[résolu]2 grubs

j'ai trois partitions, dont 2 linux (1breezy + 1 dapper), et 1 windows.
je projette d'effacer la partition de breezy que je n'utilise jamais pour répartir l'espace récupéré sur les deux autres. problème, la breezy est la dernière que j'ai installé et donc celle qui gère le démarrage, j'ai bien un grub sur la partition qui contient dapper, mais il n'est pas ''utilisé''. Donc avant d'effacer la partition de breezy, comment utiliser l'autre grub pour être sur de redémarrer par la suite.

Salut,

1 - Vérifier que le fichier /boot/grub/menu.lst de la Dapper que tu vas conserver est correct.
2 - Sous Dapper : sudo grub-install /dev/hda
3 - Rebooter pour vérifier
4 - Détruire la Breezy

Salut

La solution la plus simple serait de rendre la partition où est installé le Grub de Dapper amorçable (aprés avoir vérifié le menu.lst).

Tu te retrouveras ainsi dans cette configuration.

Edit, les 2 solutions sont valable mais la solution du grub-install n'est pas recommandé (voir ici).

petit conseil :
si t'a un pc-desktop : cree une disquette de boot grub :

grub-floppy /dev/fd??? (suivant ton lecteur de disquette fd0 pour les gens normaux avec un seul lecteur...)

on ne sait jamais...(ca m'a deja été utile.):/

J'avais mis résolu un peu trop vite, maintenant que j'ai un peu plus de temps, je suis encore pas bien sur de ce que je doit faire.

Une autre question, si j'efface une partition, par exemple sda3 avec gparted, est-ce que sda4 devient sda3 ou est ce que toutes les partitions gardent leurs anciens noms?

ça avait l'air super mais root (hd0,1) retourne disk does'nt exist
et find  /boot/grub/stage1 retourne file not found.
j'ai essayer depuis les deux partitions, pareil

C'est tout à fait normal car il faut que tu l'adaptes à ta config.
Pour plus de renseignements, vas lire ceci

Si c'est le menu.lst de la première partition ext3 que tu veux utiliser, alors c'est hd0,2
Si c'est le menu.lst de la deuxième partition ext3 que tu veux utiliser, alors c'est hd0,3

Par contre pourquoi as-tu 3 swap sur ton disque dur ? Ca n'a auucun intérêt !
De plus je te conseillerais de mettre ton /home sur une partition séparée.

les autres disques c'est scd0, scd1. Peut être des disques externes que j'ai branché une fois? en tout cas j'ai qu'un disque dans mon ordi ( /dev/sda)
Pour les 3 swaps, je sais pas trop comment ils sont arrivés là... je vais voir pour en effacer deux en même temps.
Le home sur une partition séparée ça sert à quoi ? Je sais pas trop comment le faire, j'imagine que si je fais un copier-coller ça va poser des problèmes au redémarrage de ma prochaine session?

Ok alors visiblement Dapper est installé sur ton sda4, soit en numérotation grub : hd0,3

Donc si on récapitule, tu fais :

grub --batch
root (hd0,3)
setup (hd0)

Et tu redémarres...

Il y a une erreur de numérotation.

À toutes fins utiles vérifier aussi avec fstab et device.map pour être sûr de bien conserver fapper.

FAire aussi un fdisk -l par précaution.

Si tu gardes la dapper, garde le menu.lst de dapper, corrige l'erreur de numérotation et tu mets dans le mbr le stage1 de dapper qui si j'ai bien compris est dans (hd0,3).

Ca y est le boss est dans l'arène

Effectivement il y avais une erreur de numérotation dans le menu.lst défectueux
Donc :
- si tu as déjà écrasé celui de Dapper par celui de Breezy, effectivement enlève le lignes que tu as citées
- si tu n'as pas encore fais le copier-coller, remplace simplent le 4 par un 3

je récupère le menu.lst de dapper
remplace (hd0,4) par (hd0,3)

non, j'ai toujours le même "reboot and select proper boot device"
j'ai mis un cd de boot et lancé smart boot manager j'ai choisi une partition qui s'appellair HD0 4 et me revoilà sur Dapper, jy comprend plus rien, est ce que c'est tout des 4 alors?
