Nvidia, compiz et dual screen impossible

Bonjour tout le monde!

V'la quelques temps déjà, je me suis fais un cadeau, une 9800GX2 (pour info, et avant qu'on me dise "bien fait pour ta gueuuuuule", je l'ai achetée parce que je fais de la troidé et je joue un peu sous winXP)
Avec les pilotes proprio (installés avec le gestionnaire de pilotes proprio), j'ai soit compiz, soit le dualscreen, mais impossible d'avoir les deux en même temps (si j'essaye de démarrer Compiz quand je suis en dualscreen, j'ai "The Composite extension is not available" qui me saute à la tête avec vilain panneau d'interdiction!

Dans Nvidia-settings, lorsque je choisis la méthode de dualscreen,  j'ai le choix entre "Disabled" (autant dire que ca m'intéresse pas ^^) et "Separate X screen". "TwinView" est quand à lui grisé, je ne peux donc pas le choisir. Je pense que mon problème vient de là, puisque lorsque j'avais une 7800GT, j'utilisais TwinView pour le dualscreen et j'avais compiz sans problème.

La version du pilote que m'a installée le gestionnaire de pilote est la 169.12+2.6.24.13-19.45 (rien que ca big_smile )

Est-ce que quelqu'un pourrait me dire comment faire fonctionner le dualscreen et compiz-fusion en même temps?

Il te manque "the composite extension" visiblement.
tu as les packets "compiz-fusion-plugins-core" et "compiz-fusion-plugins-extra" d'installé?


s'il n'y a pas de solution, c'est qu'il n'y a pas de problème... ou pas.

"compiz-fusion-plugins-core" apparemment non, mais faut croire qu'il existe pas ^^

compiz-fusion-plugins-extra par contre est bien installé

Tu as les ajouté les dépots universe et multiverse?
(peut être restricted, mais j'y crois pas)

ils sont tous présents, je n'ai même pas eu a y toucher.
Mais compiz marche bien quand j'ai juste un écran d'allumé, ca n'arrive que lorsque je suis en dualscreen. J'ai bien essayé de rajouter l'extention composite au xorg.conf mais ça ne change rien. Et quand j'installe xserver-xgl, que je redemarre X, et que je veux faire des réglages dans nvidia-settings, j'ai un message qui me dit que je n'utilise pas les pilotes nvidia!

Fait voir ton xorg.conf et pourquoi pas ton /var/log/xorg.0.log

Et bien as ta place je ferais une sauvegarde du xorg.conf.

Et je repartirai de zéro avec la commande

sudo nvidia-xconfig

Qui créera un nouveau xorg.conf tout propre. Il faudra le peaufiner un peu au niveau du clavier en reprennant ce qu'il y a dans l'ancien.

Ensuite, après redémarrage de X, tu devrais pouvoir configurer twinview depuis l'utilitaire nvidia-settings.



Ceci dis c'est peut-être seulement la ligne

Option         "TwinView" "0"

Dans la section Screen qui t'empêche de configurer twinview depuis nvidia-settings.

Et aussi je suis pas certain la section

Section "ServerFlags"
    Option         "Xinerama" "1"

Soit compatible avec twinview.

En changeant les twinview à 1, ça ne change rien, toujours pas moyen de l'activer dans nvidia-settings. En changeant Xinerama à 0, ca donne le même résultat que si je le faisais dans nvidia settings (je me retouve avec 4 tableaux de bord, 2 sur chaque écran en fait, et toujours pas moyen d'avoir compiz.

Je vais faire un sudo nvidia-xconfig pour voir mais sans conviction, et je te tiens au courant. Merci pour ton aide!

edit; bon ben ça revient au point de départ, ni plus ni moins. Je désespère... sad

dans la section modules.

as-tu l'accélération matériel d'activée ?

Déjà essayé de changer twinview dans xorg.conf ça le laisse toujours grisé dans nvidia-settings, pas moyen de l'avoir.
Quand à l'acceleration materiel oui je l'ai.

scuse d'insister mais t'as bien essayer (de modifier ton xorg.conf) en modifiant aussi "Xinerama" "1" ?

si oui, là je sèche, désolé...

oui j'ai bien essayé ^^

Moi aussi je seche, avec une 7600GS j'avais aucun problème, mais depuis la 9800GX2, pas moyen de résoudre ce problème!
Enfin elle a deux chipset ça devrait être plus facile au contraire... J'ai vraiment du mal à comprendre ><

ben j'avais le meme blem ke toi, moi j'ai une 8400GS

JaJaX: beryl n'était pas compatible avec xinerama, je pense que compiz non plus.

je confirme compiz n'est pas compatible avec xinerama

la solution est d'avoir le duelview avec TwinView.

il faut executer nvidia-settings avec la commande sudo pour pouvoir enregistrer les modifications dans xorg, et apres il faut redémarrer le serveur x.
quand tu clic sur le boutton apply ya rien ki se passe car il faut redémarrer le serveur x.

Si tu lis mon premier post, et les autres aussi, tu vois que je ne peux PAS cocher twinview puisque la case est grisée, IMPOSSIBLE de la cocher
