Edit : le problème est plus large que le Wifi, c'est la carte mère qui est sérieusement endommagée, plus rien à en tirer.

Je viens faire appel à vos compétences cumulées pour un ordi récupéré auquel j'aimerais donner une seconde jeunesse.
Le Wifi ne fonctionnait pas sur le XP qui était installé, mais vu que je comptais pas le laisser sous XP, je m'en fichais un peu. Problème, ça ne marchait pas mieux depuis le live-CD et pas plus une fois Ubuntu 10.04 installé (j'ai ressorti une ancienne version pour ne pas avoir un système trop lourd vu l'âge de la machine).
Portable : Packard Bell EasyNote ALP Ajax GN
Ca fonctionne bien en ethernet, mais en Wifi, le refus est radical "no wireless extensions" en résultat à la commande iwconfig.
(je précise que le voyant Wifi s'allume normalement dès le démarrage
de la machine).
Donc si vous avez des idées de solution, je suis preneur avant de le renvoyer à la déchetterie à laquelle il était destiné !

En fait, j'avais choisi cette version parce que je l'avais déja gravée dans mes archives CD, et que je n'avais plus de DVD-R sous la main (et suite à une expérience malheureuse en USB bootable, je n'ose plus essayer !).
Après avoir fait quelques achats de consommables, j'ai donc réinstallé à la place une version 14.04. Ce qui m'a résolu au passage les listes d'erreurs qui défilaient au démarrage, mais sans résoudre le souci initial de Wifi !
J'ai donc repris toutes les commandes listées dans mon message initial (pour ne pas vous faire jouer au jeu des 7 différences éventuelles !), et je ne vous remets que les 4 où il y a des différences (visiblement encore moins engageantes, puisque évoquant un wifi déconnecté) :

sdhci 37779 1 sdhci_pciDu coup, je n'ai pas tenté le changement de driver proposé par Foustala. Non pas que je le mette en doute, mais à problème un peu différent, solution probablement un peu différente, et c'est surement plus simple pour vous de ne pas tenter trop de trucs simultanément.
(simplement, j'avais tenté le changement de driver suggéré, mais devant la liste à rallonge d'erreur retournée par les deux dernières commandes indiquées, j'ai directement éteint l'ordi, pour repartir d'une base 14.04.

Je pense effectivement que la machine a quelques autres problèmes plus graves.
C'est après-midi, j'ai du rebooter plusieurs fois pour lancer correctement la machine, qui restait bloquée au démarrage sur le logo constructeur.
Je n'ai pas trouvé de problème du coté du disque dur en analysant ses données SMART.
J'ai saisi tes deux commandes, mais elles sont passées sans rien renvoyer, et sans rien résoudre.
Je pense qu'il va falloir me faire une raison, il doit y avoir des problèmes sur la carte-mère.
