option "installer ubunbtu à côté de windows boot manager"

Bonjour

Je viens d'acheter un portable hybride avec 4Go de mémoire vive, un SSD de 64Go dans la partie tablette/écran et et un DD de 500Go dans le clavier. Je souhaite y installer ubuntu à côté du Windows 8.1 qui est est déjà pré-installé.
J'aurai 2 questions avant de télécharger une version d'Ubuntu 64 bits à mettre sur clé USB :
   - sur la 14.04 il était fortement conseillé d'utiliser l'option "autre chose" comme type d’installation, mais il semblerait que des progrès ont été fait sur 14.10 et que l'on peut maintenant utiliser l'option "installer ubunbtu à côté de windows boot manager" sans risque. Qu'en pensez-vous ?
    - conseillez-vous l'installation seulement sur le SSD de 64Go et de ne pas toucher au DD de 500Go ou bien faut-il aussi partitionner ce DD ?

Oui, seulement une partition racine sur le SSD comme dans ce fil de Overcrash86 au sujet du Transformer Book TX300CA : http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=1608831
Dans ce dernier fil, Overcrash86 a cru utile de créer une partition swap sur le SSD mais je te déconseille d'en créer une si tu as 4 Go de RAM :  ça consomme des Go pour rien. A mon avis, tout Ubuntu concentré dans une partition racine. Il ne faudra pas stocker les documents sur le SSD mais sur une partition de stockage à créer sur le DD (je te conseille le format NTFS puisqu'il permet de stocker en commun avec Windows selon le principe de la Partition de partage de données avec Windows)

Merci pour ta réponse.
Je vais donc installer ubuntu sur le SSD, effectivement sans partition swap car le PC a 4Go de RAM. Mais il faudra peut-etre un /home car il y des documents que je voudrais toujours avoir sous la main quand j'utiliserai la tablette seule.
Pour les docs plus volumineux que j'utiliserai moins souvent, je pense les mettre sur le DD du clavier. Pour cela je pourrai créer une partition de partage en NTFS après l'installation d'ubuntu, avec GParted par exemple. C'est bien çà ?

Sinon que penses-tu de l’installation auto de ubuntu à côté de windows ? D’après ces 3 tutos çà n'a pas l'air de poser de pb :

et sur un sujet du frorum que je n'arrive pas retrouver, il me semble qu'un spécialiste de l'EFI (je crois bien que c'est toi, mais je n'en suis pas sur) disait que installateur auto de ubuntu 14.10 était nettement meilleur que celui de ubuntu 14.04.

C'est quand on a de la place sur un lecteur qu'on crée une partition /home. Dans ton cas où tu dois caser Ubuntu et Windows dans un SSD de 64 Go, de la place tu n'en as pas. Aussi je te suggère de te contenter de prendre une partition racine de taille suffisante pour que tes données et ton système coexistent à l'intérieur. En général, avec 20 Go pour la partition racine, tu n'es pas embêté par l'occupation excessive de la partition racine si le volume de tes données n'excède pas 10 Go ( à mon avis, la place occupée par le système ne dépassera pas 10 Go).

EDIT : pour l'installation automatique, je t'ai prévenu. Oui, j'ai fait des essais qui me montrent que l'installateur de Ubuntu 14.10 s'est bien amélioré pour l'installation dans un préinstallé Windows 8 (il faut dire qu'on partait de très bas). Mais moi je suis expert là-dedans et c'est pourquoi je donne le conseil de prudence.

OK mais Il faut vraiment laisser 44Go minimum à Windows pour qu'il fonctionne ?

merci pour ton conseil de prudence, mais quand entre l’ordinateur et la chaise, il y quelqu'un qui n'y connaît pas grand chose, est-ce qu'il ne vaut mieux pas laisser faire l'installateur auto qui s'est bien amélioré ?
Remarque j'ai lu quelque part que cet installateur auto installait ubuntu sur la partition la plus grande qu'il trouvait. Il se trouve que c'est le DD du clavier. Donc si je veux utiliser l'installateur auto, il faut que je déconnecte la tablette du clavier mais alors est-ce qu'il a un clavier virtuel disponible pendant l'installation ?

Je ne suis pas familier avec l'installation dans un portable hybride aussi je ne sais pas répondre à ta question "est-ce qu'il a un clavier virtuel disponible pendant l'installation". Je renouvelle mon conseil de faire l'installation en mode manuel. Si tu as besoin de conseil avant ou pendant l'install en mode manuel, je pourrai te guider. Par contre, si tu écrases ton Windows 8 en faisant l'installation automatique malgré mes mises en garde répétées, ne compte pas sur moi pour t'aider à le réinstaller parce que je ne sais pas faire ça.

EDIT : pour ta question sur 44Go minimum à Windows, c'est peut-être possible d'arriver à le réduire à moins que ça. Tu verras bien parce que pour réduire la place occupée par Windows, il faut opérer depuis Windows lui-même comme expliqué dans la doc : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/cohabitation_u … our_ubuntu

bon je me suis lancé avec la 14.04.01LTS en suivant le tuto de libre à quimperlé. Tout s'est très bien déroulé jusqu'à la page :

où  j'ai gparted qui pédale dans la semoule pendant son scanning device ...
au bout de 10 min je ferme sa fenetre et là il ne veut meme plus se relancer (sablier pendant 10s puis rien).
J'ai regardé un peu sur les forums pour voir d'où cela peut venir, mais je n'arrive pas à trouver (j'ai bien fait comme sur le tuto pour dégager à partir, de windows, une partition non allouée de 26Go).
Une idée ?

Depuis une session live, fais un Boot-Info et donne l'URL de ce Boot-Info dans ta réponse.Je pourrai peut-être voir ce qui coince.

j'ai suivi à la lettre ton lien boot info mais çà veut pas le lancer à la fin.

Le premier disk c'est la clé usb où est ubuntu. le deuxième c'est le DD de 500Go dans le clavier et là, la commande parted s’arrête plusieurs minutes avant d'écrire d'un coup les 3 erreurs puis le contenu de mon ssd de 64Go. Est ce que gparted patine aussi à cause de ces 3 erreurs ? Sont elle crées à la fin de l'examen du DD de 500Go ou au début de l'examen du ssd ?
Autre question, la partition non allouée que j'ai crée par windows pour contenir ubuntu, n'apparait pas dans le descriptif du ssd. on peut juste la deviner car il manque 28,8GB (=62,5-33,7), mais peut-etre est-ce normal pour la commande parted ?

EDIT : il y a aussi un caractère à la con dans le nom du ssd entre HCG8e  et (sd/mmc) mais çà ne passe pas dans les copié/collé. Je mentionne çà à tout hasard ...

Pour installer Boot-Repair sur ta 14.04 . essaye ceci;

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair

sudo sed 's/trusty/saucy/g' -i /etc/apt/sources.list.d/yannubuntu-boot-repair-trusty.list

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair

boot-repair

J'ai découvert Ubuntu avec la 07.10.... Et alors?!...  Depuis je regarde de temps en temps si Windows marche toujours....

bonjour et merci babdu89
bootrepair fonctionne grâce à tes commandes.
Au début j'ai cru que lui aussi plantait car il m'a fallu 3/4 d'h pour obtenir l'interface. c'est pas un peu birarre vu que mes disk ne sont pas très gros et n'ont quasiment rien dessus (ordi neuf) ?
je trouve que la création du boot summary info est aussi bien longue déjà 10 min et toujours rien !!!
est ce que ces lenteurs auraient un rapport avec les 3 erreurs décelées au post n°10 ?

EDIT : çà y est au bout de 20 min !

J'espère que çà pourra vous aider à comprendre le pb.

Je viens de faire des recherches (et tu as dû en faire également) et je constate que Ubuntu - y compris la toute récente version Ubuntu 14.10 - ne fonctionne pas correctement dans ce modèle medion P2214T pour l'instant. Je n'ai trouvé aucun témoignage d'installation réussie et fonctionnelle d'une distribution Linux en dual-boot avec Windows 8.1
Je ne suis pas capable de t'aider, désolé.

bon ben j'ai laissé tombé et j'ai ramené l'ordi pour me faire rembourser.
D'après ce que j'ai pu voir les erreurs sur /dev/mmcblk0rpmb, /dev/mmcblk0boot0, dev/mmcblk0boot1 au niveau des labels correspondent a une toute petite partition de ma mémoire flash de 64Go sur laquelle je voulais installer ubuntu. Les 2 ou 3 fois où j'ai réussi à faire tourner ubuntu sur ce disque, j'ai eu des messages d'erreur du genre de ceux que l'on peut voir sur ces lien (I/O erreur):

et donc çà me dépasse complètement.
Si çà se trouve c'est dû à l'utilisation de certains emmc à la place de ssd
