[Résolu] Installer Ubuntu 13.10 sur un HP Touchsmart équipé W8

Bonjour cher utilisateur d'Ubuntu, nouveau ou confirmé !

Cet essai de tutoriel concerne le HP Pavilion Touchsmart 15 - n053sf, sur lequel j'ai installé Ubuntu 13.10 en une  trentaine d'heures, ce qui m'a demandé beaucoup d'acharnement. Je voudrais vous éviter d'y passer autant de temps si vous avez la même machine (ou peut-être même un autre HP similaire ?). L'obstacle qui se présente en effet lors d'une installation naïve est le célèbre yikes ECRAN NOIR.

Tout d'abord smile un grand merci smile à tous ceux qui ont apporté sur le forum et sur la doc les solutions qui m'ont permis d'avancer. Je donne au fil de ce "tuto" les liens vers certaines de leurs précieuses pages, notamment cette discussion initiée par malbo (il y en a eu bien d'autres, je n'ai pas tout retrouvé). Une mention pour le forum des utilisateurs francophones d'HP, qui m'a permis de repérer certaines difficultés.

Une inquiétude aussi hmm, de ce qu'il faille autant de temps à un utilisateur un peu averti (je suis venu à Ubuntu en 2006 pour pouvoir bénéficier d'une formation universitaire en informatique, et j'y suis fidèle depuis Edgy Eft) (et aidé par cet excellent forum cool) pour une simple installation ! Il serait dommage que l'évolution des technologies et l'emprise du Léviathan limitent l'accès au libre aux seuls geeks ...

Deux types de difficultés paraissent de plus en plus souvent à surmonter :

  • des difficultés technologiques dues en partie à l'évolution et en partie à la défense des positions sur le marché, comme l'UEFI, le Secure Boot ... mais aussi au manque de drivers libres (dans ce cas pour la carte graphique qui est une ATI Radeon) ;

  • la dispersion des informations nécessaires pour parvenir une solution et leur absence de systématisation ; il faut "ramer" sur les forums, naviguer entre des "trucs" qui ne marchent que pour certaines configurations, sans qu'on sache pourquoi la plupart du temps. Certes, le libre se mérite, mais là je trouve qu'il devient un peu élitiste et décourageant pour le novice.

Installation point par point

Préparation

  1. Avant tout , sauvegardez vos fichiers personnels et gravez les DVD de récupération du système W8 ! J'ai fait une erreur à un moment et j'ai reformaté toute la partition ! Si cela vous arrive, vous n'en serez que pour 2 heures de réinstallation ...

  2. Télécharger Ubuntu 13.10 international (c'est celui qui est proposé sur ce site) et Boot Repair Disk (documentation) et graver les images sur 2 DVD distincts (évidemment roll)

  3. Modifier les options d'arrêt de W8 (Recherche dans les paramètres : "modifier le comportement des boutons d'alimentation") afin de pouvoir obtenir un arrêt véritable, préalable au lancement d'un DVD dans le lecteur et à l'accès au BIOS (Setup Utility)

  4. Faire de la place sur le disque (W8 : rechercher "partition" dans Paramètres -> Créer et formater des partitions du disque dur -> choisir la partition C: -> Action -> Toutes les tâches -> diminuer le volume - si vous n'obtenez pas assez de place, défragmentez d'abord

  5. Aller dans le BIOS  : éteignez - rallumez ou redémarrez, appuyez de suite sur Echap -> F10 (avec maj sur cette machine)-> onglet Système -> Boot

    1. Secure Boot disabled - Legacy enabled

    2. modifier l'ordre de boot en plaçant le lecteur interne de DVD en premier (pas sûr que ça soit nécessaire si l'option "démarrage du lecteur" est activée ...?)

    3. valider et sortir avec maj+F10 -> confirmer les modifications en entrant le code donné (le pavé numérique est alors pré-verrouillé, vous pouvez taper directement)

Installation proprement dite

  1. Lancer le Live-CD Ubuntu 13.10

  2. GRUB : sélectionner "install Ubuntu" avec la flèche du clavier mais ne pas valider, taper "e"

  3. Dans la ligne de commande commençant par "linux", ajouter "nomodetest" avant "quiet splash" (votre clavier est en QWERTY, le 'M' = ',') et valider (maj+F10) (pourquoi nomodeset ?) - voir aussi message #4 de alca94 dans cette discussion

  4. Etre patient : l'apparition de l'interface graphique d'installation est lente et précédée de divers écrans violets, noirs, noir avec rétroéclairage, puis avec pointeur

  5. Choisir la langue

  6. Page "préparation de l'installation d'ubuntu" : connecter internet (icône en haut à droite -> choisir sa box -> entrer le mot de passe de connection) - pour aller plus vite ne pas cocher "télécharger les mises à jour pendant l'installation"

  7. Pages "type d'installation" :

    1. choisir "autre chose" (très important - voir le 2°) du premier post de malbo de cette page), valider : nous allons définir les partitions d'installation

    2. double-cliquer sur "espace libre" -> diminuer la taille de la valeur de celle du swap que l'on choisira ensuite (5 à 10 Mo), laisser type de la nouvelle partition = primaire, emplacement = début de cet espace, laisser utiliser comme système de fichier journalisé ext4, choisir point de montage = /, valider

    3. double-cliquer sur "espace libre", choisir utiliser comme = espace d'échange ("swap"), valider -> valider ("installer maintenant")

  8. Pages suivantes : localisation, clavier, identité, ordinateur

  9. "Un compte pour se connecter à tout sur Ubuntu" : choisir "Me connecter plus tard" : à plusieurs reprises en cliquant sur le bouton par défaut du nom duquel je ne me souviens plus l'installation s'est bloquée (ou du moins l'interface graphique a disparu)

  10. Laisser l'installation se poursuivre (copie des fichiers, installation ...) smile

Réparations du grub et de la prise en charge de la carte graphique

  1. sad Malheureusement le grub n'apparaît pas au redémarrage ! -> il est nécessaire de réparer le démarrage avec Boot Repair Disk - pour le lancer taper Echap au démarrage, taper F9 à l'écran qui apparaît (toujours avec maj sur cette machine), choisir "internal CD/DVD drive"

  2. Valider l'écran d'accueil et choisir "réparation recommandée" (cf. copie de la fenêtre sur cette page sourceforge- message concernant l'EFI dont je n'ai pas tenu compte

  3. Fermer Boot Repair et redémarrer

  4. Le menu grub est maintenant très long mais Ubuntu est la première option (pour W8 choisir Windows Boot UEFI Loader)

  5. big_smile ahah ça démarre ... ehh oui mais on retrouve le désormais célèbre écran noir !!! mad -> idem que précédemment, sur l'écran grub quand "ubuntu" est sélectionné, tapez "e", sur la ligne commençant par "linux" saisissez "nomodeset" avant "quiet splash" et lancez avec maj+F10

  6. Une fois dans votre session modifiez le pilote d'affichage : icône en haut à droite -> paramètres systèmes -> logiciels -> pilotes additionnels -> changer l'option vers pilote propriétaire (2° ou 3° choix proposé, je ne sais pas lequel est le meilleur)

  7. Redémarrez pour vérifier (ne pas faire attention aux messages qui apparaissent en premier)

cool ça devrait être bon !

N.B : si vous avez un problème de saisie du mot de passe une fois dans votre session (notamment pour charger le pilote propriétaire), vérifiez voire recochez bien le clavier français ! ( en principe première des icônes indicateurs dans la barre de menu, en haut à droite).

J'espère que cela pourra aider ... au moins pour la même machine, elle était en promotion, y a peut-être eu d'autres acheteurs parmi nous !

Bravo pour ce tuto.
Pourrais-tu faire un Boot-Info et le poster dans ce fil pour que ça serve d'exemple d'installation à ceux qui ont le même modèle que toi ?

Bonjour Vorona.
Tout d'abord merci pour ce tuto, il est très bien construit.
Je tente d'installer Ubuntu 13.10 sur un HP Pavilion Touchsmart 15 - n053sf (ça tombe bien !)

Seulement je bloque à l'étape 2.3. J'ai beau essayer de démarrer ubuntu en test ou directement  de lancer l’installateur, avec ou non l'option nomodetest, rien n'y fait : écran noir...

juste un mot pour dire que j'ai pris connaissance de ton mail. Je ne sais pas si je pourrai faire quelque chose mais je vais regarder ... demain car il est tard chez moi !

Donc à +. Peut-être que tu auras trouvé tout seul. C'est embêtant, si tu as fait tout pareil sur la même machine ça devrait donner le même résultat ! il y a donc une condition différente quelque part ...

As-tu attendu ? Le démarrage de l'install est lent ...

J'ai essayé avec une image persistante sur clef usb. Il s'agit de l'ordinateur d'un ami. La prochaine fois que je passe par ici, j’essaierai avec un cd live et je posterais ici les retours !

Edit : j'ai attendu plusieurs fois plus de vingt minutes !

Après avoir revu mon tuto j'avoue ne pas avoir assez de connaissances de fond pour t'orienter. En bref j'ai trouvé un chemin qui fonctionnait chez moi à condition de le suivre scrupuleusement, qui a aussi fonctionné chez un autre utilisateur, mais je ne suis pas capable de comprendre pourquoi la même procédure sur la même machine peut ne pas marcher. Tu pointes une différence, la clé USB au lieu du CD, ça paraît improbable mais bon, faut toujours essayer ! Bon courage. Merci pour le retour futur.

Alors, de retour auprès de la personne équipé d'un HP Pavilion Touchsmart 15 - n053sf sur lequel j'essaye de mettre ubuntu 13.10.

1/ Avec l'iso gravée sur un dvd, l’installation se déroule sans problème (la même iso installée sur une clef usb avec usb-creator ne fonctionne pas)
2/ Avec boot repair j'ai du entrer, en terminal les lignes suivantes

sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-save/sda6/" dpkg --configure -a
sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-save/sda6/" apt-get install -fy
sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-save/sda6/" apt-get purge -y --force-yes grub*-common shim-signed linux-signed*

puis

sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-save/sda6/" apt-get install -y --force-yes grub-efi linux

3/ J’accède donc maintenant à grub.
4/ Au démarage, avec ou sans l'option nomodset, je tombe sur le message suivant :

The system is running in low-graphics mode
Your screen, graphics card and input device settings could not be detect correctly. You will need to configure these yourself.

_ L'option "Run in low graphics mode juste for one session" m’amène à un invité de commande (dont je ne sais pas quoi faire);
_ L'option "Reconfigure graphics" ne donne rien
_ L'option "Troubleshoot the error" donne des logs vides...

Je ne sais pas trop quoi faire maintenant.

A la suite d'une mise à jour je n'ai plus pu faire fonctionner cette machine sous Ubuntu et j'ai dû tout réinstaller en abandonnant, à mon grand regret, la partition Ubuntu.

La prochaine fois je me renseignerai avant l'achat sur les portables qui fonctionnent sous Linux sans problème.

Je crois que c'est l'utilisation de Boot-Repair qui t'a mis dans les ennuis. Aujourd'hui si tu devais tenter une installation toute neuve de Ubuntu 14.04.1 dans cet ordi, tu te retrouverais dans la situation que tu as décrite dans ton post #1 : "Malheureusement le grub n'apparaît pas au redémarrage ! " Sauf qu'au lieu d'utiliser Boot-Repair, tu enfoncerais la touche F9 au démarrage pour accéder au Boot Menu et tu pourrais sélectionner une entrée "ubuntu" pour arriver au menu Grub. Ce procédé n'est pas aussi agréable qu'on pourrait le souhaiter puisqu'il faut enfoncer la touche F9 au démarrage mais par contre il permet de résister au mises à jour et aux mises à niveau de Ubuntu et de Windows. Alors que Boot-Repair fait des bidouilles qui ne résistent pas : une grosse partie des emmerdes décrites dans les commentaires de ce rapport de bug #1289977 est due à l'utilisation de Boot-Repair.

Hello Malbo,

j'ai plus ou moins rapidement traversé la discussion en question, qui offre une très jolie partie de ping-pong entre ouverture et fermeture de bug, jusqu'à ce que la question soit reportée à la mise à jour de 14.01, à la suite de quoi on a encore des commentaires irrités de victimes du bug ... Effectivement boot-repair est cité à plusieurs reprises mais il ne m'a pas semblé que ce soit pour l'incriminer (de toute évidence cela a pu m'échapper). En revanche, effectivement, les développeurs se plaignent des manœuvres manuelles d'utilisateurs qui ont pu produire des configurations pas propres et incapables de résister aux mises à jour (comme cela m'est effectivement arrivé), mais d'autres utilisateurs jurent leurs grands dieux qu'ils n'ont rien fait de tel !...
Cela dit je suis loin d'avoir des compétences de développeur d'Ubuntu et je ne me hasarderai à juger ni Boot-Repair ni tes commentaires. Maintenant s'il fallait tout reprendre sur cette machine j'avoue que je suis un peu largué par la technicité des solutions. Ça m'intéresserait beaucoup en tant que développeur ou testeur de bon niveau, mais j'ai encore quelques examens à passer !
Merci en tous cas de m'avoir informé du bug car cela montre qu'il y a de la réactivité au niveau de la core team.

Tu as bien lu les commentaires du rapport de bug : ceux qui mentionnent Boot-Repair, c'est pour l’encenser et dire qu'il les a sauvés. Les autres ne sont pas assez compétents pour identifier que c'est Boot-Repair qui les a mis dans la mouise.

OK. Et donc peux-tu me conseiller un ou deux tutos pour ce F9 et le menu GRUB ? je n'ai pas trouvé sur la page de la doc consacrée à GRUB2 ... (des fois que l'envie me prenne de rebidouiller ....) roll

Le pire, c'est qu'il n'y a même pas besoin d'un tuto : tu installes Ubuntu 14.04.1 en prenant les précautions pour ne pas écraser Windows 8 (je propose mon tuto pour ce faire) et tu redémarres l'ordi avec la touche F9 enfoncée et tu sélectionnes ubuntu dans le Boot Menu. Il n'y a rien d'autre à faire.
C'est ce qu'à fait Vivyan récemment pour son dual-boot dans son HP Pavilion 15-e057sf : http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.ph … #p17658781

Je déterre ce fil 2 ans après (eh oui ... le temps passe ...). Je n'avais pas davantage insisté sur la cohabitation W8 - Ubuntu sur ce matériel. Puis j'ai tenté d'installer W10 : erreur fatale, le matériel ne faisait pas partie de la liste des portables éligibles, même si HP fournissait volontiers les drivers. Système inexploitable qui bloque les 3/4 du temps.
Résultat des courses, retour à W7 (besoin de certains logiciels Windows ... + possession d'un DVD W7 régulier avec la clé) et re-essai de dual boot, cette fois avec Ubuntu 16.04. La solution de malbo est d'une simplicité enfantine à utiliser, finalement. Petite précision, avec ce matériel, il faut appuyer sur ESC au démarrage, F9 ne vient qu'ensuite. Pas si contraignant, ça fonctionne, pas vraiment envie de chercher plus loin une solution "idéale" avec un grub direct au démarrage.

Ah eh bien si, désolé, on peut aussi accéder directement au menu boot order en cliquant directement su F9, sans passer par ESC.
