pas d'interface graphique

Bonjour,
Je viens de passer en edgy sous Ubuntu.
J'ai eu qq pb au debut mais maintenant c'est OK.
Mon seul probleme est que je reste tout le temps en mode terminal et impossible de passer en mode graphique.
lorsque je tape startx, une fenêtre grise apparait avec le curseur en forme de croix au milieu mais impossible de rien faire

Tu n'as eu aucun message d'erreur lors de l'installation ?

Pour que les experts puissent te répondre, donne plus d'info sur ta config.

C'est sur un PIII 800
Une unbuntu 6.1 que j'ai installé en mettant edgy dans la source.list et en faisant un upgrade

As tu désinstaller le gdm ?

apt-get install gdm

sinon

Type de carte graphique etc...

bon donne nous le résultat des commandes suivantes .

Moi je vois bien une installation d'un desktop

sudo apt-get install ubuntu

J'ai installé GDN et j'ai vu un progrés.
la fenetre de login d'ubuntu me demande mon login et mot de passe
Je les rentre et apres je suis bloqué sur un ecran marron couleur ubuntu avec rien.
Je vais me connecter en mode safe pour lancer les commandes que tu m'as donné.

Ma carte video est integrée à ma carte mere (intel)

Ta carte est reconnu, du moins potentiellement puisque tu arrive à voire le gdm Tente l'installation d'un desktop maintenant...

A quoi sert le gdm? à gerer les bureaux?

comment puis je faire pour enlever mes anciens noyaux que je vois au demarrage avec GRUB

Gdm sert d'écran de connexion, tu peux toujours le désactiver si tu es le seul utilisateur , c'est généralement metacity qui gère les bureaux (je suis pas sûr de moi lol)
Pour grub, il suffit d'éditer le fichier menu.lst qui se trouve dans /boot/grub, mais fais attention, supprime pas de ligne, rajoute juste des # devant les lignes que tu ne veux plus voire apparaître dans grub, sa peut toujours servir, on ne sais jamais
