pilotes ATI Radeon 9200SE

Bonjours a tous,
je suis nouveau sous linux donc n'hésitez pas a me dire si je suis tout a fait a côté big_smile

J'ai installé feisty et j'ai la forte impression que la lenteur que je perçois vient de la carte graphique.
En lisant d'autres postes je suis tombé sur des bench faites avec "glxgears"......on fait comment pour voir quel score on fait? (gros noob inside)

ensuite j'ai d'abord essayé d'installer les pilotes propriétaires avec synaptic......et après le serveur X ne voulait pas démarrer.... donc plus qu'a réinstaller Ubuntu, pas cool.
Je suis ensuite passé sur ce forum et j'ai essayé d'installer les pilotes libres selon le tuto fournit.... même problème a la différence que je suis parvenu a remettre en place la copie de l'original qu'il m'avais fait créer.

Que faut-il que je change pour que ca puisse marcher?
Faut-il mieux prendre les pilotes libre ou les pilotes propriétaires pour avoir les meilleures performances?
et comment faire?
- si cette question a été répondue assez clairement sur un autre post, je ne l'ai pas trouvé -

bon je suis parvenu a lancer glxgears....
et j'obtiens dans les 700FPS

alfa@alfa-linux:~$ glxgears
3424 frames in 5.0 seconds = 684.711 FPS
3093 frames in 5.0 seconds = 618.502 FPS
3686 frames in 5.0 seconds = 737.144 FPS
3682 frames in 5.0 seconds = 736.339 FPS

j'en déduis qu'il n'y a donc effectivement pas d'accélération graphique conséquente

Une autre question: est-il possible de tester le serveur X sans rebooter?

j'ai une 9200se et j'ai les meme score,je sais que les fps montais en mettant" DefaultDepth    16"dans la section screen(je suis revenu a 24mais je ne sais plus pourquoi,peut etre pour beryl?) , et pour relancer X sans rebooter tu fais ctrl+alt+ retour arriere

Sur la doc officielle on peut lire

Le driver fglrx fontionne pour les cartes à partir de la Radeon 9500 incluse.
Pour avoir l'accélération graphique avec ces anciennes cartes, il faut remplacer l'actuelle libGL.so par celle des pilotes 8.24.8

heuuuu, on fait comment?
