Resolution en 640x480 depuis mise à jour nvidia
A l'aide !! J'en peux plus !!
Voilà 2 semaines que j'ai mis à jour ma Lucid. Dans la liste des paquets à mettre à jour il m'a semblé voir du nvidia. Et visiblement ça a fait très mal je suis bloqué en 640x480. Dans le panneau de configuration nvidia il me marque pour mon écran Native Resolution, Best Fit Resolution, Frontend Resolution et Backend Resolution à 640x480. Après avoir fait des recherches à gauche et à droite, j'ai essayé pleins de trucs.
- Installation des drivers proprios
- Récupérer le xorg.conf généré après avoir booté sur le livecd. Je l'ai essayé sur ma Lucid et là impossible de démarrer car j'ai une erreur du style "no device detected"
- J'ai corrigé à la main le fichier xorg.conf et rajoutant les resolutions supportées et les bonnes fréquences
- J'ai essayé sans fichier xorg.conf

PS : Il serait franchement temps que ces histoires de drivers soient résolus une bonne fois pour toute. En plus pour une LTS ça la fout un peu mal de balancer des updates comme celle là. Parce que c'est vraiment très chiant, ça me fait même regretter Windows des fois.

Je suppose que tu n'a pas fait de sauegarde de ton fichier xorg ?
Essaye ces commandes dans l'ordre et en redeamrrant à chaque fois :
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
sudo nvidia-xconfig
sudo apt-get purge nvidia-*
sudo apt-get autoclean
Et au pire :
sudo apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg

P.S. : Perso chaque fois qu'Ubuntu a planté j'y étais pour quelques choses (test, optimisation...) alors que sur Wintruc les seules fois ou je n'ai pas eu de problèmes c'était lorsqu'il était éteint.

Ben moi aussi en général quand j'ai un écran noir c'est parce que souvent je mets les mains dedans. Mais pour une fois je n'ai rien fait du tout à part mettre à jour ma ubuntu.

Merci Beffa !!! J'ai retouvé ma résolution !!!
le sudo apt-get purge nvidia-* a bien fait le ménage je pense.
Bon il ne me reste plus qu'à réactiver les effets. Merci encore !!!

Bon je reviens à la charge. Pour résumer la situation, j'ai supprimé tous les pilotes et bien tout cleaner. Je n'ai plus de xorg.conf, tous les packages nvidia-180-xxx ont été supprimés dans synaptic.
Ca remarche, j'ai une bonne résolution, mais sans les effets graphiques !!
J'ai mis à jour ma ubuntu avec le nouveau kernel, le nouveau xorg etc. ... rien n'a changé. A chaque fois que je veux activer les effets, j'ai un message d'erreur précisant qu'il est impossible de les activer (Je ne me souviens plus du message exact).
J'ai installé les drivers nvidia-current via synaptic. Je redémarre et là c'est le drame je retourne en 640x480. Dans le gestionnaire de pilotes propriétaires le driver est bien reconnu il est : "activated but not in use".
Par contre si je désinstalle le nvidia-current je tourne bien dans la résolution native de l'écran.
Quelqu'un a une solution, s'il vous plait !!!

Même problème ici.
Moi c'est arrivé après le mise à jour de "nvidia-current" hier soir. Quel choc au reveil ^^'
Par contre j'ai plus d'infos. J'ai deux écrans un 19" et un 22".
Le 22" a deux sorties (DVI et VGA), le 19" a qu'une sortie VGA mais j'ai un adaptateur VGA->DVI.
Ma carte graphique a deux sorties (VGA et DVI).
Donc, quand je prends l'écran 19", il marche très bien, que je le branche n'importe où (VGA<->VGA, VGA<->adaptateur<->DVI).
Mais mon écran 22" ne marche pas tout le temps :
- quand je branche en VGA (VGA<->VGA) ça marche (résolution 1680x1050).
- quand je branche en DVI (DVI<->DVI) ça marche pas (résolution 640x480).
- quand je branche avec l'adaptateur (VGA<->adaptateur<->DVI) ça marche (résolution 1680x1050).
Et quand j'utilise le 22" sans pilotes Nvidia, il marche (résolution 1680x1050), mais du coups j'ai pas l'accélération 3D, donc je peux pas activer les effets Compiz (logique).
En liveCD, j'ai testé un xrandr qui me retourne les vrais résolutions possibles de mon écrans (dont 1680x1050). alors que quand les pilotes Nvidia sont activés, xrandr me retourne des fausses résolutions possibles (maxi 640x480).
Bien sur j'ai essayé de réinstaller les pilotes Nvidia plusieurs fois. Après un "purge", puis un "clean" (à chaque fois) j'ai essayé d'installer les versions "nvidia-current", "nvidia-glx-173" et "nvidia-glx-180". Ca ne change rien, sauf que le 173 me dis que je n'ai pas de GPU Nvidia. "Current" et "180" se mettent en basse résolution (640x480).
Donc, en regardant tout mes tests, c'est sur que c'est pas un problème de câble, ni de prise. Je dirait que c'est un problème de "cache" : je pense que les résolutions de l'écran ont été mises en cache lors de la mise à jour ... sauf qu'elles ont mal été mises en cache (bug ?). Et maintenant, les pilotes Nvidia se servent du cache qui ne correspond pas à la vrai résolution.

Moi j'ai deux écrans alors ceux qui tombent sur ce sujet faites gaffe à ce que vous faites

Merci pour le xorg.conf
J'avais le problème suite à une installation neuve de lucid + activation des piloteproprio de NVidia
Aprés bricolage de xorg, j'arrive à avoir des résolutions corrects

Par contre, je me suis apercu (depuis) que c'est pas une très bonne solution :s
Quand je lance un jeu en plein écran (qui demande de changer la résolution) mon écran m'affiche "Fréquence trop haute". J'ai pas cherché à comprendre, depuis je joue (c'est très rare) sur mon deuxième écran.
