Ok, je vais essayer d'être synthétique :

Tout ceci a été motivé par le fait que je voulais pouvoir utiliser Gnome Shell. Mais l'affichage ne se fait pas correctement. Le grand écran HP est utilisé au 3/4.

En outre, j'ai un message d'erreur au lancement, que je ferme à chaque fois et qui ne prête pas à conséquences. Il est indiqué dans les posts précédents.

Par contre, si je débranche mon PC portable du grand écran, je suis obligée de relancer pour avoir un affichage normal.

Il s'agit d'un Asus X43S, Core i, avec une carte graphique Nvidia GT520M.

En règle général, j'utilise Unity en 3D sans problème.

Je navigue sur Ubuntu (12.04) depuis 2006, mais bien que j'ai appris enormement en informatique depuis mon passage au libre, les pb de Xorg, carte graphique, etc reste un peu un mystère pour moi.

Voilà. J'espère que j'ai répondu à ta question. Je reste derrière mon poste.

Bon, je suppose que ce pauvre ArchangeGabriel a été englouti sous des demandes d'install d'Ubuntu et TANT MIEUX;

Cependant, si qq un pouvait avoir la gentillesse de me dire la meilleure façon de réinstaller proprement le driver de la carte graphique Nvidia, ce serait gentil. J'ai passé une partie de la journée d'hier à chercher comment faire, et j'ai un peu trouvé tout et son contraire.

Oui un peu débordé hier soir en fin de journée, là c'est le calme avant l'ouverture...

Le truc c'est que depuis que je suis arrivé à Paris, j'ai le forum en mode texte c'est pas pratique, je galère à chaque fois pour lire les messages.

Est-ce que tu pourrais donner le contenu du fameux message d'erreur, je le trouve pas dans le topic... ?

Sinon, la réinstallation se fait ainsi :

sudo apt-get purge nvidia-current
sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Reboot, puis :

sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
sudo nvidia-xconfig

Reboot à nouveau.

OK, je tourne en 3D, mais comme mon fichier a été effacé, j'ai perdu tous mes effets. Il va falloir que je réapprenne Compiz.

Mon écran HP ne s'est pas lancé, j'imagine qu'il faut que je bidouille Nvidia Settings ?

Nvidia settings, tu me files un coup de main aussi, stp ?

Connais tu un fichier du site ou autre qui m'aiderai à comprendre ce monde des cartes vidéos ?

Alors, là vous n'allez pas me croire.

Quand je demande le terminal, il s'ouvre dans le Dash et je ne peux ni l'ouvrir ni l'utiliser.

C'est vraiment de mieux en mieux !!!

Je n'ai plus de terminal et quand je sors du mode graphique, j'ai un écran noir.
Peut être en effaçant le fichier de configuration de Compiz ?

, en 3D d'Unity, je n'ai plus de RIEN sur le bureau. Ni barre en haut, ni sur le coté

je n'ai pas unity vu que je suis sur xfce mais je pense que

unity --replace

devrait rebasculer sur unity

tu utilise emerald non pour les fenêtres essaye de voir dans les options de compiz si il est bien activé

C'est bon, j'ai résolu le pb de fenetre grace à ça :

et le terminal refonctionne. D'ailleurs, je ne comprends pas la relation entre les deux ?!!!

Mouhai, j'y ai bien pensé, mais dans l'absolu, je n'ai rien résolu à mon problème initial. Je n'ai fait que pourrir la situation et essayer d'y remédier.
