"Mounting root file system" Boot super lent

Bonjour
Je viens d'installer Dapper sur un PIV Dell Dimension 4600, tou fonctionne, mais le boot (seulement l'étape "mounting root filesystem" est super lent).

Désolé c'est un peu long mais vous savez surement trouver mieux que mois ou est le problème: C'est vers les "dma timer expiry" que ça prend des plombes.
J'ai essayer ce que j'ai pu trouver sur le forum sans trop savoir ce que je faisait pour le dma
j'ai modifier hdparm.conf comme ça mais ça n'a rien changer et j'y croyait pas trop de toute façon

Bonjour,

j'ai quasiment le même problème sur un Portable Fujitsu Siemens E8020.

Je dis quasiment car je n'ai pas de message d'erreur (dmesg ==> DMA).

J'ai résolu mon problème en installant un noyau 2.6.15-386 et non pas une version 686.

En plus d'accélerer le passage du "Mounting root file system" cela m'a permis d'accélerer
la partie graphique.

En outre, il y avait une breezy sur ce portable qui fonctionnait parfaitement bien avec un noyau 2.6.12-686.

J'ai juste fait une maj vers Dapper, cela m'a permis de conserver mon noyau 2.6.12-686 qui fonctionne très bien aussi sous la Dapper et qui surtout ne me ralentit pas le système.

En lisant les forums à droite et à gauche, j'ai l'impression que cela pourrait provenir de l'ACPI et de la DSDT.

J'ai suivi une doc pour vérifier la DSDT du portable qui se trouve être buggué, j'en suis là mais sans assurance que le problème vienne de là smile

Enfin avec le noyau 2.6.15-386 ça fonctionne mieux.

salut, j'ai eu ça aussi et en changeant dans mon hdparm.conf io32_support = 1 par io32_support = 0 plus de dma timer expiry... peut être que le disque accepte bien le dma et pas le 32bits...
