1) Est-ce que ça ralentit le démarrage ?

2) Quand on m'a donné ce portable, il y avait déjà :
sda1 DellUtility
sda2 XP
sda5 (tout au bout du HD) le swap de xp.

  J'ai réduit sda2 puis intercalé
sda6 Data puis
/
/boot
/home.

ip a | grep inet6 ne me renvoie rien. je l'avais deja fait. nonobstant cela, j'etais intervenu sur le network-manager pour annuler ipv6 sans effet apparent.

es tu sur de la commande df -f? ma console me renvoie que -f n'est pas une option de cette fonction.

et je dis ciao a cups

Tu n'as qu'un HDD... Je dirais un truck du genre pour commencer, mais ça reste à confirmer:

sda1 /dell
sda2 /xp
sda3 /swap xp
sda4 / (primaire)
sda5 /home (primaire)

Pourquoi ton /home est-il plus petit que /data et à quoi sert cette dernière? Je me demande aussi si /boot à vraiment besoin d'une partition dédiée?

/boot séparée : à l'époque je débutais et des tutos indiquaient que, ce répertoire ne devant jamais être plein, il était conseillé de lui attribuer une partition spécifique.
  Ce n'est en effet pas indispensable mais ça m'a donné la bonne habitude d'y faire périodiquement le ménage.

/data, en fat32, est accessible de tout OS ; un /home, en ext, n'est accessible que de linux... (Et encore : portable oblige, le mien est crypté).

  Ça fait au moins quatre partitions primaires... 
Les tables de partitions gpt sont apparues bien des années après XP ; sachant que mon HD a une table msdos, où me conseilles-tu de caser ma partition étendue ?

Bien moi pour revenir au sujet, je passe de 8 secondes avec le noyau lowlatency par défaut à 22 secondes avec le noyau patché RT que j'ai recompilé. Il y a donc des tests que j'ai dû activé ou bien que j'ai oublié de désactiver avec ce noyau.

@moko138: Pourquoi pas /data en ntfs et pourquoi y a-t-il deux /home alors qu'un encrypté suffit, non? Tu as droit 5 partitions primaires avec table msdos.

  Et pourquoi pas en fat32 ? Les très rares fois où j'ai envisagé d'avoir un .iso plus gros que 4 Go, j'ai fait de la place dans /home.

Il y a un unique /home en sda9, qui contient (ligne suivante), crypté, mon /home/perso et qui pourrait accueillir d'autres utilisateurs (sur d'autres lignes suivantes).

  Non ; quatre dont une étendue.
Et même si je renonçais - mais pourquoi ??? - à /data, il manquerait la swap de linux, qui me sert à hiberner.

Enlever NM, lightdm et blacklister tous les modules non utilisés. Regarder /syslog, /boot.log et ~/.xession-errors pour supprimer d'éventuelles erreurs.

Merci c'est gentil. Bon, en fait, le noyau RT recompilé ne me permettait pas de faire la musique en 192 kHz non plus (quelques Xruns). J'ai donc décidé de ne travailler qu'en 96 kHz. J'ai retiré le noyau RT et le noyau lowlatency a repris sa place.
édit : boot en 9 secondes après avoir retiré kvm.

  Je me sers constamment de network-manager pour les hotspots (pas de box).
  Je n'ai pas lightdm.
  Comment identifie-t-on les modules non utilisés, s'il te plaït ?

Oui, merci je viens de relire ma phrase.
D'après dmesg, il démarre en 8 à 9 secondes (à partir de Grub je suppose) après avoir passé une trentaine de secondes dans le BIOS.

Donc le temps de mettre le mot de passe, il faut compter une minute contre une minute et demie avant.

@moko138: Tu as gdm sur la 10.04 encore plus lourd que lightdm. A ta place je commencerais par installer la 12.04 LTS avec un bon partitionnement. Pour les modules qui sont sur ton système: lsmod, recherche à quoi ils correspondent et si tu en as vraiment l'utilité.

  J'ai prévu, à regrets, de passer à la 12.04, puisque la 10.04 va ne plus être suivie. Je l'avais même installé, la 12.04, sur un DDE... qui m'a lâché la semaine dernière.
Cela dit, cinq minutes après le démarrage, la ram de la 10.04, n'est occupée qu'à 190 Mo...

Après la 10.10 (gnome 2) je suis passé à Xubuntu (très similaire à gnome 2) pour fuir les tablettes like (unity/gnome 3) supers camions, que ma config supporterait sans soucis mais non merci... J'en suis ravis et ne regrette pas les versions précédentes. La 12.04 fonctionne à merveille.

Sreadahead à été scindé au projet ureadahead et n'existe plus en tant que tel. Tu peux néanmoins virer le .pack et tous les pack de /var/lib/ureadahead pour le forcer à les régénérer à nouveau au prochain boot. Tente, je n'y crois pas trop mais ça ne coûte rien d'essayer...
