Je ne connais pas le bios de ton PC, et je suis donc incapable de déterminer d'une part si les valeurs affichées sont correctes ou non, et d'autre part, comment entrer dans la section relative à la définition des priorités des périphériques dans la séquence de démarrage.
Mais j'ai cru comprendre que tu pouvais démarrer à partir du CD-ROM, ce qui prouve que le PC sait gérer des priorités de démarrage.
Par ailleurs, si le démarrage à partir du CD-ROM s'effectue toujours sans difficulté, la probabilité de corruption de ton bios me semble extrêmement faible (certains diraient pas abus de langage excessivement faible). J'opterais plutôt sur des problèmes disque. Pour obtenir des informations sur la qualité de ton disque, et les publier ici, je te conseille de suivre cette notice écrite par malbo.

Perso, je ne regarde que les lignes suivantes dans un résultat SMART : Reallocated_Sector_Ct et Current_Pending_Sector
Chez toi, elles sont parfaites puisqu'elles sont à 0 toutes les deux dans la colonne RAW_VALUE (aucun secteur réalloué ni en attente de réallocation).
Pour moi, le pb n'est pas imputable à un dysfonctionnement du disque dur.

Merci malbo, donc le mystère reste entier.
Chaque démarrage doit être fait au moins deux fois pour aboutir, sauf rare exception.
Soit je me retrouve écran noir mais allumé, clavier et souris (USB tous les 2) inopérants, soit je me retrouve écran éteint, dans les deux cas je suis obligé de rebooter en forçant l'arrêt puisque le clavier ne répond pas. ensuite, quand il a démarré, il fonctionne bien.

grub entretient quelques variables qui influent le démarrage. De même, il interprète également le fichier /boot/grub/grub.cfg, si ce fichier existe, ce qui ni devrait pas être le cas.
Je ne crois pas trop que le problème vienne de là, mais comme je ne vois aucune autre raison qui pourrait expliquer ce comportement erratique, indique s'il te plaît le retour des commandes
grub-editenv list
cat /boot/grub/custom.cfg
La première commande présente la liste et la valeur des variables en question, la seconde l'existence et le contenu du fichier.

Lorsque tu démarres, des périphériques amovibles sont-ils branchés ? et dans l'affirmative, peux-tu s'il te plaît publier un nouveau rapport de démarrage, ces périphériques étant connectés ? Les cartes SD sont, à ma connaissance, et sur mon PC, des périphériques amovibles. J'ai, à une époque, connu des problèmes de démarrage apparemment erratiques du fait de la présence ou de l'absence d'une telle carte sur laquelle j'avais installé grub.

Je viens d'essayer, les deux commandes ne donnent rien, la première aucune réponse la seconde "pas de fichier".
J'avais laissé en veille l'ordi cet après midi, en rentrant je l'ai rallumé, OK, puis tout s'est figé. Plus de souris, plus de clavier. Donc je force l'arrêt, je redémarre, rien. Je redémarre et j'arrive après le Grub sur un écran violet et rien. Le troisième coup fut le bon! C'est agaçant quand même, surtout de ne pas comprendre pourquoi. Les pannes aléatoires sont toujours plus embêtantes que les pannes franches!

Que les commandes ne donnent rien n'est pas en soi surprenant. J'ai émis l'hypothèse de variables qui modifieraient le fonctionnement de grub et de l'existence du fichier /boot/grub/custom.cfg parce que c'étaient là deux sources potentielles d'un comportement aléatoire. Mais je n'y croyais pas vraiment.
Je ne peux personnellement malheureusement pas faire plus, mais je serai très intéressé d'apprendre la raison de cette difficulté que tu as rencontrée.

J'en suis toujours au même point, ou presque. Mercredi tout s'est bloqué, je ne pouvais plus obtenir qu'une invite GRUB_RESCUE dont je n'ai rien réussi à tirer, ce qui ne m'a pas étonné vu le nombre d'arrêts sauvages tout doit se mélanger là dedans. J'ai fini par réinstaller UBUNTU en le laissant faire pour les partitions, ce qui a donné cela :
Premier boot OK, second aussi, et ensuite ça recommence, il se perd et j'aboutis à un écran noir sans clavier ni souris, donc je re boote enfin bref pas terrible.

Voilà le résulta du boot info, je me suis appliqué à le lire c'est interessant quand on rentre dans le rythme de l'écriture, ça m'a rappelé des cours de programmation que j'avais suivi dans les années 70 (1970) avec un ingénieur de Texas Instruments avec qui on avait monté un club informatique, souvenirs souvenirs.
Mais j'en suis toujours au même point sinon. La session live marche très bien je n'ai jamais de problème avec elle c'est déjà ça!

Je ne vois que deux choses bizarres dans le boot-info qui puissent rattacher ton problème à un souci de démarrage :

Je ne comprends pas pourquoi tu as un grub signé pour un PC avec un bios classique.
Mais je doute que ça suffise à expliquer tes problèmes. Perso, j'ai des gels de pc sur un Fujitsu avec Mint18 si j'utilise le pilote graphique open-source pour ma carte Nvidia. Avec le pilote officiel, ça fait planter Cinnamon. J'ai dû repasser par Mate pour avoir un PC qui fonctionne correctement.

A la fin j'ai ce message,

Les fichiers de démarrage de [L'OS actuellement utilisé - Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS] sont loin du début du disque. Votre BIOS pourrait ne pas les détecter. Vous voudrez peut-être re-essayer après avoir créé une partition /boot (EXT4, >200MB, en début de disque). Cela peut être réalisé via des outils tels que gParted. Puis sélectionnez cette partition via l'option [Partition /boot séparée :] de [Réparateur de démarrage]. (http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/tutoriel/partition_boot)
C'est peut-être une piste? J'ai l'impression quand le boot n'aboutit pas qu'il se "perd" en route, ce qui me console est qu'il fonctionne vraiment bien et que les live session sont OK, ce qui élimine un problème du à l'ordi à mon avis.

Ce qui est anormal précisément c'est que Grub2 soit installé dans le secteur de boot de la partition sda1. Ce que je crains, c'est que Grub ait enregistré dans ses tablettes que l'emplacement du chargeur d'amorçage est le secteur de Boot de sda1 alors que ce devrait être le MBR du disque dur sda. Pour vérifier ce point, je te prie de passer la commande suivante :
sudo debconf-show grub-pc
puis de coller le retour utilisable de cette commande dans ta réponse.

Depuis la réinstallation d'Ubuntu que j'ai faite j'ai eu un boot où je suis arrivé sur une page noire mais j'avais le clavier donc j'ai utilisé les touches magiques et il a bien rebooté, j'ai alors fait de nouveau un boot-repair comme je l'ai indiqué dans le message du 26/11 et depuis ça marche correctement.

Effectivement, on peut voir dans cette ligne que c'est mauvais :

La mention "-part1" en fin de ligne indique le secteur de boot de la partition sda1.
Pour rectifier cela, tu peux suivre la procédure de ce post en sautant "1) ÉTAT DES LIEUX" pour attaquer directement à "2) MISE A JOUR DE GRUB-PC". A la "5ème étape", tu sélectionneras "sda".
Au "3) VÉRIFICATION", tu devras trouver que la mention "-part1" a disparu à la fin de la la ligne qui nous intéresse (EDIT : cette ligne est fausse. Voir mon mea culpa du post #45) :

A quoi ça sert de s'emmerder à faire ça ? En cas de mise à jour importante de Grub incluant une mise à jour du chargeur d'amorçage de Grub, il n'y aura pas de connerie : ce sera bien le chargeur d'amorçage de Grub qui se trouve dans le MBR du disque dur qui sera mis à jour.

Je me rends compte que je suis un crétin de t'avoir fait modifier le paramétrage de ton Grub. Ton réglage initial était correct. La ligne que tu avais dans le post #42 était comme ça :

On y voit deux parties :
"/dev/disk/by-id/ata-SAMSUNG_HD103SJ_S2QPJ9AB601216" qui signifie qu'il y a un chargeur d'amorçage de Grub dans le MBR du disque dur sda.
"/dev/disk/by-id/ata-SAMSUNG_HD103SJ_S2QPJ9AB601216-part1" qui signifie qu'il y a un chargeur d'amorçage de Grub dans le secteur de Boot de la partition sda1. Par conséquent, ce paramétrage initial de Grub était conforme à ce qu'on peut voir dans le Boot-Info du post #41 et il n'y avait pas lieu de le modifier. Je suis désolé de t'avoir fait faire cette modif inutile. Je pense que quand tu es arrivé à la 5ème étape du Tuto, tu as trouvé deux cases cochées : une case pour sda et une case pour sda1. Tu te serais donc contenté de décocher la case sda1 pour ne laisser que la case sda cochée. Tu confirmes ?

Je te suggère de refaire la manip pour recocher la case sda1 (en laissant cocher la case sda). Tu remets ainsi dans l'état initial, avec les deux cases cochées.

C'est parfait. En cas de grosse mise à jour de Grub incluant une réinstallation des chargeurs d'amorçage de Grub, il y aura réinstallation des deux chargeurs : celui qui se trouve dans le MBR du disque dur sda et celui qui se trouve dans le secteur de Boot de la partition sda1. Même chose en cas de mise à niveau - par le Gestionnaire de mise à jour - de Ubuntu vers une future version (la 18.04 ?) : les deux chargeurs seront mis à niveau également puisqu'ils seront tous les deux réinstallés automatiquement lors de la mise à niveau (*).
Peux-tu confirmer que dans l'état actuel ton souci de démarrage aléatoire tel que tu l'as décrit dans le post #1 n'existe plus ? Si oui, quelle est l'action qui a permis de régler le problème à ton avis ?
(*) Pour information : dans ce rapport de bug #1289977, il y a des exemples variés de catastrophes lors d'une mise à niveau quand l'emplacement du (ou des) chargeur d'amorçage de Grub n'est pas correctement enregistré dans Grub.

Ce matin il a bloqué sur une page mauve, mais après il a bien fonctionné, j'avais plein de boulot et ça a été. Je te confirmerai si ça tient, il y a le texte à la fin du Boot-report qui me questionne, celui où ils conseillent de créer une partition au début du disque pour y mettre le fichier de démarrage, mais en lisant sur le forum il me semble que ce n'est plus d'actualité. Qu'en penses-tu? Merci en tout cas.
