installer le kernel -pae ?

Bonjour,
Je viens d'installer une seconde barrette de 2Go sur mon vieux portable sous ubuntu studio 12.10. Il avait le noyau lowlatency d'installé, et donc n'en détectait que 2.9Go.
J'ai donc installé via synaptic le noyau lowlatency-pae et pour faire bonne mesure puisque le lowlatency ne me sert pas, j'ai aussi installé le generic et generic-pae.
Cependant, lorsque je fais un update-grub, je me rends compte qu'il ne détecte que les noyaux generic et lowlatency, sans le pae. Je ne peux donc pas profiter de mes 4Go pour le moment...
en regardant dans /boot, je ne vois d'ailleurs rien pour le pae :

apt-cache show linux-image-generic-pae

Je crois que maintenant le PAE est activé par défaut et qu'il n'y a plus de noyau "PAE" séparé.

Ok, donc ton matériel détecte bien deux barettes de 2 Go de RAM, mais Linux n'en montre que 2,9 Go - un trou de 1 Go ce n'est pas normal.

Peux-tu nous montrer le retour de la commande

cat /proc/meminfo

ainsi que les 200 premières lignes du fichier /var/log/dmesg.

Désolé, je ne vois pas...

On voit ici que le noyau voit bien 4 Go :

Mais il n'en "rend" que ~3 Go disponibles :

À tout hasard, l'option "memory remap" (ou équivalent) est-elle activée dans le BIOS (si existante) ?

@ Haleth, oui apparemment c'est la faute au BIOS. Si Win7 "voit" bien les 4Go, il pense que le dernier Go est réservé à la carte graphique.
Je vais donc chercher un moyen de mettre le BIOS à jour sachant que le seul utilitaire proposé par ACER est un logiciel compatible avec XP et Vista mais pas Win7 ou DOS hmm

J'ai mis à jour le bios vers la dernière version disponible, la 1.08, mais aucune amélioration, le dernier Go reste détecté mais réservé.
@tiramiseb : dans les paramètre du bios, la quantité de mémoire partagée de la vidéo reste 64Mo et n'est pas modifiable.
J'imagine qu'il n'alloue pas les 64 derniers Mo mais alloue toute la mémoire dispo à partir de 3072-64 Mo...
