thunderbird s'éteint tout seul !

Mon Thuderbird version 1.0.7 (20051013) installé sous Ubuntu 5.10 fonctionnait bien jusque là... depuis plusieurs jours, il s'éteint tout seul 5 minutes exactement après son lancement.

Voilà ce que j'obtiens lors d'un lancement dans une console :

désolé, mais je ne comprends pas la question posée... comment puis-je y répondre ? Un "sudo chmod -R 755" dans une console donne "chmod: Trop peu de arguments." Que dois-je faire exactement ?

Bonjour, tu dois faire un 'sudo chmod -R 755 nom_fichier'

Il se fait tard ... sudo mv me /home/bed

J'ai fait un "sudo chmod -R 755 .mozilla-thunderbird", qui s'est lancé (pas d'erreur affichée), mais n'a pas non plus généré de message ni solutionné le problème.

As tu par hasard essayé de désinstaller...et de réinstaller (en pensant à sauver tes mails si besoin)?

Bonsoir.

D'abord un coup de gueule : il faudrait arêter de balancer du sudo à tout va (et aussi du chmod -R à toutes les sauces ...)
sudo c'est pour passer super-utilisateur, et ici on parlait de modifier les droits des fichiers dans le répertoire de l'utilisateur (ceux ci appartenant à l'utilisateur, nul besoin de passer super-utilisateur pour changer les droits, c'est prendre un risque inutile ...)

Concernant le problème avec thunderbird, est-ce que la manip. suivante a été tentée :

cd
mv .mozilla-thunderbird .mozilla-thunderbird.sauve
mozilla-thunderbird

(sauvegarde et mise hors jeu des fichiers de configuration utilisateur de thunderbird)

je n'avais pas encore fait cette manip'... ce qui est fait maintenant.

Côté positif : thunderbird s'ouvre et ne se referme plus tout seul au bout de 5 minutes. Pourvu que ça dure !

Côté négatif (sans doute facilement corrigible, mais comment ?) : je n'ai plus ni compte ni messages.

Bon, si mettre hors jeu les fichiers utilisateur fait que thunderbird fonctionne correctement, c'est bien la preuve que l'un de ces fichiers est moisi ...

Par contre, s'il y a des courriers importants, pas glop.

Deux possibilités :
1/ Faire une croix sur les anciens courriels et paramètres, et tout re-paramétrer (solution la plus facile, pas nécessairement la meilleure)

2/ Remettre les anciens fichiers de configuration et chercher la cause de la panne.
Dans ce dernier cas, la manip:

cd
mv .mozilla-thunderbird .mozilla-thunderbird.sauve.2
mv .mozilla-thunderbird.sauve .mozilla-thunderbird

permet de restaurer l'ancienne configuration boiteuse (mais avec les courriels).
Une première piste : vérifier que le Javascript soit bien désactivé dans les préférences.

j'ai opté pour le choix n°2 = restauration de ma version "boîteuse".

Dans Edition>Préférences>Avancé>Confidentialité, la case "Autoriser le JavaScript" était bien décochée.

La seule extension installée est FrenchLocale 1.0, Traduction française de Thunderbird.
Le seul thème installé est Firefox (default) 2.0 Gerich and Horlander

"Firefox" ? Il y a peut-être un souci à ce niveau; sur ma machine (même version de Thunderbird que la tienne) j'ai :
"Thunderbird (default) 2.0 Arvid Axelsson".

Bon ... On peut suivre la piste qu'a suggéré Mori, et vérifier si le compactage est actif ou non.
(si je ne m'abuse, dans les préférences avancées, paramètres hors-ligne).

L'option est décochée, et ça plante toujours, donc ...

Si thunderbird est lancé par la commande :
strace mozilla-thunderbird

la fin des messages affichés (quand l'erreur de segmentation apparait) ne donnerait-elle pas quelques renseignements ?

Le charabia de strace devrait aider un gourou à en dire plus ...
Moi je me contente de remarquer des tentatives d'accès suspectes à
/usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/init.d/ ...
/home/thomas/.mozilla-thunderbird/init.d/ ...

qui ont lieu juste avant le plantage...

Ce que tu peux faire c'est installer l'extension "about:config"
(http://aboutconfig.mozdev.org/installation.html)

et voir s'il n'y a pas des options qui contiennent une référence vers un init.d ...

Tu peux aussi rechercher dans les fichiers de .mozilla-thunderbird ceux qui contiendraient en clair la chaîne "init.d/"

cd ~/.mozilla-thunderbird; grep -R init.d/ *

(c'est quand même hautement bizarre que thunderbird tente de bricoler les scripts de démarrage du système ...)

Bon, visiblement, la piste des dossiers init.d ne mène nulle part (pour info dans la version officielle de thunderbird ces dossiers permettent de lancer des scripts au démarrage de thunderbird, et à la fin).

Du coup, je ne vois pas trop ...

Tu peux télécharger la version 1.5 officielle de thunderbird et voir si le problème persiste ...
