Blocages intempestifs

Avez-vous déjà eu des blocages de machine, comme ça sans rien faire de spécial ?
Cela m'est arrivé plusieurs fois, l'écran se fige, rien ne se passe. Seul un arrêt au bouton est possible. Any idea ?

Je précise que cela se passe sur un portable Acer 3610. Hier j'ai eu le cas 6 fois dont une où cela s'est débloqué tout seul mais les autres fois, j'ai du redémarrer le pste au bouton. On ne peut même pas dire que c'est en faisant telle ou telle manip ou estimer un temps (toutes les herues par exemple). C'est très aléatoire.
On m'avait dit que Linux était plus stable que Windows, mais j'utilise une version de Windows Les Incompris  depuis 1 an et je n'ai jamais eu de tel plantage.:(
Pour l'instant mon passage à Linux est un peu compromis.

Est-ce-que cela pourrait être dû à un périphérique défectueux ou mal géré ? Si oui, existe t'il un moyen de désactiver des périphériques de façon à ce qu'ils ne soient plus détetctés et pris en charge au démarrage ?

c'est assez dur de trouver la cause d'un tel blocage sans avoir de détails, je pense que tu t'en doutes

quoiqu'il en soit, lorsque ton ordinateur se bloque tu peux essayer la combinaison de touches [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Effacement] (c-a-d la touche [<-]) pour redémarrer le serveur X qui gère l'affichage.

Des plantages fréquents sont caractéristiques d'une incompatibilité matérielle par exemple venant des pilotes de ta carte graphique (quelle carte as-tu ? as-tu les bons drivers d'installés ?)

tu peux ensuite regarder dans les logs pour voir si tu y vois quelque chose de louche (Système > Administration > Visionneur de journaux système)

Merci pour la réponse. Je me doute que le diag n'est pas facile.
Je vais essayer ta combinaison si cela se reproduit. Sinon, ma carte graphique est une Intel VGA mais je n'ai plus en tête le modèle et je n'ai pas mon portable avec moi pour le moment.
Peut-être un problème de résolution ?:/

J'ai l'impression que ma carte wifi interne pose problème...problème relativement identique sous Windows où lorsque j'active le Wifi, le poste se bloque pendant un bon moment.
Y a t'il un moyen de désactiver ce périphérique wifi qui finalement ne me sert à rien ?

visiblement tu n'as pas installé le firmware pour ta carte wifi (pour le faire cherche dans la doc bcm43xx : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/materiel/wifi/bcm43xx)

pour vérifier que ta carte wifi n'est pas activé regarde le résultat de ifconfig et iwconfig.

tu peux vérifier ta configuration réseau (NetworkManager) pour regarder si tu ne fais de référence à ton interface wifi

Bon, j'ai viré ma carte wifi interne du portable...et plus de plantage sans vouloir trop m'avancer. C'est bien ce que je pensais, elle doit être défectueuse...:/

Merci pour ton aide Romario. J'ai installé aussi le firmware comme tu me l'as suggéré car j'ai une WPC54GS. Elle semble mieux fonctionner maintenant. Je detecte les réseaux wifi...mais je ne m'y connecte pas encore...

une fois que le firmware de ta carte wifi est installé, ton linux peut utiliser cette carte. Il faut ensuite configurer l'accès au réseau (essid, wep/wpa, dhcp/ip fixe, dns, etc).
