[RESOLU]Gros Gros problème au démarrage

Bonjour,
J'ai voulu faire découvrir Ubuntu à un ami et j'ai fait une instal à partir du live CD.
Lors de la reatribution des partition on avait sda et sdb les deux étaient non attribuée ce qui était déjà bizzare vu que un système windows ce trouve sur c:// ( sda j'espère).

J'ai fait une partition sur sdb de 30 GB pour EXt3 et de 1,2 GB pour swap-linux le / est sur la partition de 30 GB.

Maintenant au redamarrage on a juste un curseur clignotant ... et rien ne se passe.... que faire?????

Au secours je vais me faire déscendre en flamme par mon pote si je récupère pas ma gaffe

heu je veux bien mais rien ne démarre donc comment est-ce que je fais maintenant???

En fait d'après ce que m'a expliqué Sarastro, le problème viendrait du fait que la partition Windows n'était pas detectée lors de l'installation d'Ubuntu. Je pense donc que Grub n'a pas été installé.

Quelle pourrait être la raison qui fait que la partition WIndows ne soit pas reconnue?

ben tu démarres avec le live cd et tu donnes le contenu de /boot/grub/menu.lst à kvb.

édit : grillé

si grub n'a pas été installé, je sèche.

Finalement, on a trouvé le fichier /boot/grub/menu.lst. Si ce fichier existe, c'est donc que Grub est installé. Je n'y comprends plus rien.

Est-ce que Grub pourrait refuser de démarrer car il ne reconnait pas la partition Windows?

Bonsoir à tous, bonsoir Sarastro, il y a déjà une erreur dans ton menu.lst :
ta partition / et ta partition windows est la même et ça ne peut pas marcher.

ici :

# groot=(hd1,0) c'est ta partition de démarrage par défaut, si tu fais un sudo update-grub, c'est elle qui figurera comme partition root dans les menus de tes noyaux.

plus loin ici :
title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.17-10-386
root (hd1,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.17-10-386 root=dev/sbd1 ro quiet splash
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.15-26-386

encore ta partition (hd1,0)
jusque là c'est normal si cela correspond à la position réelle de ta partition /

Par contre ici :
title Microsoft Windows XP Professionnel
root (hd1,0)
savedefault
makeactive
chainloader +1
cela n'est plus normal : tu ne peux pas avoir deux partitions au même endroit.
Ta partition (hd1,0) est la première partition de ton deuxième disque dur.

Donc il va falloir que tu postes le résultat de :

sudo fdisk -l

que l'on y voit un peu plus clair.
