Installer les drivers Epson R800

Bonjour.
Je suis nouveau sous linux et j'essaie d'installer le driver Epson R8OO sur Ubuntu Hoary.
J'ai trouvé pas mal d'infos sur les forums mais c pas encore assez
J'ai été dans le gestionnaire de paquets synaptic et j'ai vu que cups était bien installe.
Sur http://www.avasys.jp/english/linux_e/dl_ink.html
j'ai trouvé 2 paquets : Stylus Photo R800 for CUPS  et Stylus Photo R800 for LPR
Au feeling, j'ai opté pour CUPS.
J'ai trouvé ça :
pips-spr800-cups-2.6.2-2.i386.rpm,
qui si j'ai bien compris est un paquet pour redhat ou fedora donc je peux rien en faire, sauf en utilisant un certain alien qui n'est pas la panacée.

Sinon il y a les sources :
pips-spr800-2.6.2.tar.gz

Je l'ai extrait sur le bureau, et en mode console j'ai été dans le dossier :
/Desktop/pips-spr800-2.6.2.tar.gz_FILES/pips-spr800-2.6.2

et là j'ai fait :
sudo ./con figure

alors là je comprend pas , il y a peut etre un paquet cups manquant, ou alors je ne suis pas au bon androit pour installer ?
Bref tout ça est bien nouveau pour moi alors , à l'aide svp )

Oups, excusez moi les modos, je crois que le sujet devrait plutot etre dans la rubrique "hardware"...
