Problème d'utilisation du driver nvidia ( nouvelle tentative)

Je résume : ai reçu une carte geforce FX5200 en cadeau. L'ai installée mais depuis ne peux utiliser le driver nvidia sans que l'écran ne se fige au bout de deux secondes. Demande humblement l'aide d'une personne compétante.

Par driver nvidia, tu entends le driver "nv" par défaut ou le driver  "nvidia" avec acceleration 3D ???

Non. Simplement le fichier xorg.conf posté est celui que j'utilise actuellement, donc le driver indiqué (celui qui fonctionne) est le "nv". Quand j'indique nvidia, ça plante !

bonjour , j'ai la même carte mais sur un portable.
J'ai suivi le tuto dans le wiki.
Dabord faire une sauvegarde de xorg.conf.
sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.backup
Pour restaurer en cas de crash
sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.backup /etc/X11/xorg.conf

sudo apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-`uname -r`
sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx
sudo nvidia-glx-config enable

Si la derniere commande renvoie une erreur , il faut éditer le xorg.conf

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

et remplacer nv par nvidia.
Mais pour être sur vérifie quand même que le changement a bien été effectué.
Ensuite relancer X (ctrl+alt+bk sp)
Si aprés ça ne marche toujours pas essai avec les drivers nvidia légacy et répète la même démarche.
Voila , chez moi ça marche bien.

J'ai le même modéle de carte video!
Un truc qui m'a dépanné suite à des problèmes de plantage de X:

rajouter Option   "RenderAccel" "false" dans la section de xorg.conf

Merci à tous de vos suggestions.
J'ai modifié mon xorg.conf, commenté la ligne load dri, et ajouté l'"option rendreaccel false". Amélioration dans le sens où j'ai pu me logger mais tout s'est arrêté au moment d' "initialiser les services du système."
