Merci moko, j'aurai bien été incapable de faire cette analyse!
J'ai commandé un SSD 120, il arrivera fin de semaine, donc je jouerai du tournevis ce we.
Pour mon DDE, c'est un disque USB que j'utilise très peu. Il reste débranché sauf les jours de sauvegarde, donc moins usé. Cela dit, j'ai acheté le disque dans le boîtier, donc aucune certitude quand à sa qualité ni sa marque... Je ferai le point une fois le pc ressuscité : dans l'immédiat je laisse ma machine au repos pour économiser ce qu'il me reste de DD...
Pour ce qui est des données sauvegardées, outre le DDE, nous utilisons des clés et Dropbox pour nos fichiers persos, et le cloud pour les photos de famille, donc à part les mp3 (dont une partie est sur nos phones), il y n'aurait pas de perte grave en cas de cash du DD et de sauvegarde foirée sur le DDE...

J'ai bien noté les outils que tu me suggères, et le pb potentiel côté réseau. A voir après la ré install.

Dans l'immédiat je vais me rafraichir la mémoire sur la bonne façon de configurer mes disques en maître/esclave, c'est un peu vieux, tout ça...

Tu peux oublier ! smile
Ça n'était nécessaire qu'avec les disques Pata (alias IDE) à 2 sur une même nappe.

  En revanche il se peut que tu aies à indiquer au bios sur lequel des 2 disques Sata tu désires démarrer en priorité.

Bonjour!
J'espère pouvoir monter mes nouveaux disques aujourd'hui. J'ai pris :
- un SSD Kingston SSD Now V300 - 120 Go pour l'OS
- un Western Digital WD Blue 3,5" - SATA III 6 Gb/s - 1 To (Caviar) pour les données.

Question: le swap est bien à mettre sur le Western Digital pour avoir les meilleures performances?

Oui, la partition swap se met sur le disque rotatif. Cependant ce n'est pas pour une question de vitesse, mais de limitation de l'usure du SSD.
La Doc t'en dira plus, notamment sur le "trim" qui est géré nativement depuis 14.04, mais qu'il faut fixer à la main si on utilise 12.04.

Quelques coups de tournevis plus tard ...

Damned, je n'ai pas pensé à commander un adaptateur pour l'alim... merci de ne pas ricanner bêtement wink ... Je privilégie le SSD et mets donc le disque rotatif en sommeil pour l'instant...

Le reste est opérationnel. Xubuntu 14.04 en 32 bit est installé.
Temps de boot : 39 secondes du Power On à la mire de login (dont 18 secondes dans le BIOS) ... méconnaissable big_smile

Un grand merci à moko138 pour l'aide pas à pas que tu m'as apportée et l'intervention in extremis avant le crash disque que je n'avais pas vu venir...

Il me reste du taff : Recréer les comptes, mettre en service le disque rotatif, restaurer les données, faire de multiples ajustements, voir ce qu'il en est de ma connexion réseau, etc ... mais ce n'est pas l'objet de ce topic.

Je passe donc mon sujet en résolu et encore merci pour le temps passé sur mon problème.

Si oui, regarde combien de Watts elle offre en sortie/output.
Je ne pense pas qu'un SSD ajouté au disque rotatif représente une grosse différence qui puisse excéder les possibilités de ton alim, mais il vaut mieux vérifier.

Mon alim a de multiples sorties sur des plots 4 fils (environ 2cm de large), pour alimenter le graveur et les disques ... sur les quelles il y a 1 adaptateur SATA qui servait à mon DD d'origine. Il me reste des prises libres, il faut juste que j'achète un adaptateur supplémentaire pour mon 2eme disque.
Je regarderais la puissance de l'alim lorsque je réouvrirais la bécane pour y faire le branchement. Ce que je peux te dire, c'est qu'à l'extérieur il est indiqué en input : 3 ampères. Pas sûr que ça préjuge de la puissance restituée à la sortie ...

C'est une alim de 315W qui sort 11A en 12V et 25A en 5V.

Avec un disque rotatif qui consomme 0,55A en 12V et 0,68A en 5V, je crois que je peux me lancer dans le montage d'une baie RAID big_smile


Sinon, le montage et les branchements sont terminés.
- Avec GPARTED, j'ai partitionné le disque rotatif en 2 : un swap de 2Go et une partition pour tout le reste que j'ai montée sur un répertoire /donnees.

Normal, ce saut de plus d'1 minute ? Je l'avais déjà avant de rajouter mon disque mais il ne durait que 50 secondes (cf #32). Je referais un test après le prochain reboot.

Très vite car je pars :
Il reste des choses à faire
- mettre /var/log sur sdbx

- à propos de "sudo cp -av /media/<mon arbo>"
j'aurais fait un max sans sudo, parce que, là, <mon arbo> va être propriété de root !

- Principe : partant d'un disque abîmé, on ne copie que les données perso, pour éviter d'injecter dans le disque neuf les fichiers-système dégradés.
Donc
a) pense, dans <mon arbo>, à bien faire le tri !
b) Si tu as copié ton OS 14.04 vers le disque neuf (je ne vois RIEN concernant le trim dans ton fstab), recommence avec une installation fraîche.

Je n'ai copié que mes données. L'OS a été installé sur la SSD depuis une live, donc pas de pb de ce coté. J'ai juste déplacé le swap pour ne pas le laisser sur la SSD, comme tu me l'as conseillé.


Pour ce qui est du tri : oui, je m'y attelle. Je vais aussi avoir à passer le chmod sur le répertoire commun, et il faut peut-être que je retrouve la page sur le sticky bit.

Déplacement du /var/log : je n'y aurai pas pensé. C'est noté, je regarde ça.


Bref, j'ai encore un peu de taff, mais rien de bien grave.
Et surtout, un boot en à peine 40 secondes, c'est un vrai bonheur ! smile

La Doc dit que le trim est appliqué nativement par 14.04 en cas de SSD.
On sort de l'objet de ce fil et de mes compétences, donc je ne suis pas capable de te dire si ton fstab est correct (à /var/log près) pour un ssd, ou non.

Ouvre un fil à ce sujet, si tu ne trouves pas la réponse dans la Doc ni sur le forum.
