[résolu]Windows 8 absent de grub après installation d'Ubuntu 14.04

Salut tout le monde,

Après une installation d'Ubuntu 14.04 64bits sur un Dell XPS 18, Windows est absent du menu de grub.
Dans un premier temps j'avais essayé la méthode suvante

La commande os-prober donnait bien quelque chose mais en redémarrant, j'avais toujours le même problème.
J'ai ensuite essayé d'installer boot-repair et de lancer la "réparation recommandée".
Suite, à celà, j'ai toujours le même problème mais j'ai aussi un problème supplémetaire. La commande "os-prober" ne donne plus aucun résultat.
Il y avait eu le message d'erreur suivant à la fin des étapes que j'ai suivi avec boot-repair

Une erreur est survenue pendant la réparation.

Les fichiers de démarrage de [L'OS actuellement utilisé - Ubuntu 14.04 LTS] sont loin du début du disque. Votre BIOS pourrait ne pas les détecter. Vous voudrez peut-être re-essayer après avoir créé une partition /boot (EXT4, >200MB, en début de disque). Cela peut être réalisé via des outils tels que gParted. Puis sélectionnez cette partition via l'option [Partition /boot séparée :] de [Réparateur de démarrage]. (http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/tutoriel/partition_boot)

Est ce que quelqu'un pourrait m'aider à intégrer une entrée pour windows 8 dans le menu grub?
Je précise que j'arrive à accéder à windows 8 en appuyant sur F12 au démarrage et en sélectionnant le l'entrée pour gestionnaire de boot de windows.

Je vois dans cet extrait que ton Windows 8 utilise (ou pourrait utiliser) une partition IRST (Intel Rapid Start technology) :

Cette technologie sert à obtenir un démarrage très rapide de Windows.
Je ne sais pas si c'est la présence de cette partition IRST (*) ou si c'est autre chose mais on voit bien dans ce Boot-Info que la présence de Windows 8 n'est pas détectée :

Moi, je ne sais pas t'aider à obtenir une entrée pour Windows 8 dans le menu grub

(*) Après quelque recherche, je trouve ce post dans lequel il y a un Boot-Info qui montre la présence d'une telle partition et pour autant os-prober détecte correctement Windows 8 et le menu grub propose bien une entrée pour démarrer Windows 8. Donc, il semblerait que le souci ne soit pas dû à la présence de cette partition mais à autre chose que je ne sais pas identifier.

EDIT : j'ai oublié de répondre par rapport au message que tu as mentionné dans ton post : "Les fichiers de démarrage de [L'OS actuellement utilisé - Ubuntu 14.04 LTS] sont loin du début du disque. Votre BIOS pourrait ne pas les détecter...." : ce message ne te concerne pas. Il est adressé aux possesseurs d'ordis anciens. Le problème de ce genre de message à la con, c'est que ceux qui le lisent sont persuadés (comme toi) que c'est la cause de leur malheur alors que quasiment personne n'est concerné par ce problème.

Je me demande si ce ne serait pas en fait sda2 qui pourrait poser problème (partition fat32, un peu mystérieuse, sans doute propre à Dell, qui ne fait jamais rien comme tout le monde). Tu pourrais essayer de "forcer un boot" sur le fichier de démarrage de W8 en ajoutant manuellement l'entrée au fichier /etc/grub.d/40_custom

La partition SDA6  est le strict équivalent de la partition de swap de ubuntu.
Tu devrais mettre un flag-boot sur la partition SDA5 SDA1   et faire une commande 'sudo os-prober' pour voir que cela résout le problème.    Il ne te restera plus qu'à faire 'sudo update-grub'.

Comme je l'ai dit dans mon premier message, avant de lancer boot-repair la première fois, os-prober détectait bien quelque chose. Le seul truc c'est que cette commande ne m'a pas permis d'avoir une nouvelle entrée au démarrage. Donc, c'est bien suite au boot-repair (et aux différentes commandes que j'ai du lancer) que os-prober ne détecte plus rien.

Je vais tester ça.
Pour ce qui concerne les partitions de base, il y en a beaucoup et je ne sais pas à quoi elles servent.

Finalement, je n'ai pas essayé de mettre de boot flag.
Par cotre, j'ai essayé la méthode à ikewdu et ça n'a rien donné.

Donc, ce que je vais essayé, c'est de réinstaller ubuntu pour que la commande "sudo os-prober" fonctionne à nouveau et je vous redonnerai mon boot-info suite à celà.
Autant ne pas trop compliquer les choses en introduisant des problèmes qui n'existaient pas suite à l'installation.

Finalement, la solution à ikewdu a fonctionné. Au moment ou je m'appretais à rebooter sur ma clé usb et que j'ai oublié d'appuyer sur F12 pour booter dessus, je me suis rendu compte que l'entrée Windows 8 a été ajoutée. Je passe donc en résolu. Merci encore à tous.

Mon pronostic, c'est que ça ne servira à rien. Ce qui me fait dire ça, c'est que le Boot-Info a été fait depuis une session live de Ubuntu 14.04.1, ce n'était pas le grub et os-prober de ton Ubuntu installé qui étaient en action mais le grub et os-prober de la session live. Et malgré cela, os-prober ne fonctionnait pas comme je l'ai signalé dans le post #2. Je soupçonne - un peu comme ikewdu - un souci avec une partition ou avec la table de partition qui fait que os-prober ne peut pas faire son boulot de détection de Windows 8.

EN fait, quand j'ai fait le "sudo os-prober" la première fois, je n'étais pas en session live. Et comme je l'ai dit plus haut, ça donnait bien un résultat. Je pense donc que c'est les commandes que j'ai du faire en suivant la procédure du boot-repair qui ont fait que le "sudo os-prober" ne donnait plus aucun résultat.
Mais bon, au final ça m'arrange d'avoir résolu le problème sans avoir eu à faire de réinstallation du système. Donc tout est ok.
En tout cas, encore une fois, merci à vous tous.

Étant donné que j'ai fait l'installation pour quelqu'un d'autre, je ne compte pas pousser les investigations plus loin (même si, par curiosité, j'aurais bien voulu le faire).
J'espère juste que certaines mises à jour ne vont pas avoir d'influence sur ce qui a été fait pour régler le problème.

Tu ne devrais pas avoir de problème avec le fichier 40_custom qui pointera toujours au bon endroit. Seul l'ordre de boot peut éventuellement être modifié, lors d'une MAJ de Windows : "Windows boot manager" est parfois remis en priorité dans le bios/uefi par une MAJ de la partition efi (ce qui masque le menu grub et W8 démarre directement) . Il faudra alors simplement changer le chemin depuis bcdedit, sous W8 en passant de

bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \efi\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi

à

bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \efi\ubuntu\shimx64.efi

Mais tu n'en es pas là.
