probleme vidage journaux /var/log/syslog et /var/log/kernlog (résolu)

Bonjour à tous



Comme indiqué dans le sujet, j'ai des soucis avec ces deux fichiers qui pèsent à l'heure actuelle 9G chacun!

J'ai fait pas mal de recherches il y a quelques semaines, essayé une méthode avec echo pour vider ces fichiers, ca a marché sauf qu'au démarrage suivant tout était bloqué et j'ai du réinstaller.
Après install fraîche, tout allait bien, et aujourd'hui quelques semaine plus tard, re belote, encore ces mêmes foutus fichiers trop volumineux.

Apparemment, ce sont des journaux qui se remplissent trop car j'ai trop de bugs. Sauf que l'install est récente et à jour.

Si quelqu'un a une idée pour me sortir de ce guêpier, c'est cool.

Tu devrais utiliser les balises bleues <> au-dessus de la fenêtre de rédaction des messages pour encadrer ton long résultat.
Si ces logs sont trop longs, c'est qu'il y a des soucis et il faut les corriger avant d'espérer une machine qui fonctionne.
Il y a des problèmes avec des disques. peux-tu débrancher ceux qui ne contiennent pas ton ubuntu ?
Je vois du NTFS, du fat...

Merci de ta réponse. En fait il n'y a que deux disques physiques, sda et sdb. sda est un ssd sur lequel j'ai mis ubuntu et la swap. Sur le deuxième j'ai un vieux win et un autre ubuntu, ainsi que mon /home. C'est vrai que le partitionnement est un peu bizarre depuis que j'ai acheté ce ssd, mais c'était en 2012 et mes problèmes sont beaucoup plus récents.
Es tu sur que tout va bien se passer si je démarre sans /home ?

Bonjour,

J'ai fait un démarrage sans sdb, et syslog.1 s'est vidé tout seul. kern.log.1 pèse toujours 9.5G
Je ne vois rien a propos des disques durs dans syslog.
Je voulais envoyer une copie du kern.log.1 au moment ou j'ai démarré sans sdb mais gedit a planté faute de mémoire vive avant d'arriver à l'heure dite...

Du coup problème résolu en partie, mais j'aimerais bien trouver un moyen de régler le problème qui remplit kern.log.1...
D'autres idées?

J'ai passé le topic en résolu car les logs se sont vidés tout seuls mais je sais pas pourquoi...
A priori un demarrage sans sdb a suffi...

J'avais passé en résolu mais je l'enlève car le problème est revenu. Mes deux fichiers pré cités font 9.6 Go chacun et la phrase ci dessous est répétée plusieurs dizaines de milliers de fois à chaque seconde.

C'est lui qui compressé les logs et supprime les anciens selon les paramètres de configuration choisis

Merci beaucoup de ta réponse, elle m'a permis de comprendre pas mal de choses qui restaient obscures.

Logrotate est installé et configuré par défaut sur mon système.

Je pense avoir résolu le souci en modifiant le fichier etc/logrotate.d/rsyslog: j'ai passé  kern.log en daily au lieu de weekly.
syslog était déjà en daily.
(Voilà pourquoi syslog s'était vidé tout seul entre hier et aujourd'hui! c'était bien obscur, ça!)


En espérant que ce post serve à d'autres, je repasse en résolu.

Je pense avoir résolu le souci en modifiant le fichier etc/logrotate.d/rsyslog: j'ai passé  kern.log en daily au lieu de weekly.
syslog était déjà en daily.
(Voilà pourquoi syslog s'était vidé tout seul entre hier et aujourd'hui! c'était bien obscur, ça!)


En espérant que ce post serve à d'autres, je repasse en résolu.

Manifestement le système essaye tous les "formats" de partition qu'il connaît. Et comme aucun ne semble fonctionner, il recommence régulièrement.
Il faudrait déjà voir ce que c'est, cette partition... Et d'autre part, si le système essaye de la monter, elle est sûrement inventoriée dans /etc/fstab comme devant être montée au démarrage.
Renvoie peut-être :

sudo fdisk -l

et

cat /etc/fstab

Sur gparted je vois que sdb3 est une partition étendue qui contient sdb5, une partition de données ntfs. Et c'est tout. J'ai dû supprimer le reste, je ne me souviens plus. C'est peut être ça le problème? Ce partitionnage est le résultat de pas mal de galères avec un windows pirate que j'ai fini par désinstaller. Je vais vider cette partition de données en ntfs, on va voir si ça résout les problèmes.

Si tu peux faire ça, vire aussi l'étendue sdb3 (tu pourras toujours la refaire, si nécessaire). Parce que ce n'est pas normal du tout que le système ne la reconnaisse pas en tant qu'étendue et essaye de la monter... De plus elle n'est pas dans fstab. Donc il ne devrait même pas s'en occuper...

Et puis il y a un truc surprenant : dans kern.log, je ne vois aucun message d'aujourdhui.

Ce n'est carrément pas normal. Tu es sûr de tes modifs dans logrotate ?
D'autre part il y avait aussi ça :

Ce n'est pas forcément réglé, et ça semble concerner le pilote libre nouveau (cartes nvidia).

Voilà mon rsyslog dans logrotate:

C'est la ligne après rotate 4 que j'ai changé de weekly en daily.


Voilà la sortie de lspci | grep -i vga

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK106 [GeForce GTX 650 Ti] (rev a1)

Cette carte est installée depuis plusieurs années, elle n'a jamais posé de souci, ou alors je n'ai pas su l'identifier...

weekly ou daily indique quelle est la période de création d'un fichier log. Donc daily tu devrais avoir 1 fichier par jour
rotate indique le nombre de rotation max avant de supprimer les anciens fichiers.
Donc 4 jours max seront conservés

Si rotate O on supprime les anciens

voici avec les parametres d'origine

root@desktop:/var/log# ls -alrt syslog*

On voit bien 4 semaines de kern.log

Pour les logs, en ce qui me concerne c'est réglé, je crois que j'ai compris l'essentiel. J'aimerais bien restaurer la config d'origine de logrotate mais je ne le ferai que quand je saurai pourquoi cette fameuse phrase avec xorg est répétée des dizaines de milliers de fois par secondes à certains moments.

A part ça, dans mon syslog (qui se remplit à vitesse grand v) y a du warning et du critical un peu partout... à 17h40 et 11s il y a ça plusieurs centaines de fois:

une histoire de screensaver, désactive le ou change de noyau, ils disent ça
