Besoin de conseils sur un dual boot
Bonjour à tous !
Je cherche à faire une double installation (dual boot) sur un PC récent (Acer E 15 Start, avec un celeron, 4 Gb de ddr 3, et un disque de 1 To)
L'idée serait d'avoir une partition commune à Linux et à Windows, pour pouvoir y stocker les profils Firefox et Thunderbird, ainsi que mes documents.
Techniquement, est ce viable, faisable, ou est ce simplement une idée idiote ?
Si ce n'est pas une idée idiote 
, comment dois je m'y prendre ?
C'est un PC Acer, sorti de la boite, donc pas grave si je dois reinstaller, il n'y a pour le moment aucun document personnel.
Par contre je suis un peu embêté par la partition de restauration d'Acer. Je n'ai pas de CD fourni, et si ça tourne cosaque, je vais avoir des problèmes. J'ai vu qu'on peu faire une sauvegarde de cette partition sur une clé USB, je crois que je vais m'en occuper avant toute chose...
Au niveau de la méthode, je pensais booter d'abord sur un live cd Gparted, et définir mes partitions par avance, et aprés en avoir passé par cette étape, balancer l'installation d'Ubuntu sur l'espace que j'aurais défini.
(Je sais ce que vous allez me dire : L'installateur d'Ubuntu peu faire cette opération. Je sais, mais je préfère le faire d'abord à la main, ça me rassure !)
A votre avis, est ce la bonne méthode ? Et qu'est ce que j'ai oublié ?

D'abord commencer par vérifier que ton matériel est bien reconnu en mode LiveCD (ou liveUSB).
Si c'est le cas, il faudra que tu nous donne le partitionnement actuel vu par ubuntu (en mode "Live") pour établir un plan de partitionnement.
En effet selon les partitions déjà présentes (partitions principales et logiques), le type de table de partitions (MSDOS ou GPT) et ton bios (legacy / UEFI) les options seront différentes.
Pour connaitre ton partitionnement :
- démarrer une session "Live"
- ouvrir un terminal (avec ctrl+alt+t)
- taper à l'intérieur
sudo fdisk -l(-L en minuscule)
- poster le résultat

Ta description du post #1 ("Acer E 15 Start") ne me permet pas de trouver ton modèle. Peux-tu donner le nom complet de ton modèle (ou alors donne le lien vers une page où on peut voir ses caractéristiques)?

(Au passage, je ne suis pas parvenu à le retrouver sur le site d'Acer, ça met tout de suite en confiance...)
Je viens de booter sur une clé USB, et tout bloque au logo UBUNTU.
Un passage dans le bios pour régler l'ordre de démarrage m'apprend qu'il y a deux modes de démarrage : UEFI, et Legacy, avec un secure boot sur "enabled"
Si je change le boot mode vers "Legacy", j'ai un blabla m'expliquant que "microsoft recommande" ... ouais, ouais, on lui dira...
Et dans l'ordre de démarrage, j'ai :
1 windows boot manager
2 HDD
3 cd rom
4 USB FDD <= ma clé usb
J'ai basculé en legacy, et mis la clé en 1. Mais au reboot ça ne va pas plus loin.
J'ai le logo de Unetbootin qui apparait.
Je vais revenir à la config initiale.

Ton modèle d'ordi serait donc le Acer Aspire ES1-512-C4FR équipé d'un Processeur Intel Celeron N2940
"stemar" a réussi à faire fonctionner Ubuntu 14.10 dans ce modèle comme tu pourras voir dans ce fil : http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=1769851
Par contre, tu ne peux pas faire exactement ce qu'il a fait parce qu'il a viré Windows 8 pour laisser Ubuntu seul alors que toi tu souhaites conserver Windows 8. D'autre part, il a un très sérieux problème d'extinction puisqu’il est obligé de faire un arrêt de sauvage (appui prolongé sur la touche arrêt-marche de l'ordi). Si tu pouvais attendre des jours meilleurs pour installer Ubuntu - quand les développeurs auront trouvé une solution pour gérer correctement le processeur Intel Celeron N2940 - ce serait bien parce que je crois que ce souci d'extinction va t'empoisonner.

Il n'est pas conseillé de modifier les partitions de Windows avec Gparted ( ni avec un autre logiciel tiers d'ailleurs )
Il vaut mieux utiliser le gestionnaire de disque de Windows, et réduire la partition principale pour créer un secteur non alloué.
Ensuite seulement tu lances ta session live d'Ubuntu, et à un moment de l'installation proprement dite tu pourras faire tes partitions manuellement dans cet espace, en utilisant l'option " autre chose "

Il semble qu'il y ait une solution au problème de plantage à l'extinction dont je parle dans le post #7 : elle est donnée dans ce post : http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p … 20#p961212
dans le post, il s'agit d'un modèle Acer ES1-512 et d'une installation de Mint mais la solution doit s’appliquer pour Ubuntu.
La partie utile de ce post est là :
run a terminal and enter :
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
Edit the file by adding these lines to the end:
blacklist dw_dmac
blacklist dw_dmac_core
Save the file and reboot. All should be well. This also fixes the shutdown process which fails to complete without this modification.Je pourrai t'aider à mettre en œuvre cette solution si tu fais l'installation.

@malbo : Après examen par Speecy, le processeur est un celeron N2840 (et pas un 2940)
Et ce que cela change quelque chose ?
Pour démarrer sur une clé, ya pas moyen, je vais graver un live cd *soupir*

Je pense qu'avec la solution proposée dans mon post #8, ça devrait fonctionner avec un celeron N2840. Mais sans la solution, je pense que tu seras ennuyé comme dans ce cas que je viens de trouver en furetant avec Google : https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/259985
Je t'aiderai à mettre en œuvre la solution.

Oui, regarde la mésaventure qui est arrivé ici à une personne qui a utilisé un de ces logiciels : Windows ne démarre plus !

Donc utilise uniquement le gestionnaire de disque de Windows, c'est mille fois plus prudent.
Bien entendu, quand tu installeras Ubuntu depuis ta session live, tu pourras créer autant de partitions que tu voudras dans l'espace libre qui aura été créé.
Cependant moi je conseille de faire au plus simple pour ton nombre de partitions :
- une partition swap ( et encore, si ton PC dispose d'au moins 4 Go de Ram cette partition est devenue inutile, sauf dans de très rares cas de logiciels extrêmement gourmands en RAM )
- une partition racine / ( indispensable celle ci )
Edit : et dans ton cas, tu peux rajouter une partition de partage de données en NTFS ( c'est une bonne idée )
Je ne m’embête même plus à créer une partition /home séparée pour les données car l'on peut parfaitement réinstaller Ubuntu sur lui même sans formater, donc cette précaution supplémentaire est à mon avis devenu obsolète...

(ceci dit, ça expliquerais pourquoi le touchpad n'est pas pris en charge !)

Je ne peux pas te promettre que le touchpad va être pris en charge mais ma position est une position de principe : tu as un ordi très récent et il faut prendre la version la plus récente de Ubuntu.

Bonjour
J'ai un problème avec un micro de ce modèle.
Par le boot-info, j'ai vu que le bios est en EFI et que windows est présent. Il m'a semblé que le dual-boot ne fonctionnait probablement pas.
Puis-je savoir ce que ce problème devient?
