Une partition commune en dual-boot, c'est possible ? [RÉSOLU]
Bonjour,
Étant utilisateur d'un dual-boot Windows 7/Linux, et disposant tout de même d'un disque dur limité, et surtout comme Windows (qui porte bien son nom) accède difficilement à la partition Linux, je commence à avoir des problèmes de stockage de documents.
Et je n'ai pas pensé avant à ce problème, mais après avoir parcouru moult forums et pages web, je n'arrive toujours pas à savoir si il est facile de faire une partition supplémentaire commune aux deux systèmes d'exploitation, à laquelle je pourrais accéder aux fichiers que soit depuis Linux ou Windows.
Et d'un point de vue pratique, comment dois-je faire ? Créer la partition depuis Linux ou Windows ? FAT32 obligatoire ?
Merci de m'éclairer sur ces points car je reste dans le flou et je ne sais pas quoi faire

Personnellement je te conseille d'utiliser un livecd ou liveusb ainsi tu pourras plus facilement manipuler les partitions existantes (surtout si t'es os sont dessus) et de partitionner en Fat32 l'espace que tu désire y allouer.

Bonjour,
comme le dit sir_tyteuf, tu as intérêt à lancer gparted en live cd ou live usb pour manipuler tes partitions qui doivent être démontées. Tu peux très bien formater ta partition commune en NTFS, ça ne pose pas de problème du moment que ton système windows est sur une partition différente.

Avant tout, il vaut mieux savoir ce que tu comptes mettre sur cette partition. Si c'est des programmes, mieux vaut ne pas toucher, car ni NTFS ni FAT32 ne gèrent correctement les droits Linux.
Donc d'un point de vue pratique, c'est plutôt facile de réduire les partitions Linux et Windows pour faire de la place à une autre, au milieu. GParted Live est une excellente solution simple, si tu n'as pas d'autre LiveCD de Ubuntu.
Par contre, fais attention à d'abord défragmenter dans Windows, puis réduire la partition Windows, appliquer le changement, puis créer une partition où sera installé Ubuntu, puis une partition swap d'au moins la taille de ta RAM (sans dépasser 1,5 fois sa taille, ça ne sert à rien), et en dernier la partition partagée. La raison est qu'il est beaucoup plus rapide de changer la taille d'une partition que de déplacer des gigas de données en changeant une partition de place déjà remplie.

Un grand merci à tous pour vos messages bien utiles !
Alors ça y est, je suis prêt, j'ai fait des sauvegardes, et je veux lancer le truc.
Mais j'ai quelques questions encore, pratiques notamment, quant au nouveau partitionnement.
Pour le démontage des partitions, il me semble correct de toutes les démonter en une fois, ça ne pose pas de problème ? Ainsi je peux facilement organiser les partitions comme je veux.
@cubytus : avec Gparted-live, je peux réduire la partition Win sans la démonter ?
Dans ce cas, effectivement je me casserai moins le Q qu'à tout reformater puis réinstaller...
Pour la suite, si j'ai bien compris je n'ai qu'à faire 4 partitions :
1) Windows (NTFS)
2) Linux (quel format ?)
3) swap (à quoi sert-elle d'ailleurs ?)
4) Partition commune pour documents et fichiers de données programmes communes (quel format de préférence ?)

Toute opération sur les partitions se fait partitions démontées. C'est pour ça qu'un CD bootable a été créé.
Linux formaté en ext3 ou ext4. Certains déconseillent le ext4, mais je ne sais pas pourquoi.
Partition commune en NTFS, car il gère les fichiers de plus de 4Gio. Par contre oublie l'idée e partager des données de programmes entre Windows et Linux, ça va merder vu que la gestion des droits n'est pas la même.

OK, merci à tous pour vos réponses.
J'essaierai bientôt, et je vous dirai comment ça se passe ( y a pas de raison que ça se passe mal !)
Pour les données de programmes, je pensais à ce que je fais déjà avec Thunderbird et Firefox, histoire de ne pas me retrouver avec les mails déjà lus et répondus, etc. Je laisse les données sur une partition et l'autre y accède avec ses droits. Pas génial pour la sécurité, mais ça marche bien...

Firefox intègre une fonction de synchronisation, qui éviterait les conflits.
Thunderbird n'aura aucun problème avec la gestion des courriels lus et répondus, tant que tu utilises le IMAP. Les droits sur une partition partagée ne seraient carrément pas enregistrés correctement, et c'est presque certain que ça créera des problèmes.

Ça me semble effectivement la meilleure solution, mais le problème c'est que j'ai 2 comptes Hotmail... Pour qui l'IMAP doit sembler trop moderne et performant.

Il n'y a aucune raison que ça se passe bien au contraire. Je te suggère de répondre à cette demande (Créer un rapport Boot-Info) : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/tutoriel/boot-info
afin qu'on puisse avoir le maximum d'info sur ton partitionnement actuel dans le but de te conseiller plus sûrement.
Tu peux faire le Boot-Info depuis ta session normale de Ubuntu (au lieu de le faire depuis une session live comme proposé à l'étape 1)

En ce qui concerne le partage de tes mails, je pense que la solution de mettre le profil sur une partition ntfs (donc lisible par win et ubuntu) et que visiblement tu utilises déjà, est une bonne solution : j'ai toujours préféré avoir mes docs sur mon ordinateur plutôt que sur un quelconque cloud… Plus d'infos ici : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/tutoriel/thunderbird_profils (chapitre 3).

A mon avis, il faudrait tout réinstaller de la façon suivante : Depuis Windows 7, sauvegarder sur disque dur externe tous les documents que tu as actuellement stockés dans C: et qui doivent expliquer que tu occupes 125G de ce disque C: , le but étant de faire maigrir ce disque C: pour le ramener à une taille normale inférieure ou égale à 100 Go (taux d'occupation objectif de 50%) au lieu de 172 Go actuellement. Quand tu auras pu faire maigrir très sévèrement ton disque C: (ta partition sda2), tu pourras supprimer toutes les partitions logiques qui sont dans la partition étendue et la partition étendue elle-même (après avoir sauvegardé les doc précieux que tu pourrais avoir dans Ubuntu). Il faudrait alors recréer une partition étendue collée à sda2 et occupant tout le reste du disque dur, et créer dedans les partitions suivantes dans cet ordre :
- partition logique en ext4 de 20 Go pour la partition racine de Ubuntu
- partition logique swap
- partition logique en NTFS occupant tout le reste de la partition étendue pour le stockage de données commun à Windows 7 et à Ubuntu suivant ce principe : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/tutoriel/parti … s_ou_autre
En résumé et vu d'avion, il faudrait que tu arrives à obtenir une partition commune de stockage en NTFS qui fasse environ 200 Go (soit les 2/3 de la capacité de ton disque dur). Au final, tu pourras y remettre les documents que tu auras temporairement stockés sur disque dur externe.

J'ai enfin lancé tout le truc, mais, chose que j'avais oublié oublié de préciser, je n'ai pas pensé à modifier le grub.
Et au lieu d'avoir le choix de la partition au démarrage, ben évidemment je tombe sur grub rescue...
J'ai un peu cherché, et je ne vois pas trop comment faire. J'ai tenté quelques commandes qui n'ont pas marché.
Je n'ai que ma partition Windows d'active (je l'ai juste redimensionnée), et je voudrais simplement commencer par démarrer dessus, ensuite on verra.

Je te prie de faire un Boot-Info depuis une session live de Ubuntu. Motif : je ne sais pas trop ce que tu as foutu : tu n'as pas créé de partition étendue comme je t'avais proposé dans mon post #14. Et ta partition qui avait le label "Réservé au système" (voir ton post #12) et qui se trouvait en début de disque dur a disparu...

J'ai bien compris la doc, fait ce qu'il fallait faire, mais... WIndows refuse d'utiliser l'image système sur un disque dur externe. Je vais essayer autrement.
Ce que je cherche actuellement, c'est simplement dire à grub de booter sur la partition Windows.
J'ai vu où elle se situe, mais je ne m'y connais pas en lignes de commande...
