[Resolu]gel aléatoire, pb matériel ?

Bonjour,

Je me décide, après quelques mois, à addresser un souci un peu génant sous xubuntu. Pour faire simple, je rencontre de manière aléatoire des "gels" de mon pc 2-3 fois par semaine.
Ces freezes apparaissent de manière aléatoire (rarement successif). En général, l'image reste figé et je ne peux rien faire (CTRL ALT F1 ne fonctionne pas), je m'en sors en général en faisant un ALT SysReq B pour rebooter le pc.

Je ne rencontrais pas ce souci l'année dernière. C'est en revenant des vacances de noël que j'ai eu ce souci de manière fréquente.
A l'époque, j'ai associé ce problème à un changement précipité de noyau (période bug meltdown, spectre). J'ai d'ailleurs constaté au bout de quelques semaines et de changement de noyau de nettes améliorations.

Aujourd'hui ce gel existe toujours bien qu'il n'apparaisse pas très souvent mais cela reste irritant. Je cherche donc à savoir si le souci vient de mon pc ou bien d'autre choses.

Voilà quelques infos concernant le pc, acheté en 2011 et toujours sous xubuntu je n'ai pas eu de souci matériel jusqu'ici.

Concernant la carte graphique, c'est un nvidia et le gel apparait aussi bien avec le driver nouveau que le propriétaire
je suis aujourd'hui sous xubuntu 18.04 mais j'avais également le souci sous 16.04

Ta GeForce GT 440] [10de:0de0] (rev a1) est mal prise en charge par le pilote libre "nouveau".
Il faut que tu installes le pilote propriétaire. Actuellement, c'est le 390.xx, d'après
https://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_32667.html

Bonjour,

merci pour ton aide, je doute cependant de la piste de la carte graphique pour plusieurs raisons:

  • je l'utilise depuis 2011 sous xubuntu sans souci auparavant

  • je constate des gels à la fois avec nouveau et le driver proprio

  • j'utilise déjà la version 390 du driver nvidia

Deux mises en garde
En #1, tu dis

a) Avec synchronisation (s) et démontage (u)
Alt Sys  r  e  i  s       u       b
est mieux !

b) Si tu as 18.04, il y a eu du changement :
Ctrl Alt F3  (et Fsuivants)

Voici une bonne méthode pour identifier la cause d'un gel :


1) Noter l'heure aussi précisément que possible,


2) Après redémarrage (ou dégel), chercher cet instant dans les logs
   (/var/log/kern.log suffit en général. Si besoin, on peut étendre à syslog, à messages, à auth.log).
Était-on le 19/9 à 23h35'46" ?   Alors

sudo cat /var/log/kern.log | grep "Sep 19 23:35:46" | tail -7

3) Remonter la chronologie vers l'explication.

3a)  S'il y a eu redémarrage, c'est simple,
puisque kern.log contient la date (en millionièmes de seconde) à partir du lancement du noyau :
(...) 0.000000] Initializing cgroup (...)
  Donc

sudo cat /var/log/kern.log | grep -C 3 000000 | tail -7

ou

sudo cat /var/log/kern.log | grep -B 20 "Initializing cgroup"

3b)  S'il n'y a pas eu redémarrage

sudo cat /var/log/kern.log | grep -B 30 "Sep 19 23:35:46"

grep -B 30 "chaîne" : chercher la chaîne de caractères et les 30 lignes précédentes

concernant le raccourci clavier (Alt Sys  r  e  i  s       u       b), j'ai déjà essayé les lettres autres que b sans effet, e vais comme même retenter le coup au prochain gel

j'ai pris note de tes instructions et fais un retour au prochain gel

Salut

As tu pensé à une "fatigue" du disque dur

Avec le gnome-disques ou "disques" selon les menus (paquet gnome-disk-utility ) on peut facilement consulter les données smart

?? Les sauvegardes sont à jour

Salut
Les freezes ça peut être un souci matériel mais pas forcément, je te conseille de tester ta RAM avec Memtest, ça peut être long 30 minutes,1 heure... ça dépend de ton PC.
S'il ne détecte pas d'erreur alors la RAM est hors de cause, sinon il faudra changer la ou les barettes défectueuses.
Est-ce que tout le matériel de ton PC est d'origine ?

je n'ai pas testé memtest pour l'instant, je vous fais un retour rapidement

le pc est un pc assemblé qui provient de materiel.net, l'assemblage a été par eux (achat en 2011)

De ce côté tout est propre, donc ça réduit le champs au pilote graphique où à un souci matériel.

Il faut vraiment que tu ailles à la pêche dans tes logs. Tu peux suivre la méthode proposée par moko. Tu peux également booter sur une live, juste après un gel, monter ton disque et regarder les dernières lignes de tes logs. Si tu as besoin qu'on te décrive les commandes, boote sur une session live et donne le retour de :

lsblk -o name,fstype,size,label,mountpoint

On devrait pouvoir deviner où se trouve la racine

J'avais trouvé skype via snap très lourd, je l'ai change en flatpak.

C'est simple, tu n'as qu'un disque donc il y a de fortes chances que ce soit pareil en session live (il faudra juste vérifier avec la même commande que la lettre n'a pas changé

Soit tu appliques la méthode de moko, soit :
Dans un shell d'une session live, tu fais :

lsblk -o name,fstype,size,label,mountpoint

Et tu vérifies que ton disque dur est toujours appelé sda (normalement aucune partition de montée, peut être le swap)

Puis

sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
cat /mnt/var/log/syslog | tail -50
cat /mnt/var/log/kern.log | tail -50

Et tu donnes le retour de ces 3 commandes

Merci !
La méthode de NicoApi ne s'applique qu'après un gel.
Son intérêt est de laisser inchangés les logs de la session installée, ce qui facilite la recherche des causes du gel, qui est obligatoirement en fin de log.
  D'où les

| tail -50

qui signifient "...n'en garder que les 50 lignes finales".
(tail, en anglais, c'est la queue d'un animal, sa "fin", quoi.

La commande inverse, c'est "head"

cat /etc/hosts | head -2

ou

head -2 /etc/hosts

je viens d'avoir un plantage \o/
par contre il n'a pas été comme d'habitude, après gel, le pc a eu du mal a redémarré (écran noir plusieurs fois), je sais pas si ce plantage est représentatif
il s'est produit à 17h52
par la suite j'ai tenté le racourci clavier alt sysreq r e i s u b, seul le b a fonctionné voilà le contenu du kern.log
