Ubuntu 14.04.4
Bonjour,
J'essaye depuis hier d'installer Ubuntu 14.04.4 en remplacement du 10....
malgré Boot-repair le bios sur le demarrage du CD rien y fait.

Cette phrase est totalement incompréhensible. reformule stp. Que fais-tu ou essaie de faire?

Ce n'est pas un boot-info, mais une tentative ratée d’installation de
boot-repairdepuis une karmic (=9.10) version complètement obsolète.

Est-ce que tu arrives à démarrer une session Live de Lubuntu 14.04.1 LTS (on voit dans ton post #1 que c'est le CD qui était présent quand tu as tenté de faire ton Boot-Info) ?
Je te prie de donner quelques infos sur l'ordi. Si c'est un modèle acheté dans te commerce, je prie de donner le nom complet de ce modèle et son fabricant. Si c'est un ordi "assemblé", donne la référence de la carte-mère et quelques autres infos basiques (processeur, carte graphique, RAM)

il ne démarre qu'avec la version Ubuntu installée,
cet un PC maison avec une CG MSI "K9N6 SGM-V" un AMD Sempron 2200 et 2 x DDR2 de 800 sans carte graphique pour une utilisation bureautique.
J'ai voulus installer Ubuntu 14.04.4 que j'avais mais rien à faire.

La partie graphique intégrée est NVIDIA GeForce 6100 : je crois que cette carte graphique n'est plus gérée par Ubuntu.
Tu as combien de Mo de RAM ? Tu as écrit "2 x DDR2 de 800" mais c'est 800 MHz. Moi, c'est les Mo qui m'intéressent...

Bon j'ai quand même réussi, effectivement il y a une erreur dans le gravage.
par contre j'ai une version 16.04 en i386 et en amd64 valable, est ce que je peux utiliser avec mon vieux pc ( ci-dessus ) ?

Mieux vaut d'abord essayer avec la i386.
Ensuite, si la version 64 bits veut bien, pourquoi pas.
Vive Richard Stalmann, Linus Torvalds, et tous les fondus de Linux.

par contre aucun des 2 ne démarre, dois-je formater le DD est avec quelle ligne de commande ? sur le DD il y a la version 9... dans le bios j'ai une priorité sur le CD.

NV4E (C51) GeForce 6100 (Go) / nForce 410/430, 6150 (Go) / nForce 430 voir ici Sauf subtilités.

Ce n'est pas prudent de formater le DD.
Si ça ne veut pas démarrer pour le moment avec quelque chose sur le DD ou rien, le problème est ailleurs.
Il faudrait nous donner des précisions.
La version 16.04 ne loge plus sur un CD, il faut un DVD.
Tu te souviens où tu as récupéré la version ?

La 1604 n'est pas encore tip-top, mieux vaut encore essayer avec la 1404 correctement téléchargée, puis gravée sur un dvd

Comme le rappelle lucmars, la version 16.04 n'est pas totalement fiabilisée (quoique chez moi, pas de soucis), prudence, une Xubuntu 14.04 sera plus légère vu l'âge de la machine.
Xubuntu, avec l'environnement XFCE c'est plus léger, moins gourmand en ressources pour la machine, qu'Ubuntu qui par principe a l'interface Unity.

@lucmars : excuse ma candeur dans ce domaine, mais ça veux dire quoi ce que tu as indiqué dans ton post #17 ? Est-ce qu'il faut comprendre qu'il n'y a rien à faire de particulier et que le pilote graphique "nouveau" qui vient de base va se démerder pour gérer cette carte graphique sans souci ?

Salut Malbo, comme d'hab c'est "non contractuel" tel que l'équipe nouveau le dit
Be aware that this list may be outdated and incomplete. Nouveau aims to support all NVIDIA cards, but no effort is made to document which cards (and BIOSes) actually work, as this is deemed infeasible. Just try it and submit bug reports if it doesn't work.
Enfin, si le pilote "nouveau" tacle telle carte listée, le fait-il bien ou pas....just try and submit

sinon lspcu pour connaitre l'archi de son proc, et donc en déduire la version optimale
