Après MAJ Ubuntu empêche le boot de windows vista

Je possède un lnovo R61i qui m'a été fourni avec Vista et Ubuntu installés sur le même disque dur de 90 Go.Un jour j'ai fait une MAJ banale proposée par ubuntu (je suis novice) après laquelle mon ordi a été automatiquement redémarré. Et là horreur: impossible de booter Vista, aucune ligne correspondante. A la place du boot manager je me retrouve avec environ 6 choix different de boot pour Ubuntu. J'ai vraiment besoin de windows sur cet ordi.

La dernière tentative a été de m'attaquer au fichier /boot/GRUB/MENU.lst, mais rien n'y fait je reçois un message d'erreur "BOOT MGR absent, PRESS Ctrl Alt Suppr pour redémarrer."
Comme recommandé par James Bad000 je me suis rendu sur le site suivant http://bootinfoscript.sourceforge.net/
pour télécharger "Boot info scrip". Le problème est que j'ai été incapable de l'exécuter, j'ai un fichier .sh qui ne s'exécute pas automatiquement.

Je demande votre aide et votre expérience pour me sortir de cette situation quelque peu #######!!.

Salut !

Si win et ubuntu sont sur deux partitions bien différentes, tu peux essayer de tenter des procédures de réstauration du grub disponible dans la doc.

Sinon tu peux toujours tenter les autres procédures pour win concernant le fixboot et fixmbr.

Cependant est tu si sur que la mise à jour que tu as faite était vraimeent "banale" pour qu'il te demande de redémarrer le PC ? te souviens tu de quelles mise à jour il s'agissait ?

Hi,
le problème est que je ne me souviens pas de la MAJ en question. J'avais juste accepté en bloc un paquet de MAJ signalées par une flèche rouge avec un point d'exclamation en son centre, flèche située sur la barre d'outil.

Concernant ls procédures fixboot, je ne suis pas un spécialiste mais j'ai cru comprendre qu'il fallait un CD de restauration installation Vista. Je n'en possède aucun, vu que mon ordi était présument fourni avec un internal recovery system qui ne nécessitait pas de CD(physique). J'ai essayé d'accéder à ce soit disant procédé, mais rien à faire.
Je veux juste pouvoir retablir les choses comme elles étaient. C'était loin d'être parfait, mais au moins ça marchait.

Il faudrait commencer par donner un peu + d'infos :
1) la version ubuntu installée
cat /etc/issue
2) la liste des partitions :
sudo  fdisk  -l  en indiquant où est installé quoi.
3) lister le fichier menu.lst :
sudo  gedit  /boot/grub/menu.lst

Ton menu.lst est-il complet ? Peux-tu lister la fin du fichier ?

Peux-tu donner le contenu du répertoire /boot de /dev/sda5 :
sudo  ls  -l  /boot

ainsi que le résultat de :
sudo  fdisk  -l

Non, la commande ne donne aucun résultat.

Je me demande si tout simplement tu n'arrives pas à booter Vista parce que lechoix n'apparait pas dans le menu. En effet tu as 3 kernels + memtest.

As-tu essayé de faire défiler le menu vers le haut à l'aide des flèches du clavier ?

Pour la commande :
sudo  fdisk  -l  (-L minuscule) je suis étonné que tu n'ai pas de retour.

Avec la commande "sudo  fdisk  -l" je n'ai aucun retour vraiment, j'ai aussi essayé "gksudo gfdisk" comme proposé par d'autres, rien non plus.
J'ai bien essayé de défiler de bas en haut poutr trouver vista mais il n'est tout simplement pas listé. Merci en tout cas.

Tu peux peut être desfois essayer

 sudo cfdisk /dev/sda

voir s'il y a un retour

ou sinon un petit screen de gparted pour voir l'organisation de ton disque..

Bon la situation à l'air compliqué, en dehors de ces commandes de bases qui ne marchent pas, il y a bien un windows vista qui apparait dans ton menu.lst. Ce qui fait que tu devrais voir cette option dans ton menu de démarrage... Si bien que je soupçonne, comme on l'a suggéré plus haut, une montée de version, peut être incomplète... D'ou l'intérêt d'avoir un état des lieux complet avec boot info script

Pour exécuter boot info script :
- tu fais un clique droit dessus et tu choisis l'option "propriétés" dans le menu qui doit s'afficher.
- Tu récupère le chemin d'accès correspondant à "emplacement"
- en supposant que l'emplacement soit "/home/fred/Bureau", dans l'écran de commande tu tape :

sudo bash /home/fred/Bureau/boot_info_script*.sh

- Si ça marche, un fichier RESULTS.txt devrait apparaitre dans le même répertoire que là ou est le script (sur le bureau si c'est bien là que se trouve le script).
Ensuite tu ouvre ce fichier avec gedit, et tu viens coller le résultat ici, dans une balise code (tu sélectionne le texte à mettre entre balise et tu clique sur le bouton "Code" au dessus des smiley)

- si ça foire, fait un copier coller de la ligne de commande complète et de tout ce qui suit qu'on voit si on peut comprendre ce qui se passe. Par exemple chez moi comme le script n'existe pas à l'emplacement que j'ai indiqué ça donne :

fred@Mirage5:/media/Mirage5C/home/fred$ sudo bash /home/fred/Bureau/boot_info_script*.sh
[sudo] password for fred: 
bash: /home/fred/Bureau/boot_info_script*.sh: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type
fred@Mirage5:/media/Mirage5C/home/fred$

pour copier depuis l'écran de commande il faut sélectionner le texte et utiliser la combinaison des 3 touches "CTRL MAJ C"
La aussi il faut mettre ce que tu as copié depuis l'écran de commande dans une balise Code.

en cas d'échec sur le script, indique aussi exactement ce qui apparait dans le titre de ton menu de démarrage (notamment n° de version de grub !)

- enfin, question importante : est-ce qu'avant cette mise à jour fatale tu passais d'abord par le menu de démarrage ubuntu pour accéder à windows ou bien l'inverse ?

Concernant le menu de démarrage, il est le même qu'avant. La seule chose qui change est que l'option windows n'existe plus. Je suppose alors que c'est le menu de démarrage de Linux qui a toujours été en place.

Décidément pas grand chose ne semble se comporter normalement...

Au départ tu doit déjà être dans la fenêtre de l'écran de commande. Peut tu au moins me retourner le contenu de cette fenêtre (toujours en texte avec balise code) tel qu'il est avant que tu appuis sur entrée. Est-ce que c'est cette même fenêtre qui disparait à la fin ou une autre qui c'est ouverte...

Pour info, tu peux venir modifier tes message quand ça ne donne pas ce que tu veux. => bouton modifier en bas du message. ou supprimer... Ca éviter de polluer ton sujet et facilite la lecture pour les autres.

sinon, il faut aussi répondre à mes autres questions (version du menu de démarrage, et quel type de menu s'affichait en premier avant la mise à jour) sinon il n'y a aucune chance qu'on puisse comprendre ce qui se passe.

Ah on y voit plus clair.

Bon j'ai l'impression que dans ton menu.lst l'entrée correspondant à vista ne pointe pas sur la bonne partition.
On va d'abord essayer un truc simple, et si ça ne marche pas, je reprendrais la suite demain, si personne d'autre n'a trouvé de solution...
tape les commandes suivantes et essaye de rebooter.

sudo grub-mkdevicemap
sudo update-grub

Mais surtout garde tous les résultat affichés par ces commandes pour venir les poster si jamais ça ne marche pas !!

On constate bien qu'il y a un Vista présent dans menu.lst et qu'il doit s'afficher si tu fais "défiler" le menu.

Après il n'est pas sûr en effet que cette entrée Vista pointe sur la bonne entrée.

Donc tu peux modifier ainsi ton fichier menu.lst en le sauvant avant :
sudo  cp  /boot/grub/menu.lst   /boot/grub/menu.sov

puis
sudo  gedit  menu.lst  et tu modifies ce qui est en GRAS :

# menu.lst - See: grub(8), info grub, update-grub(8)
#            grub-install(8), grub-floppy(8),
#            grub-md5-crypt, /usr/share/doc/grub

En résumé on limite à 2 le nombre de kernels affichés et on fait pointer l'entrée Vista sur /dev/sda2 et non /dev/sda1

Tu sauves et tu tapes la commande :
sudo  update-grub

Tu rebootes et là tu devrais voir ton Vista.

Il y a effectivement des chances que la proposition de jeanjd63 soit plus efficace que la mienne. Car après relecture de la doc correspondant à ta version il semble que update-grub ne détecte pas tout seul windows, et ne va donc pas corriger automatiquement ce qui ne va pas, contrairement aux versions plus récente de ubuntu...

Victoire! Libération! Merci beaucoup jean et james. Je me met à genoux et embrasse le sol en signe de gratitude (dommage que vous ne puissiez pas le voir). Je vous écris depuis internet explorer, et déjà je me souviens pourquoi je préférais Mozilla sous Ubuntu.
Encore merci à vous, mon problème est résolu. Je vais essayer de mieux me documenter sur comment fonctionne Ubuntu désormais, car j'ai découvert deux trois trucs plutôt sympa.
