Impossible de faire marcher ma carte wifi msi pc54g2 sur ubuntu 7.10

Bonjour

Voilà après avoir essayé ce que j'ai trouvé dans les post, les how-to, je vous expose ma config et je vais me coucher (demain j'aurai du mal à me lever).

Ce n'est pas très grave j'ai la connexion filaire mais j'aimerai éviter le cable de 10m qui travers l'appartement.

Quand je fais Système > Administration > Outils réseau, la combo box permettant de sélectionner le périphérique réseau me dit "interface inconnue(ra0)" et aussi "interface inconnue(wmaster0)"

Hélas ça n'a pas suffit

J'ai commencé par les 2 lignes indiquées puis comme ça ne fonctionnait pas j'ai repris ton tutorial http://wlety.free.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?id=21

J'avais déjà compilé le driver cvs serialmonkey, j'ai exécuté les 2 lignes suivantes :

sudo make install
echo 'rt2500' | sudo tee -a /etc/modules

j'ai encore rebooté

Je n'ai plus le wmaster0 bizarre mais ça ne fonctionne pas.

Quand je configure l'interface en statique, je n'ai aucun message d'erreur lors d'un

sudo ifdown ra0, sudo ifup ra0

Quand je configure l'interface en dhcp, j'ai les messages suivants :

La mise à jour m'a proposé Ubuntu 8.04, je vais attendre un peu, elle devrait bien finir par fonctionner ma carte sur Ubuntu 7.10 ?

fais voir ce retour

cat /etc/network/interfaces

pour wmaster0 c'est normal, c'est le driver natif de gutsy (rt2500pci et on l'a blacklister)
qui le fais apparaitre ce sont de nouveaux driver (de serialmonkey aussi ) mais complètement différent et pas encore au point!

Je craignais d'en arriver à ndiswrapper.

J'avoue que j'ai du mal à comprendre : la carte marche sur certaines machines avec ubuntu 7.10 et pas sur d'autres ? Ou ce serait dû à une fausse manip ?

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

et connecte toi avec networkmanager

la rt73 refonctionne avec un très bon taux avec les serialmonkeys
mais j'ai du faire un strip -S

J'ai récupéré sur le CD d'install de MSI le répertoire /Software/driver/Windows_XP qui contient les drivers XP
Voici le contenu du répertoire :

Est-ce que je n'aurais pas intérêt à installer le driver M2500.INF, plutôt que j'avais récupéré par

wget ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/WMP54Gv4_20050315.exe

Je suppose que la réponse est oui puisque cela vient de linksys et moi de msi.

Pour désinstaller l'ancien, et réinstaller le nouveau, dois-je faire les manips suivantes

sudo ndiswrapper -r rt2500
sudo ndiswrapper -i M2500.INF

sudo ndiswrapper -m
sudo modprobe ndiswrapper (j'ai un doute)

Ce qui m'embête dans cette dernière manipulation, c'est que la fin du tutorial dit de vider le fichier /etc/network/interfaces mais je ne sais pas comment déterminer quelle est l'interface (ra0 ? wlan0 ? ) à activer
... en fait comment cela doit-il marcher avec ndiswrapper ?

Au niveau graphique  ... oh le temps que je manipe et que j'écrive le mail l'interface a changé

J'ai eu une liste de réseau dont le mien mais jusqu'ici pas de réseau qui marche mais il y a eu une petit progression

Bon, je ne récupère plus la liste des réseaux sans fil du voisinage

L'icone a changé et j'ai
- "Activer la connexion sans fil" sur click gauche
- un menu avec "créer un réseau sans fil" où j'ai entré les informations de connexion mais depuis tout à l'heure il ne capte plus rien et il me redemande périodiquement l'authentification

J'ai remis les 2 lignes eth0 dans /etc/network/interfaces

Je m'arrête pour ce soir, merci pour votre aide

fichier /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist modifié + reboot, j'ai retrouvé la liste des réseaux , je sélectionne le mien (après avoir exécuté les commandes que tu m'as indiquées) je rentre ma clé wep mais le réseau ne fonctionne pas (et il me redemande ma clé périodiquement puis plus du tout).

Je ne souhaite pas passer en WPA ... tout de suite parce que j'ai d'autres machines plusieurs OS et que je n'ai pas envie de tout changer maintenant.
De plus, je crois pas avoir un problème dû au cryptage utilisé.

J'ai fait quelques essais complémentaires après avoir consulté le site de ndiswrapper (et un article sur modprobe) : http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/joom … eshooting/

Identification de ma carte :

$ lspci
00:13.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2500 802.11g Cardbus/mini-PCI (rev 01)

$ lspci -n
00:13.0 0280: 1814:0201 (rev 01)

Pour info, j'ai essayé d'installer plusieurs drivers avec ndiswrapper : celui fourni avec ma carte MSI, M2500.INF ..., celui de ralink suivant le lien donné sur le site ndiswrapper (bien sûr avant d'installer un driver, je supprimais le précédent par

$ sudo ndiswrapper -r nom_du_driver

) ... sans succès

Dans la page Troubleshooting du wiki ndiswrapper, ils conseillent de passer la commande suivante (je mets le résultat) :

$ dmesg | grep ndis
[   53.999738] ndiswrapper version 1.45 loaded (smp=yes)
[   54.080051] ndiswrapper: driver rt2500 (Ralink Technology, Inc.,06/01/2006, 3.02.00.0000) loaded

et d'après leur page :

If you don’t see ‘wlan0: ndiswrapper ethernet device xx:xx:...’ message, then either card is not present or the driver is not for your card or alternate driver is using the card. As mentioned above, run ndiswrapper -l and make sure you get “device present” and any alternate drivers reported are not loaded in the kernel.

Je n'ai pas la ligne dont ils parlent ce qui explique que ça ne fonctionne pas, et lorsque j'exécute :

$ ndiswrapper -l
rt2500 : driver installed
        device (1814:0201) present (alternate driver: rt2500pci)

J'ai toujours cet alternate driver alors que j'ai fait des rmmod sur rt2500, rt2500pci et rt2x00pci, et lsmod ne m'indique aucun module de ce type.

J'ai blacklisté ces trois modules dans /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

$ lsmod | grep rt

Modprobe -l m'indique où sont les drivers mais faut-il les supprimer ?

Je pense que si je n'avais pas le "alternate driver" ça marcherai peut-être mais je ne sais pas trop pourquoi il est encore là.

Alors là, je n'en reviens pas le temps de poster ce message je suis connectée

A force de faire différentes manipulations je ne sais plus ce qui fait de ça marche, ce que j'ai comme driver c'est le driver windows fourni par ralink (qu'il m'a fallu installer sous windows car l'exe n'est pas une archive).

L'autre point c'est qu'il restait des fichiers dans /etc/modprobe.d/ :
- ralink qui contenait "alias ra0 rt2500"
et :
- rt2500 qui contenait "alias ra0 rt2500"

je les ai virés pour qu'il n'y ait plus que le fichier /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper qui contient "alias ra0 ndiswrapper"

La commande dmesg | grep ndis ne retourne pourtant rien de plus

mystère ... je n'ai pas les mystères :-)

question : je remets la config de mon wifi dans /etc/network/interfaces pour ne pas la saisir à chaque fois ? ou bien ça ne marche pas comme ça avec ndiswrapper ?
