@JLK, merci pour ta suggestion, mais cela n'est pas possible car la 15.10 que j'utilise au quotidien fonctionne sans aucun problème de reboot intempestif ou d'écran qui se fige.

@Kholo, j'ai testé la 16.04.1 avec un noyau différent, puis la 16.10 qui tourne avec un noyau 4.8, et toujours le même problème.

Par contre, après lecture de ce topic, j'ai fait un boot repair et je pensais avoir la solution, mais idem. Je vais quand même essayer une nouvelle installation plus propre car je pense que ça vient de là, notamment du mode EFI.

Hansi, tu as une fresh install et des instabilités
ton portable ?
le même que Quaza ?
et donc le super taf de Malbo !
bon, attention de ne pas trop survoler les propositions...
Il faut prendre le truc autrement...
par exemple pour appliquer ma proposition,
tu pars d'une installation d'une 16.04 lts
tu relèves le noyau et tu le mets dans un coin

uname -a

ensuite tu appliques une post install (voir ma version)
l'idée est d'avoir une base saine et surtout commune au plus grand nombre pour remonter des infos... n'hésites pas à remonter les bugs quand le système le demande (avec le mdp sudoer)... c'est aussi comme ça que fonctionne et est tenu Ubuntu (et les autres)
installer un petit bureau (Lxde par exemple), pour voir si sortir de "gnome" solutionne le problème.
tu as open box dessus qui est intéressant à tester (là c'est du super light !)
pour finir nettoyage

ce n'est qu'à ce moment qu'il faut débusquer les bugs et les régler
commence par identifier ton matériel :

lspci -nnk | egrep -iA3 "VGA"
sudo lshw -c video

les pilotes propriétaires
tu peux voir avec l'installation de xf86-video-intel
ensuite monter des noyaux plus récents
ensuite la gestion des modules du noyau et surtout ici
et ce post de Bougron

Si au milieu de tout cela tu as une config qui peut suffir, tu peux patiemment attendre que la remontée de bugs amène les progs à solutionner ton problème (qui doit être reproduit certainement chez d'autres qui doivent suivre le même processus).

As-tu testé en live ISO Ubuntu 16.04.1 en variante GNOME ? J'ai exactement le même ordinateur que toi. A sa sortie, j'avais testé Ubuntu 16.04 sous Unity, la version originale donc. J'avais immédiatement constaté quelques lenteurs d'affichage. Peut-être que j'aurais rencontré les mêmes problèmes de plantage et de reboots. Je n'ai donc pas fait d'installation. Je me suis aussitôt orienté vers la variante Gnome qui tourne à merveille. Depuis la 16.04, Unity est devenu trop gourmand en ressources, et finalement peu friendly user. Cette interface touche à sa fin de toute façon, prochainement remplacée par Unity 8 (encore loin d'être convaincante !!!).
Gnome avec toutes ses extensions, un thème sympa (Paper par exemple) est vraiment top...

Tout d'abord je confirme que la 15.10 fonctionne sans aucun pb, et que la 15.04 tournait nickel. Ensuite, pas moyen de faire un memtest au démarrage, et sur la 16.04 en live cd pas de choix vers memtest86. Petite piste?
Je vais tester la 15.10 sur ma petite partition dédiée aux essais et je vais voir si j'ai les mêmes pb, auquel cas cela voudra dire que le pb est en relation avec l'installation.
Après pour tes recomandations, faut un peu de temps...vais me pencher dessus.

Tu veux dire que dans le menu GRUB au démarrage, tu n'as pas d'entrée de memtest86+ ?

C'est ça, pas de memtest86 en mode live usb!
Par ailleurs, j'ai installé la 15.10 sur ma petite partition dédiée aux test de distributions, et là aucun pb d'écran qui se fige, ni de reboot! C'est donc bien un pb lié aux 2 dernières versions avec ma machine. Test imparable en fait. Mais bon cela ne fait pas mes affaires, car la solution va pas être facile...
J'ai aussi testé la 16.04.1 avec gnome et exactement les mêmes pb! Par contre, j'ai redécouvert gnome, et je suis convaincu, je vais donc m'installer la 15.10 avec Gnome sur la partition principale (juste un petit souci avec le bluetooth, mais je posterais un fil si je ne trouve pas le pb).

bah si justement...
tu parles des versions de Nux comme de doz...
si ya un truc mis de côté dans les nouveaux noyaux, ça peut expliquer les plantages...
et pourquoi les versions 15 et pas une 14 maintenue jusqu'en 2019 ?
je crois qu'il faut revenir aux bases et suivre les MàJ en LTS.
si tu maîtrises le multiboot, met une 16 dans un coin et maintient une 14 jusqu'à son terme...
d'ici là c'est peut être le PC qui aura lâché ou sera changé !

Merci pour ton message. Yes je maîtrise le multiboot, mais j'aime bien avoir une distribution récente, même sur ma partition ppale. J'utilise uniquement linux depuis bientôt 15 ans, donc je confonds pas  avec windows, notamment dans les versions. Je connais la politique d'ubuntu, pas de soucis.
Non, ce qui m'intrigue en plus, c'est que Régis13 fait tourner la 16.04 sur la même machine...suis un peu vert!

Bonjour hansi
Oui il est vrai que c'est vraiment intriguant. On peut penser à un problème hardware mais bon avec la 15.10 aucun souci. C'est vraiment un casse-tête !!!! La seule différence est que j'ai installé qu'un seul système sur une seule partition principale. Je ne connais pas le fonctionnement des disques SSD mais je me pose la question d'une éventuelle panne. Peut-être faire un check complet de ton SSD...
En procédant par élimination, à machine égale, à système égal (même fichier ISO téléchargé et vérifié sur les serveurs officiels), à installation égale sur une seule partition principale, s'il y a plantage, il s'agit d'un problème matériel. Oui j'y pensais, il vaut mieux vérifier les ISO téléchargés avec un checksum pour éliminer les erreurs logicielles.

bon,
si tu connais la philosophie Linux, tu devrais te poser sur une LTS comme machine principale.
ensuite, si tu veux t"amuser au tamagochi avec d'autres distribs, tu as les partitions dédiées ou les VM.

Maintenant si tu veux une 16.04 et que ta machine est spéciale (pas spécialement exotique mais plus comme certains Tosh, Dell ou Lenovo), les problèmes de drivers se passent au niveau du noyau.
Ce pourquoi, je t'invite à retenter une installation d'une 16.04.01 (la plus récente) et d'avancer dans l'ordre pour nous donner des retours.
Francisation, mise à jour, post-install. ; à partir de là donner des infos sur les plantages ou reboot :

dmesg

jeter un œil dans les journaux en partant à rebours depuis le crash à sa cause
... j'ai pas d'autres idées mais les autres followers vont nous aider !

et donner les infos de bases

lsb_release -a
uname -a
sudo lshw
lspci

une distrib est référencée par son origine ET sa version.
Cette version est liée à un noyau et toutes les dépendances en découlent (certaines complètement, d'autres pas du tout !). Canonical valident leur dépôts et garantissent le SAV (même si c'est gratuit).

Ensuite, au niveau du noyau, tu as le principe de rétrocompatibilité :
ça c'est Linus qui s'en occupe !
Un matériel peut être blacklisté ; et donc conservé dans le noyau mais inhibé... ou inversement il faut blacklister un matériel pour que le tien soit reconnu.

Du côté graphique pur, tu peux jouer avec les bureaux pour utiliser certaines bibliothèques ou d'autres (d'où l'ajout de gnome ou de Lxde)... cela peut avoir une influence sur la stabilité.

Pour les autres recherches du côté de la mem ou de grub, cela me semble vain si tout fonctionne en 15.x !

voilà, je pense que tu as assez de pistes pour faire avancer le schmilblick.

Si c'est une mise à jour pouvant être effectuée depuis le BIOS (ou du moins l'UEFI ?), ça se fait depuis une clé USB. Bien entendu, il est nécessaire de télécharger le BIOS/UEFI du modèle de la carte mère depuis le site du fabricant.

Pas de quoi. Le forum sert à s'entraider. ASUS ne donne pas de détails sur les corrections et améliorations des MAJ du BIOS développé par American Megatrends.

Bon c'est fait suis passé en version 213 du 15/12/2015, le même que toi, on va tester la machine avec ce new BIOS et je vous tiens informés!
