je crois avoir perdu XP

salut,

j'ai installé ubuntu hier en parallèle de WinXP.
je n'arrive malheureusement pas à retrouver ma partition avec Xp pour le boot de départ.
j'ai certainement fait une fausse manip et j'ai peut-être écraser XP

En faisant un sudo fdisk -l, j'obtiens:

j'ai bien le menu,mais il ne peux booter  dessus.
pour "root (hd0,5)", je les ai tous essayé sans succès.

Je ne crois pas que XP soit dans une partition logique. Le sda5 et sdb5 doivent être des données.
Je pense plutôt que feu XP était sur sda1.

Si tu nous en disait un peu plus sur les systèmes et partitions présents avant l'installation, celà permettrait de faire un diagnostic plus précis.
(XP préinstallé ? partitions de données...)
Tu as du faire deux fois l'installation.

bon, je vais essayer de me souvenir:

j'avais Xp préinstallé.
2 disques physiques: 160 go et  4 go pour mes sauvegardes
le 160 go partitionné comme suis:
- C: Win XP
- D: Les programmes
- E:  mp3, vidéo

le 4 GO, lettre F.

j'ai fait une installation d'ubuntu qui a planté. je ne sais plus ce que j'avais choisi pour le partitionnement.
je pouvais par contre retourner sous XP.
j'ai donc télécharger un nouvelle version (celle que j'utilise actuellement). J'ai pris une partie du dique E pour ext3, et une partie de C pour la partition swap.

Windows est/était sur une partition étendue ?

çà fait un gros swap.

il faudrait savoir ce que tu as fait lors de l'installation.

J'ai bien l'impression que ton XP était sur sda1 et maintenant il y a le swap.

A mon avis tu as formaté ton XP. Reste à savoir si tu peux le réinstaller ; pour celà il te faudrait:
- un CD XP (parfois livré avec XP préinstallé)
- ou un CD de restauration (en espérant que le PC n'était pas tatoué), livré ou que tu aurais fait
- + sauvegarde du mbr en cas de PC tatoué.
