problème installation sur disque dur externe

Bonjour,

nouveau sur ce forum, j'ai voulu installer ubuntu 14.04.1 lts sur un disque dur externede 320g, j'ai windows 7 d'installé sur un disque de 80g. j'installe à partir du cd. après installation je modifie le bios et je boot sur le disque dur externe, et j'ai le messagesuivant file /boot/grub/i386pc/normal.mod not found. je retourne sur ubuntu avec le cd,  je regarde le disque dur externe et je vois bien dans boot...le fichier normal .mod. j'ai fait boot-repair http://paste.ubuntu.com/9486873.

Bonjour,

Normalement le message devrait plutôt être: file /boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod not found.
Ce message devrait logiquement être visible avant l'affichage de la ligne de commande de grub.
Passes alors cette commande:

grub> set

Ce qui m'intéresse ce sont les valeurs des 4 variables root, prefix, grub_cpu et grub_platform, quelles sont-elles?
En plus que donne?

grub> ls

Note: Je vois dans le boot-info qu'une réparation a été réalisée, elle me semble sensée. Cette réparation est-elle efficace?

bonsoir et merci pour la réponse, en effet j'ai oublié le tiret dans le libellé. j ai en effet tenté un boot repair, mais sans effet. j'ecris ce message depuis windows. je relance ubuntu  pour rentrer les commandes. A bientôt

Salut,
au moment de l'installation, tu aurais dû indiquer d'enregistrer Grub sur le disque externe. Comme cela, quand le disque est branché, tu démarres dessus et quand il n'y est pas, tu démarres sur le disque interne. Tu peux toujours rattraper: démarre sur le disque externe et ensuite

sudo grub-install /dev/sdb  # si le disque est en sdb

La connaissance n'est pas une denrée rare, il faut la partager avec les autres.

bonsoir sinbad83, j' ai effectué l'installation à partir du cd, et dans gparted, j'ai bien indiqué la référence du disque externe dans la case demandée, le principe que je voulais est bien celui que tu décris (j avais consulté des tutos sur le forum qui l'expliquaient).
Actuellement j' ai démarré l'ordi sur le cd, en faisant tester ubuntu,est ce que je peux lancer la commande dans la console?

Le paramétrage de grub me semble correct aux variables grub_cpu et grub_platform près c'est peut-être le problème.
La commande ls indique 3 disques, le disque externe hd0 + hd1 et hd2.
Je ne comprends pas ce que sont ces deux disques hd1 et hd2, dans le boot-info seuls deux disques sont détectés, le disque interne noté /dev/sda (Windows) et le disque externe noté /dev/sdb (Ubuntu) hormis le cd.
As-tu bien reporté correctement la commande ls?

Ce n'est pas très important pour l'instant donnes le résultat de:

grub> ls /

je veux juste savoir si elle s'exécute correctement, elle doit comporter entre autres fichiers vmlinuz et initrd.img.
puis

grub> lsmod

Seule la colonne de gauche du résultat m'intéresse.

pardon, j'ai oublié de préciser pour les disques: j 'ai un disque de 80 giga formater en ntfs avec windows7, un disque de 500 giga ntfs pour mes données, et le disque dur externe sur lequel je voudrai installer ubuntu avec démarrage possible sur celui-ci quand il est branché

Grub n'a pas accès à ses commandes de base.
Je réfléchis et surtout je déjeune, ce cas est inusité.

Non, disque dur SATA, mais dans le BIOS, dans harddisk, j ai bien les 3, mais dans boot je ne peux en mettre qu un en plus du lecteur de disque...bon appétit, et merci

Pas normal qu'un disque interne ne soit pas détecté par boot-repair.
Habituellement avec deux disques internes et un disque externe  boot-repair liste en /dev/sda et /dev/sdb les deux internes et /dev/sdc l'externe.
Je pense qu'il vaut mieux laisser tomber le démarrage via grub pour l'instant et investiguer un peu plus.
Tu démarres sur le disque d'installation Ubuntu, tu ouvres un terminal et tu donnes le résultat de:

sudo blkid

En fonction du résultat il sera peut-être possible de réaliser une réparation manuellement.

Désolé de ne pas répondre plus rapidement, j ai un autre problème, mon ordi boucle sur le CD live j ai la mire ubuntu avec les petits points, mais il ne se passe rien. Je vais arrêter pour aujourd'hui , merci pour le temps passe a tenter de m aider. Je réessayerai plus tard

j ai pu relancer ubuntu sur le cd. j'ai débranché mes disques durs, rebranché...donc je peux mettre lerésultat de la commande blkid

j'essayerai peut être de refaire l'installation en débranchant mes 2 disques dur ntfs

Tu as du débrancher puis rebrancher tes disques durs pour pouvoir démarrer par cd, c'est bizarre, cela sent le problème matériel.
Cette fois tous les disques sont visibles, je ne comprends pas ce qui s'est passé avec boot-repair.

Tu peux tenter de réparer grub via un chroot.
Toujours sous Ubuntu en live-cd tu ouvres un terminal:

sudo mount /dev/sdc5 /mnt
for f in /dev /sys /proc /run ; do sudo mount --rbind $f /mnt$f ; done ;
sudo chroot /mnt

Tu te retrouves alors avec un prompt ressemblant à ceci:

root@ubuntu:/#

Tu fais alors:

apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
grub-install --recheck --debug --target=i386-pc /dev/sdc
update-grub
exit

Ensuite:

for f in /dev /sys /proc /run ; do sudo umount -l /mnt$f ; done ;
sudo umount /mnt

Tu redémarres sur le disque externe et si cela ne marche pas, je ne vois pas du tout quoi faire d'autre.

pour Maxire, merci encore pour le temps passé et les tentatives de dépannage, mais j ai abandonné le disque externe, lors des manips que tu m avais donné j avais des erreurs. je pense que le disque est endommagé. finalement j'ai partitionné mon disque de 500 giga, et j 'ai installe la 14.04 dessus. en mettant ce disque en premier dans le boot, j ai bien la possibilité de choisir soit ubuntu soit windows.

Si tu as un doute sur ton disque, vérifie-le avec SmartMonTools. Doc sur https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/smartmontools

La connaissance n'est pas une denrée rare, il faut la partager avec les autres.

Oui problème matériel, cela peut être le disque comme cela peut être la carte mère (reconnaissance bizarre des disques internes lorsqu'un disque externe est connecté).
