[Résolu] pb avec bittornado

bonjour,

Mozilla fails to download certain files, like .torrent files and produces the
following error in the javascript console :
Error: uncaught exception: Permission denied to get property RegExp.constructor

What is strange is that if the mozilla preferences directory (~/.mozilla) is
deleted, downloading files works again, but only ONCE.
After that you have to delete the preferences folder again . It also seems that
completely removing mozilla-firefox package
and it's reinstalation causes the same behaviour.
Also this error happens for .iso files and a few others.
Also, this seems to happen after installing the mozilla security update this
morning.
My version is 1.0.2-0ubuntu5.4 (Hoary)

I set the severity to critical, as I think is a pretty bad thing for a browser
to "forget" how to
download files after a security update.

Yes, I have the same porblem.

Firefox doesn't show window "for select way to download" after the second time
that I start it.

At the first time that Firefox is launched the window "for select way to
download" is showed.

Excuse me my bad english.

The problem happened after I install the last security update.

problematic version: mozilla-firefox 1.0.2-0ubuntu5.4 (the last security update)
-> file: pool/main/m/mozilla-firefox/mozilla-firefox_1.0.2-0ubuntu5.4_i386.deb
-> md5sum: 83ed14939ec232417f80a14165ec2261

In my case is for any file (.exe, .pls, ...),

This problem doesn't occur in mozilla-firefox 1.0.2-0ubuntu5 (from the ubuntu
iso CD)
-> file: pool/main/m/mozilla-firefox/mozilla-firefox_1.0.2-0ubuntu5_i386.deb
-> md5sum: 36796e94132fda6d8a974af2ddc05c47

well, there's more. on my computer, since the security update, try to press
ctrl+h or view->sidebar->history.
instant crash. on the console it write "Segmentation fault" (i know that's not
very useful but it shows it's not a bad manipulation of mine). Worked fine
before the security upgrade.

Hi there,
Yeah same problem here. After the security updates (mozilla-firefox and other
package updates for Ubuntu), firefox doesn't download anything. It doesn't even
display the download window.
I think it's a problem with some other packages that were updated.

For now 'right-click save link as... works for me

Cheers

i have this problem too,

and i think the bug is in the compatiblity.ini file.

[Compatibility]
Build ID=2005072020
                 ^^

i removed the last "20" - set this file as root and readonly - and now it works
fine here

The .ini file alteration does solve the download problem, however :
- The crash on ctrl-h remains
- The download issue is still open, as the user should not be
forced to alter that file himself.

Should be fixed in USN-149-2:

mozilla-firefox (1.0.6-0ubuntu0.1) hoary-security; urgency=low
.
   * Backporting broke many extensions and introduced other regressions; update
     to the complete 1.0.6 upstream version. (Ubuntu #12882, #12854)
   * browser/app/profile/firefox.js: Revert Ubuntu change of fixing
     general.useragent.vendorSub to "1.0" to be able to install addons again.
     (Ubuntu #10681)
