Problème de lecture/écriture avec RAID + LVM

Bonjour,

J'ai actuellement 9 HDD de 2 To montés en Raid 6.

J'ai depuis quelques temps des soucis de lectures avec Samba. Lorsque je lis une vidéo par Samba, la lecture se fige au bout de quelques minutes. Samba ne semble pas être le problème, le problème étant rencontré avec un lecteur multimédia (Dune) et un Mac.

J'ai essayé de tester la vitesse d'écriture/lecture de mon Raid, et les résultats ne semblaient vraiment pas bon. Les tests avec hdparm me semblent inquiétants (2 tests consécutifs) :

Y a t'il d'autres tests à faire pour mesurer la vitesse d'écriture/lecture du Raid ?

J'ai essayé de copier un fichier sur la partition /home/ (qui est sur un autre disque dur en dehors du raid) et la copie commence à 130 MB/s, puis se freeze puis chute à 10 MB/s, ce qui est cohérent avec ce que j'observe lors de la lecture de vidéos.

C'est très difficile de savoir pourquoi tu as cette dégradation progressive des performances en lecture. Déjà il vaudrait mieux faire des tests avec dd plutôt qu'avec hdparm.
Il faudrait vérifier les disques (avec smart) et les partitions (avec fsck) pour voir si un ou plusieurs disques ne rencontrent pas des problèmes, et surtout s'assurer d'abord que la perte de performance n'est pas du à une surcharge du système : processus en cours sollicitant beaucoup les disques, utilisation intensive du swap, etc.

Il n'y a rien de particulier qui tourne, et le proc est normalement largement assez puissant pour une copie smile. Le swap n'est pas utilisé.

Je crois que j'ai essayé un dd et les résultats n'étaient pas plus probants.

Et pour le premier disque (/dev/sda), c'est mon disque système, donc, quand je fais une copie du raid par samba, ça ne devrait pas jouer si ?

Est-ce que la RAM peut être défectueuse ?

Bon, je continue mes tests.

La copie d'un fichier du raid sur un disque externe se fait à 2 Mo/s ...

Ce que je ne comprends pas  c'est que je n'ai pas de message d'erreur du raid ou de mdadm (ou du moins je n'en ai pas vu).

Est-ce qu'il y a un moyen pour tester chaque disque pour voir si le problème vient d'un disque (en sachant que chaque disque est sain) ?

La lecture d'un fichier vidéo depuis le raid directement sur l'ordinateur rame (ce qui est cohérent avec un problème de lecture/écriture). La lecture du même fichier copié sur le disque système (hors raid) ne pose aucun problème.

Je pense que je peux donc éliminer un problème de RAM, de processeur ou de carte graphique. Je ne pense pas non plus que ce soit un problème d'alimentation.

Le problème peut donc venir d'un (ou de plusieurs) disque dur, d'une carte fille SATA ou d'un cable.

Le soucis maintenant va être de savoir quel disque ralentit le système. Je suis en raid 6, donc même s'il y a deux disques défaillants, normalement, si je monte mon raid en lecture seule, je devrais arriver à tout récupérer (avec une vitesse de lecture normale).

Tes disques du RAID ne présentent pas de défaillance alarmante, aucune raison que la cause vienne de là.
Ton RAID6 n'est pas en cours de reconstruction, il devrait donc avoir un taux d'accès en lecture / écriture tout à fait conforme.
Il faudrait que tu fasses un test croisé en faisant la copie d'un disque seul (autre que ton raid) vers ton disque système, pour voir si tu as aussi des symptômes de ralentissement ou si c'est vraiment ton raid qui pose problème.
Auquel cas, vérifie si l'ensemble de tes partitions assemblées dans le raid sont correctement alignées, et si elles sont toutes sur des frontières de cylindres. En particulier, une hypothèse à considérer serait que tu aies des disques avec un bloc physique de 512o et d'autres avec un bloc de 4Ko, dans ce cas bien sûr il faut tout aligner sur des blocs de 4Ko.

Bon courage, ton raid ne présente pas de siutation de perte de données, et hormis l'age de tes disques et des défaillances de surchauffe enregistrées par le passé il n'y a pas de raison que tu en rencontre.

Je suis assez d'accord avec ton analyse sur le fait que le raid a l'air d'aller bien ...

Je viens d'effectuer un test croisé entre un disque dur externe et mon disque système et j'obtiens un taux de transfert de l'ordre de 40 Mo/s, ce qui est correct je pense pour de l'USB 2.

Ce que tu me dis me rassures, parce que là, je suis en train d'envisager un achat d'un gros Synology et si je peux l'éviter ...

J'ai modifié dernièrement la taille d'un volume sur LVM (et cette modification a eu lieu à peu près en même temps que le début de mes problèmes). J'avais fait la modification avec une interface graphique (Gestionnaire de volumes logique). Je me rends compte d'ailleurs que j'ai un volume logique (.dev.mvg/Videos) qui contient deux segments. Est-ce que cela peut poser problème ?

Est-ce qu'il y a un moyen pour que je teste les performances de chacun des disques ? Est-ce qu'il faudrait que j'arrête le raid pour pouvoir les tester ?
