question hibernation/partitionnement

Bonjour,

Depuis que je suis passé à la 14.04 je ne peux plus hiberner. J'ai donc suivi des tutos pour régler ce problème. Ils me disent de modifier une variable (yes à la place de no) dans un fichier.
Mais rien n'y fait, hibernation impossible.

Puis je me suis souvenu qu'entre temps j'ai doublé ma RAM, je pense qu'il faut donc que je partitionne mon swap pour qu'il soit au moins égal à ma RAM. Ca vous parait logique où je me trompe ?

Voilà à quoi ressemble mon disque dur :

Je dois donc "décaler" ext4 pour pouvoir monter mon swap à 8Go. N'y a t'il pas de risque particulier de perte de données à partitionner comme cela ? Les données écrites au début de la partition ne risque pas d'être perdues ?

Lorsque tu va demander le décalage de 4 Go de ta partition,  tu auras un message te disant que tu as un risque de destruction.
    Je pense que tu es conscient que le risque de destruction n'est pas spcécifique à cette action et donc tu as déjà pris toutes les précautions. Ou que tu acceptes les aléas d'un déplacement de partitions.
    Pour ma part, je pense que le risque de déplacement de partition et de perte de données est lié en priorité à un arrêt intempestif du processus de déplacement.
             => le plus souvent, l'utilisateur n'a pas la patience d'attendre que l'action se finisse.

légende urbaine, tu peux laisser ta swap à 4G, inutile de prendre le risque de casser tes partitions.
Le processus de mise en hibernation fera tout don possible pour ne pas dépasser une taille limite dont la valeur est par défaut 2/5 de la taille de la ram (8G --> 3,2 G de swap pour hiberner).
Pour connaître la taille minimale de swap nécessaire à la mise en hibernation consultes le contenu du fichier /sys/power/image_size il te donne cette taille exprimée en octets.

Extrait de la documentation du noyau:

/sys/power/image_size controls the size of the image created by the suspend-to-disk mechanism. It can be written a string representing a non-negative integer that will be used as an upper limit of the image size, in bytes. The suspend-to-disk mechanism will do its best to ensure the image size will not exceed that number. However, if this turns out to be impossible, it will try to suspend anyway using the smallest image possible. In particular, if "0" is written to this file, the suspend image will be as small as possible. Reading from this file will display the current image size limit, which is set to 2/5 of available RAM by default.

Je n'ai donc pas besoin de partitionner, tant mieux.
Par contre, maxire, les manips qui figurent dans ton lien sont les premières que j'ai faites.

Donc si vous avez d'autres idées pour activer l'hibernation.

    As-tu bien positionné la possibilité d'hiberner
                 Paramètres système
                            Energie
                                     Quand la réserve d'énergie est à un niveau critique
                                                                                                          Hiberner      est seulement proposé en grisé??????
                                                                                                          Eteindre      est le seul choix possible    ?

Ajout.   Mon micro, ne me propose pas non plus, la possibilité d'hiberner. Pourtant j'ai une partition swap de 5,88 go.   Je vais l'agrandir pour voir si cela suffit..

Je viens d'agrandir le swap.   Cela ne change rien
Je viens de tester la commande  sudo pm-hibernate . Elle marche bien.

Je viens de terminer  la partie décrite dans la doc

Hibernate your laptop when lid is closed:
1.Edit “/etc/systemd/logind.conf” via command:
sudo gedit /etc/systemd/logind.conf
2. Change the line #HandleLidSwitch=suspend to HandleLidSwitch=hibernate and save the file.
3. Run command below or just restart your computer to apply changes:
sudo restart systemd-logind

Maintenant le bouton   hiberné n'est plus grisé, Je peux le valider.
     Je boote, et je dispose du bouton  "mettre en hibernation".
    Je l'ai fait .   J'ai arrêté, J'ai restarté
                Et j'avais immédiatement la grille terminal restée disponible dans lequel il n'y avait plus besoin de frapper le mot de passe.   
        heureusement que c'est moi qui était présent et pas un autre.   

Attention au piège,    Le dual boot est toujours proposé.......Il faut choisir . Ce n'est qu'après que les applications se retrouvent présentes.
    J'ai rétrécis le swap pour le passer de 6 Go à 2 Go.   Je peux hiberner et au démarrage, je retrouve bien mon fichier libreoffice ouvert.

Ce qui me frappe dans ton partitionnement, c'est l'absence de partition de données !
Potentiellement beaucoup plus grave que le défaut d'hibernation.

Toutes tes données sont soit dans sda2-C:\, soit dans sda6-(/ + /home) ;
un problème dans une des 2 partitions système et... adieu chères données !

J'ai installé le paquet pm-utils mais la commande pm-hibernate lance une tentative d'hibernation mais échoue très vite.

Il faut donc activer l'hibernation par fermeture de l'écran pour pouvoir faire une hibernation normale ? C'est bizarre...

Toutes mes données importantes sont stockées en cloud et disque dur externe.
Si ces deux partitions ont un problème un jour je ne perdrait que des conneries (film, jeux...)

Effectivement j'ai l'option hiberner qui apparaît correctement, ainsi que l’icône à côté de celui pour éteindre.
Néanmoins, l'hibernation ne fonctionne toujours pas (de même que la mise en veille)

Bonsoir.
   j'espère que tu as validé l'option hibernation.
           après il faut arrêter le micro et le relancer pour qu'elle soit sélectionnable dans les options d'arrêt.
             après il faut encore arrêter le micro et le relancer..
                A ce moment là on peut ouvrir un document office,  puis se positionner sur une page P
                           puis choisir d'hiberner
                          puis rebooter en choisissant de redémarrer ubuntu
                               Puis on constate que la page office est absente.... ou présente....
          As-tu fais tout cela?

Oui tout a été fait correctement.

En faite quand j'appuie sur hibernation un écran noir apparaît avec écrit "snapshotting system" puis il me renvoie sur mon bureau et me laisse mon ordi allumé comme si de rien était.

Lorsque je demande l'hibernation voici ce qui se passe sur mon micro.
                     Un écran noir apparaît.   A priori, il n'y a rien d'écrit dedans ou je n'ai pas le temps de lire.
                     Puis mon bureau est réouvert.

                   cette action se répète deux ou trois fois sans que je sache pourquoi deux, pourquoi trois.

Je te propose de rechercher ce qui se passe d'abord au niveau du noyau  puis après on regardera les traces d'exécution de cette fonctionnalite.. Cà existe quelque part

Peux-tu faire la commande.

Tu n'es malheureusement pas le seul à avoir ce problème    https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo … bug=760851
        The only indication in the logs of this behaviour is that it is first
                           "PM: Preallocating image memory...",                         and then immediately afterwards
                          "PM: Basic memory bitmaps freed"                              in what appears to be the first step in resuming my session.

    Si tu as du wifi qui fonctionne, peux-tu le déactiver avant de refaire le test, C'est qu'il m'a semblé comprendre.
       en plus mon micro ne communique pas en wifi.  Il y a tellement de bugs pour le wifi dans ce forum que c'est une piste.....

Pour aller plus loin, il faudrait aller dans les traces de ce package.   C'est une première pour moi. Je l'ai fait sur mon micro de la façon suivante:
                   Ayant constaté que les fichiers de traces étaient énormes, j'ai décidé de les sauver et remettre à zéro.

                                sudo -i
                                cp /var/log/pm-suspend.log  /var/log/pm-suspend.log.SAV 
                                >  /var/log/pm-suspend.log
                                Faire RETURN

Bonjour
    Je viens de passer un peu de temps pour comparer les traces d'hibernation de tes deux fichiers aux traces de mes deux fichiers d'hibernation.
     Je ne peux pas dire  "identique" car il y a une minuscule différence qui ne peut rien expliquer.
                  L'alerte que tu as sur wlan1, est aussi présente sur wlan0 dans la trace de mon micro.
    Je ne sais pas aller plus loin dans cette recherche.

Peut-être qu'un expert qui passe par là. Peut-être qu'une mise à jour résoudra. Peut-être que la cause disparaîtra.

Bonjour,

Je vais dans le même sens que Bougron, à priori rien d'anormal n'est détecté dans le processus de mise en hibernation de même que lors du processus de démarrage le suivant.
Il semblerait même que tout se soit passé correctement d'après ces journaux.

Donc mystère...
