10.04 lts, échec de MAJ (grub 1.9.8 en cause) (renvoyé)
3-boot, XP, 10.04 sur laquelle je travaille et 11.10 pour voir 
depuis le passage à 11.10 et grub 1.9.9, je ne peux faire proprement les MAJ de 10.04, ce message arrive en fin d'installation, ici alors qu'essaie de s'installer le noyau 2.6.32-35 distribué avant hier

si je supprime le grub de la 11.10, l'ancien (celui de la 10.04) revient-il?, car j'ai essayé de réinstallé le 1.9.8, mais il refuse d'évincer le 1.9.9
avec la cohabitation 10.04 et 11.04, je n'ai pas rencontré ce problème.
la 11.10 a été installée (3-4x 
(merci nvidia!)via un formatage)

E: Le téléchargement de quelques fichiers d'index a échoué, ils ont été ignorés, ou les anciens ont été utilisés à la place.

et par synaptic, il refuse de configurer le 2.6.32-35 et me délivre le même message d'erreur.
l'image non configurée ne peut donc être vue par grub 1.9.9 de la 11.10. bref un cercle vicieux!

si je supprime le grub de la 11.10, l'ancien (celui de la 10.04) revient-il?, car j'ai essayé de réinstallé le 1.9.8, mais il refuse d'évincer le 1.9.9
Pour réinstaller une version 1.98 de grub ,à la place de la 1.99 ... Essaye ceci ...

Il faut réinstalle Grub dans le Ubuntu 10.04 ... /dev/sdb6 ...
Avec Boot Repair, en session live...
< Options avancées > de Boot Repair Disk ... (ou Boot Repair)..
Choisis < Réinstaller Rrub >...
Décoche < Réparer le système de fichiers > ceci afin d'éviter un long scan inutile de partitions NTFS, et des fichiers système de ton XP, au prochain redémarrage de ton Windows...
Coche < Créer un boot info script... > pour le poster ici... En cas de soucis...
Dans l'onglet < Emplacement de grub >
Bouton <OS par défaut au démarrage > dans le champ suivant indique le < Ubuntu 10.04 en sdb6 > ... (installera Grub 1.98 dans le dossier /boot de ton Ubuntu 10.04 en /sdb6...)
Bouton <Placer Grub dans > tu indiques le disque qui te sert actuellement au démarrage , apparemment d'après le boot info script ci dessus /sda ...(installera la première partie de grub 1.98 sur le MBR du disque /sda, cette partie pointera sur le reste de Grub installé dans le dossier /boot de ton ubuntu 10.04 en /sdb6, pour permettre de le démarrer ...)
BRD va te réinstaller un grub 1.98 , celui de la 10.04... Au démarrage sur le hdd /dev/sda, tu devrais avoir un menu grub 1.98 .&&& ....
Tu devrais pouvoir rebooter en premier sur ton Ubuntu 10.04 ... Faire tes maj, en espérant que la version de grub convienne cette foi- ci...
Si çà marche, Au choix, tu laisses comme çà , puisque tu peux démarrer sur tes autres OS normalement, depuis ce menu grub 1.98 ...
Ou ,tu réinstalles Grub sur le Ubuntu 11.10 en /dev/sda3 ... Çà réinstallera un Grub 1.99 ...
Mais au prochaines maj de Ubuntu 10.04, tu risques de te retrouver avec le même problème... À toi de voir, ce qui te convient le mieux...Sachant que l'on peux obliger Grub a te proposer de démarrer, par défaut, sur un autre OS, que la 10.04... En modifiant les fichiers de configuration de Grub...

un problème d esyntaxe surgit...

je vais pas arriver à charger l'iso ce soir, merci d'intervenir sur le sujet. demain je vais réfléchir à ta proposition pour comprendre si c'est une piste qui va nous permettre d'avancer... là j'ai un peu de peine à comprendre tes explications... je suis un peu crevé ce soir...:(

il manque un " à GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=" ----> GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
Mettez [résolu] dans le titre quand le problème est réglé (cliquez sur "modifier" dans votre 1er message).

voilà, je suis de retour!
BRD exécuté, le grub 1.98 s'est remis en place, mais une réinstall du noyau ***.35 ne veut toujours pas se finaliser, j'ai le même message qu'au départ.... donc l'origine de la perturbation ne viendrait pas de la version 11.10 et de son grub.
je vais essayer de reformater cette partition /sda3 pour voir....
à suivre donc!

la partition de la 11.10 est formatée, et vide. le noyau 2.6.32-35 supprimé et toujours ce problème lors de MAJ qui me renvoie à GRUB 1.98...

je viens de modifier le grub.cfg de la 10.04 (mais conservé l'original par prudence!) et redémarré....
c'est celui- ci qui s'affiche. c'est déjà un début, bien que ça ne résolve pas le problème ...
il reste ça dans apt-get update

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="il manque un guillemet comme indiqué dans mon post 13

Post #13 la réponse t'a été donnée, le post #17 la montre encore.
Il faut modifier le fichier grub :
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
et là tu modifies la ligne :
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="
par
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
Tu sauves et valides par un :
sudo update-grub

ainsi, il ne configure pas la dernière version du noyau, ce qui empêche les MAJ si je comprend bien
si je supprime le grub de la 11.10, l'ancien (celui de la 10.04) revient-il?, car j'ai essayé de réinstallé le 1.9.8, mais il refuse d'évincer le 1.9.9
J'ai répondu post#11 ... en disant que, BRD en réinstallant Grub dans ton Ubuntu 10.04 en /sdb6, et sur le secteur de boot de ce même disque...Tu aurais un Grub version 1.1.98 ( en fait c'est v1.97) ... Celui de la 10.04 ...
J'ai corrigé l'erreur que j'avais faite dans mon post"11 .....J'ai écrit 11.04 au lieux de 10.04 .... Tu signales çà post#17 ....
Je maintiens ce que j'ai dit... J'en veux pour exemple ceci...
Je viens de réorganiser mes disques...
Sur un de ceux-ci ,le /dev/sde de ma config, j'ai cloné 3 Ubuntu à la suite...
un 10.04.3, un 11.10 , et un 10.10 ...
Après chaque clonage,dans les fichiers "fstab " respectifs...J'ai modifié les UUID des partitions des copies, pour celle qui sont générées a la création des nouvelles partitions...
j'ai, à chaque foi utilisé Boot Repair ,installé sur un clé live avec Ubuntu 11.10 ...
J'ai réinstallé Grub dans les partitions Système Ubuntu ,et dans le boot secteur du disque /dev/sde... successivement pour chaque Ubuntu...
Au reboot pour, la 10.4.3 , installé en /dev/sde5... J'avais un menu grub v 1.97 ...
Voila ce que donne le boot info-script pour cette manip...

désolé, j'ai pas fait preuve de suffisamment d'attention pour cette ligne dans " /etc/default/grub" je ne voyais pas qu'elle était là et non pas dans grub.cfg...
le sudo update-grub est ok, et au redémarrage c'est bon
est-ce à dire que je pourrait tenter de recharger le dernier noyau?

Bonjour...
On voit bien dans le boot info script ,que c'est la version v1.97 1.98 , de grub qui est installée... Espérons que cela te permette de faire tes mises à jour...
On voit aussi que tu as installé Ubuntu via Wubi... ...
Si ce ubuntu est toujours en place,et si tu cherches à faire les mises à jour de ce dernier, tu risques de rencontrer des problèmes...Soit les mises à jour se font mal,avec des messages d'erreurs... Soit elles ne se font pas...
Si ce Ubuntu installé via Wubi ,n'est plus dans ta config, partition virtuelle supprimée, lors du boot sur ton Windows, tu devrais avoir le choix de démarrer,soit Windows XP, soit Ubuntu (via Wubi) mais ce dernier ne démarre pas...
Dans ce cas ,dans le fichier " boot.ini " que tu trouveras dans le racine de la partition Windows ... il te faut supprimer la ligne qui contient le mot "ubuntu " Supprimer cette ligne...;
C:\wubildr.mbr = "Ubuntu"
Dis nous ce qu'il en ressort ...stp , merci .

J'ai découvert Ubuntu avec la 07.10.... Et alors?!... Depuis je regarde de temps en temps si Windows marche toujours....

jamais installé ubuntu via Wubi, mais il est possible que j'aie, il y a bien longtemps, essayé d'installer wubi par curiosité, avant de partir sur le choix de Vbox DANS ubuntu pour Xp, que j'emploie régulièrement pour certaines applications, p.ex autocad.
au démarrage de XP sur sda1 via GRUB, aucun choix ne m'est proposé, sinon l'utilisateur.
en ouvrant C: (via ubuntu= 4XP_pro) je découvre en effet un dossier ubuntu dans lequel figure 1 dossier "install" et 1 "winboot" (à l'intérieur: wubildr et wubildr.mbr que je ne peux ouvrir. ces 2 fichiers se retrouvent aussi à l'extérieur de ce dossier ubuntu...
quant au boot.ini, pas trace d'ubuntu:

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]

Si ce sont des "vestiges" de tentatives d'utilisation de Wubi ... qu'il n' y a pas trace de partitions virtuelle ayant servi a une tentative d'install avec Wubi... &&&...
Ne sachant pas trop ce qu'il faut te conseiller avec ces fichiers... Si ton Windows marche bien comme çà... Moi je ne me risquerais pas à les effacer, sans prendre des précautions...
En session live Ubuntu... Je les renommerais en < cacher- xxxx > ... Je tenterais un reboot sur Windows... Si çà marche comme çà ,une petite période d'observation du démarage... Et après nettoyage sans craintes...
Maintenant, si au premier reboot ,ton Windows te fait des difficultés...Retour en session live Ubuntu ,renommage des fichiers avec leur nom d'origine... Et puis laisser comme çà...
Toujours se garder la possibilité de revenir en arrière lorsque l'on fait du "bidouillage" dans les fichiers système d'OS...
Une foi effacé ,on ne peut plus revenir en arrière...
