problème partitions grub erreur 17

Bon... j'ai fait une belle connerie et je peine un peu à la rattraper.

Mon PC était un dual boot windows XP (un seul disque).
J'avais dans l'ordre des partitions XP puis une partition logique avec le swap (ubuntu) et une partition de données ; puis une partition ubuntu.

J'ai ré-organisé mes partitions avec gparted sous knoopix.

Depuis j'ai :
en début de disque ma partition ubuntu (avec le système), sur hda3
plus loin, ma partition windows, sur hda2
en fin de disque, mon swap

J'ai essayé de patcher le fichier menu.lst de grub pour bien préciser que je souhaite booter sur hd(0,2) mais je plante au démarrage (erreur 17 après la phase 1.5).

Auriez-vous quelques suggestions ?
