Etrange bug mise à jour W8.1 (pc dual boot Linux W8)
Bonjour,
Ce post fait suite à une discussion précédente (Linux-W8).
Discussion ou Malbo m'avait bien aidé à réaliser un dualboot correct sur un PC portable Asus N76VJ (2 disques durs Linux et Ubuntu).Je l'en remercie à nouveau !
Voici le bug qu'à subi ma machine au passage de W8 à W8.1, d'une certaine manière il s'est "auto" résolu sans que je n'y ai compris grand chose!
Dernièrement update de W8 me propose une mise à niveau vers W8.1...
Méfiant, je dépose le disque Linux. Redémarre le pc et effectue cette mise à jour. Arrête à nouveau la machine. Remonte le disque Linux. Redémarre la machine.
Le menu grub apparait me propose de booter sur W8. L'OS fonctionne correctement, seul un message dans le coin droit du bureau m'indique "Secure boot UEFI n'est pas configuré correctement. Build 9600".
Une bonne semaine s'écoule et update W8 m'annonce aujourd'hui 11 mises à jour importantes, que j'effectue sans même consulter de quoi il retourne...
W8 fait sa mise à jour (je passe les multiples redémarrages), le pc redémarre, je l'utilise sous W8 puis l'arrête...
Au redémarrage suivant: écran bleu avec erreur "0x...." m'indiquant un problème de config UEFI. Agacé, j'avoue je n'ai pas tout lu!
Le pc démarrait avant la mise à jour sur le DD Linux (boot n°1). J'entre dans le bios et paramètre le 1er boot vers Windows et le pc redémarre correctement.
Etonné: j'arrête à nouveau la machine, redépose le DD Windows et redémarre (sans intervention sur le bios) le pc qui boot alors normalement vers le DD Linux, ça marche
Je remonte le DD W8 redémarre à nouveau (sans toucher les paramètres du bios) et... apparition du menu Grub, la machine fonctionne désormais sans problème comme à l'origine!

Moi, je ne sais pas donner une explication. Je retiens que pour repartir sur des bonnes bases, tu as laissé le disque dur Ubuntu seul, vérifié que Ubuntu démarrait bien, puis tu as remonté le disque dur Windows 8 et tout fonctionnait comme avant. Si une situation pareille se reproduit (Windows 8 qui te fait le coup de l'écran bleu), tu n'auras qu'à refaire cette procédure qui a bien fonctionné. Éventuellement, bien que ça n'a pas été nécessaire ici, si tu ne parviens pas à démarrer Windows 8 à partir du menu Grub, il faut penser à passer la commande de mise à jour de Grub (sudo update-grub).

Merci pour tes conseils éclairés.
il faut penser à passer la commande de mise à jour de Grub (sudo update-grub).
Oui pour l'utilisation de cette commande, mais ne comporte-t-elle pas des risques?
En effet, lors de l'installation d'origine, j'avais installé W8 et Linux indépendamment (seul leur disque respectif monté sur la machine à l'installation) puis modifié le fichier 40_Custom de Grub pour y insérer les entrées Windows.
A l'avenir pour éviter de trop nombreuses mises à jour, j'attends la sortie de la prochaine version LTS (actuellement sous 13.04), je devrai y gagner en tranquillité tout au moins pour ce qui concerne Linux.

Oui, la commande "sudo update-grub" que je te suggérais ne peut pas améliorer les choses puisque le démarrage de Windows 8 utilise le fichier 40_Custom de Grub. Par contre, si elle ne peut pas améliorer les choses, je ne pense pas qu'elle apporte un risque. Je t'invite à passer cette commande dès à présent afin que tu vérifies la chose. Tu devrais obtenir exactement le même contenu du fichier grub.cfg que son contenu actuel (qu'on peut voir dans le Boot-Info du post #1). En particulier, tu pourras y trouver cette partie inchangée :

Oui, l'extrait que tu as posté est strictement identique à la partie correspondante du Boot-Info du post #1. C'est plus que rassurant parce que si une mise à jour de Grub risquait de casser le dual-boot, cela ne manquerait pas de se produire à plus ou moins brève échéance, lors de la mise à jour d'un nouveau noyau ou lors d'une future mise à jour du paquet Grub lui-même.

J'ai dèjà réalisé de nombreuses mises à jour du noyau et nettoyer via synaptic en conservant les 2 plus récents sans rencontrer de problème.
Je n'ai pas eu de mise à jour de Grub jusqu'à présent. Mais si c'est le cas, je dépose le DD W8 avant de l'effectuer?
Et je suppose que je devrai ré-écrire les entrées vers W8 dans Grub?

Je ne peux pas te le jurer mais dans le cas d'une mise à jour du paquet Grub (précisément, c'est grub-efi dans ton cas), même si tu choisissais "installer la version du responsable du paquet" (moi, c'est ce que je prends tout le temps), tu conserverais tes entrées 40_Custom de ton fichier grub.cfg pour la raison que le fichier 40_Custom lui-même ne serait pas touché par la mise à jour de Grub.
Edit : et bien sûr, pas besoin de déposer le DD W8 avant mise à jour de Grub. Je confirme : tu n'as pas besoin de prendre de précaution particulière et ça doit bien se passer.
