Grub ne s'affiche pas toujours
Bonjour,
J'ai installé ubuntu en dual boot avec windows8 sur un portable Dell (inspiron 15).
Dans la section boot du bios , si je met ubuntu en 1er position, le pc démarre ubuntu sans afficher grub. Si je met windows, le pc démarre windows correctement.
Maintenant si au démarrage je vais dans le "boot menu" (touche F12 sans passer par setup du bios), et que je choisi ubuntu, grub s'affiche bien et je peux choisir quel système je veux lancer.
(Pour info si je met windows en choix par défaut du grub et que je démarre l'ordinateur avec ubuntu en 1er position dans la section boot du bios l'ordinateur démarre sur windows).
Comment faire pour que grub s'affiche à chaque démarrage (sans devoir passer par "boot menu"?
J'ai fait des réparations avec boot-repait mais ça n'a rien donné.

En commentant la ligne "GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden" du fichier "/etc/default/grub" peut-être...
gedit admin:///etc/default/grubAjouter un petit " # " à cette entrée pour qu'elle devienne :
# GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hiddenPuis faire :
sudo update-grubAmicalement

Bonsoir,
Merci pour la rapidité de la réponse. Je viens de faire la manip mais cela n'a pas résolu le problème. L'ordinateur démarre sous ubuntu sans afficher le grub.

Je n'ai pas l'habitude d'interpréter les "rapports de boot-repair" et je ne vais pas m'aventurer à faire des préconisations.
Il faut laisser faire ceux qui savent...
[Mode taquin ON] Par contre j'y vois une joyeuse pagaille : 8 partitions pour un Windows 8... ça me paraît quelque peu excessif... Heureusement que notre ami n'est pas sous Windows 95

Si je comprends bien, Windows 7 est installé sur sda5 et Ubuntu 20.04 LTS est installé sur sda9 (une seule partition pour le root et le home)
Windows semble installé en UEFI, mais je ne sais pas pour Ubuntu...
Pour le savoir, lancer Ubuntu et faire dans un terminal :

Les deux OS sont en efi et c'est correct. Pour ce rapport t'as booté buntu via le boot-order et on y voit que grub est hidden.
Boot buntu via f12, qui donc affiche le grub et donne le retour de
cat /etc/default/grubGaulois Matter !

C'est très curieux cette histoire, via f12 le fichier grub est bien configuré pour s'afficher.
Rebootes via f12 et fais un boot-info pour comparer avec le précédent boot-info.

Faire une réparation juste pour afficher le grub, c'est pas le mieux car le boot est fonctionnel dans les deux cas (f12 et boot-order). À tout prendre ce sera en dernier recours.

sans passer par boot menu (ubuntu en 1ere position dans bios section boot), l'ordinateur démarre sur ubuntu sans afficher le grub.

Timeout: 0 seconds...d'où serait extraite cette donnée?
...ça ne correspondrait pas aux valeurs pour GRUB_TIMEOUT dans le fichier /etc/default/grub; c.f. le commentaire #10.

Si tu parles de cette valeur dans; efibootmgr -v .

Çà correspond au temps qui s'écoule avant amorçage du système choisi.
Chez moi la valeur est à 2 secondes, le menu grub s'affiche à peut près après ce temps. Mais le menu grub s'affiche.
Je suis aussi à lire ce sujet, et je ne trouve pas de solution.
D'autant plus qu'il y affichage du menu grub en passant par F12. Donc les paramètres du fichier /etc/default/grub conviennent, si il y a affichage de grub.
Comme chez moi, avec un Dell Latitude E4310 .
À tester;
Pour passer le temps qui s'écoule avant amorçage à 10 secondes par exemple. On passe la commande;
sudo efibootmgr -t 10 Mais je ne pense pas que çà change quelque chose à l'affichage du menu grub ou pas.
Comme on ne peut plus voir le contenu complet des fichier /boot/grub/grub.cfg dans les rapport boot-info.
@ Boby349. Après modif du fichier /default/grub, tu as bien fais une maj de grub;
sudo update-grubpour que la modif soit prise en compte?.

J'ai deux installations Ubuntu 20.04.
Une en mode UEFI , une autre en mode Bios_Legacy.
Au démarrage des deux systèmes, il y a affichage du menu grub.
Le contenu de /etc/default/grub est identique dans les deux systèmes.

Et bien oui!. C'est ce qui m'interpelle, mais j'ai la même chose chez moi dans mes deux 20.04. Çà démarre en affichant le menu grub aussi bien en Bios_Legacy ou je peux lancer Ubuntu ou Windows, qu'en UEFI, ou je ne peux démarrer que Ubuntu, ce qui est normal, Windows étant installé en Bios_Legacy.
Va comprendre?...

Je viens de regarder dans mes hdd externes, tous les 20.04 ont le même paramétrage dans /etc/default/grub, et aussi dans les 18.04.
Le paramétrage de l'affichage ou non du menu grub depuis ces Os , ne se ferait-il pas maintenant à l'installation, depuis de nouveaux paramètres de grub lors de l'installation?.
Installation en Os seul sur la machine, pas d'affichage du menu grub.
Installation en dual ou multi boot, affichage du menu grub, avec un nouveau paramètre que l'on ne connaît pas? . Je suis bien incapable de le dire. Et je ne peux même pas tester une installation Os seul dans la config. Mes machines étant multi disques multi boot.
À l'installation de grub, Os-prober cherchera et trouvera les autres systèmes installés sur le config.

Alors j'ai essayé la manip d'écrite.
- J'ai booté ubuntu en passant par boot order (F12)
- lancé la commande sudo os-prober, elle renvoie
/dev/sda1@/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi:Windows Boot Manager:Windows:efi- ensuite j'ai fait sudo update-grub
Après redémarrage le grub ne s'affiche toujours pas. Ubuntu se boot directement.

J'ai découvert Ubuntu avec la 07.10.... Et alors?!... Depuis je regarde de temps en temps si Windows marche toujours....
