quite à me répéter pour ceux qui ont des problèmes :
Arch linux, une autre version de linux (c'est vraiment facile à prendre en main (juste l'installation qui est plus longue (mais pas plus dur))) propose le support du dvd. Lors du lancement du cd, il y a deux choix qui se propose : normal et legacy : il faut prendre le legacy et du coup ça prend un noyau fonctionnant et mis à jour sans problème : installation : ça m'a pris deux heures, et j'ai tout qui était reconnu du premier coup : webcam, dvd, wifi (nvidia les pilotes sont à installer (dispo dans leur dépot)). Je ne peux que conseiller cette distrib pour ce portable (qui du coup installe moins de truc à l'install et donc plus légére). J'ai redécouvert mon portable qui n'avait pas bougé depuis hardy.

(il ne s'agit pas de dire que arch c'est mieux, c'est juste plus facile pour ce portable qui a des soucis avec ubuntu)

result lsusb, with ubuntu 9.04 (32 bit) is used ndiswrapper and that worker perfect, maybe it's because it tried the 64 bit of ubuntu 9.10 now

Very strange I can't see any Wifi controller neither with lspci, nor with lsusb...

sudo modprobe -r fujitsu-laptop && lspci && lsusb && sudo modprobe fujitsu-laptop

This will temporally remove fujitsu-laptop module and see what is displayed. It reactivates it afterwards.

Cette commande va temporairement supprimer le module fujitsu-laptop pour voir ce qui s'affiche. Il est ensuite réactivé.

Pour ceux qui ont compilé le noyau mais qui on pas le lecteur de DVD, vérifié si vous avez ou pas le fichier /dev/hda, si c'est le cas c'est que vous avez bien le lecteur reconnu mais qu'il ne monte pas automatiquement, si vous voulez l'utiliser il suffit de faire :

sudo mount /dev/hda /media/cdrom

Pour le monter, et :

sudo umount /media/cdrom

Pour le démonter.

Je sais pas pourquoi sa monte plus automatiquement sous Karmic, il y a surement quelque chose à faire mais je sais pas quoi.

from what i've understood in all my reading on this subject ( I have an amilo too and the wifi isn't working )
the wifi controller is
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0bf8:100f Fujitsu Siemens Computers
with ndiswrapper and the windows .inf file I can manage to find a 'device present' but the card still doesn't show up.
I posted all my command results here if you have time to take a look it might help me and marksken.

No luck that way, removed ubuntu 9.10 64bit and installed 9.10 32bit and wifi works perfect with ndiswrapper, still have to recompile kernel for dvd-drive

Même problème pour le dvd malgé mon noyau compilé, il ne fontionne pas, j'ai portant l'impression qu'il est detecté puisque j'ai ceci dans les log :

ide-cd: hda: ATAPI 24X DVD-ROM DVD-R/RAM CD-R/RW drive, 2048kB Cache

Mais rien lorsque j'insère un cd...

EDIT : Question stupide, j'avais oublié de monter /dev/hda, tout fonctionne une fois ceci fait...

Bon si vous avez pas envie de passer en root à chaque fois que vous voulez lire un DVD, vous pouvez ajouter :

# cdrom is on /dev/hda
/dev/hda    /media/cdrom        udf,iso9660 ro,user,noauto  0       0

au fichier "/etc/fstab".

Ensuite il me semble que vous aurez besoin de redémarrer puis ensuite vous pourrez monter simplement un DVD en tapant :

mount /dev/hda

Et le démonter via nautilus.

The cd rom is still not functional but the wireless helps alot .
For those that still have problems with the wifi send me an e-mail and I will send you the .inf that works with ndiswrapper.
