des périphériques qui ne marchent pas

bonsoir
j'ai installé un ubuntu 6.10 sur mon pc dell optiplex , mais le lecteur diskette, le lecteur totem , le son, le lecteur rythmbox ne marchent pas
j'ai les messages suivants
: Impossible de monter le lecteur de disquettes sélectionné. mount: /dev/ is not a block device.

:Totem n'a pas pu démarrer.Impossible d'ouvrir la ressource pour écriture.
le son :Le contrôleur de volume ne trouve aucun éléments et/ou périphériques à contrôler. Cela signifie que soit vous n'avez pas les bons greffons GStreamer installés, soit vous n'avez pas de carte son configurée.
s'il vous plait Y a-t-il une solution à ces problèmes?.

d'abord merci safe93 , j'ai essayé de télécharger des paquets "gstreamer" depuis synaptic

après l'installation de ubuntu  la connexion ne marchait pas, mon voisin ma aidé il a transféré  quelque chose d'une carte ethernet d'un vieux ordinateur sur le mien maintenant je suis connecté avec un modem adsl usb

Pourquoi ton voisin ne te donne t il pas un petit coup de main pour ce coup là?

je ne sais pas si j'ai trouvé la source du problème, j'ai une icône sur le tableau de bord (2 pc l'un derrière l'autre avec un point d'exclamation) l'icône dit aucune connexion réseau
avec bouton droit sur about c'est "Applet NetworkManager 0.6.3"Un applet de tableau de bord pour gérer vos périphériques réseau et vos connexions.
avec bouton gauche "aucun périphérique réseau n'a été détecté"en lettre enfoncée.
comment il s'est apparu là bas  ?!!
comment l'enlever ?

l'installation de la nouvelle version feisty après sa sortie ne peux pas régler le pb? ou une autre version compatible automatiquement avec mon pc.
