcmrandrrc_screen0_width" de 1600 à 3200, et boum, c'est réglé. Merci pour rien ^^

J'ai suivi les instruction, j'arrive bien à avoir le double écran mais impossible de configurer la résolution de mon deuxième écran.

J'ai une ATI X800
Mon premier écran branché en DVI 1440x900
Mon deuxième écran branché en VGA 1280x1024

Actuellement, l'outil Préférences de la réso de l'écran ne propose que 2880x900.

pour commencer ma config :
- portable amiloD
- écran standard SAMTRON
- debian (lenny)
- ati radeon 9000

suite à une réinstallation, j'ai voulu retrouver ma configuration double écran que j'avais auparavant.

- J'installe donc les drivers ATI
- je recopie le xorg.conf (configuré pour un double écran) que j'avais bien pris soin de sauvegarder

Mais ça ne fonctionne pas... j'ai une erreur du type "Screen not found"

Même erreur en utilisant le fichier xorg.conf généré par le driver ati avec

aticonfig --initial

ou

aticonfig --initial=dual-head

Je me rappelle avoir peiné pendant des jours pour installer mon double écran la 1ère fois, bah je sens que c'est reparti pour un tour
