Wifi de garc#%! !!! hum...pardon!

Excusez-moi pour ce petit emportement dans le sujet du titre....
Je dois en être à 24heures de recherches / tentatives pour installer ma carte wifi (en fait chipset artheros 5005G)... Je commence vraiment à me lasser là ...
Je suis d'autant plus déçu que ce n'est pas ma première tentative de passer à linux (au moins la troisième en cinq ans) seulement à chaque fois un problème de ce type (driver, config, que sais-je...). Je pensais que cette fois c'était la bonne.... Pas sûr...  :-(
Et je ne me suis pas encore occupé du double écran avec ma carte graphique...  ATI X200M (à croire que je cherche les emmerdes.... en fait, je viens de l'apprendre...).

Je mets toutes les infos (du moins, celles que je connais...) sur ma config (au cas où cela parle à quelqu'un :

J'ai essayé avec ndiswrapper mais... rien!.. donc désinstallé depuis (en suivant la doc ubuntu),
j'ai le wireless-tools d'installé,

je me débrouille en algèbre (la preuve j'ai réussi à poster ;-) )
j'aime l'aikibudo,

Ohlala, tu m'as pris pour un novice!.. que je suis   ;-)
En fait, le paramètrage en mode graphique c'est ce que j'ai fait en premier!
Je n'ai pas de problème particulier pour la config d'un réseau wifi.... enfin sous win$ !
J'ai essayé avec ndiswrapper, madwifi, update et upgrade (?) de kernel, sous ubuntu 64bits (apparemment encore plus de contraintes ?? en tout cas, il ramait sur mon portable), ...

A propos du tuto que tu as mis en lien, y sont dévoilés, en bas, deux formules magiques (j'exagère...) que j'ai essayé :
iwlist ath0 scan    -->         ath0      No scan results
iwlist wifi0 scan    -->         wifi0     Interface doesn't support scanning.

Il y'a vraiment un problème entre ce wifi0 qui sort de je ne sais où (puisque non indiqué dans network/interface) et ath0 (qui semble être l'interface de ma carte wifi)....

on voit que tu n'as jamais lu le man de wget ou mplayer lol

le mieux que tu puisses faire c'est de rajouter une section dans ton /etc/network/interfaces pour l'interface ath0, en te servant de l'exemple du tuto, et en l'adaptant pour que ça colle à ta config (celle que tu avais sous Win); à ce sujet, le fichier 'interfaces' que tu cites ne correspond pas à ton "ifconfig", pourquoi? en aurais-tu oublié un bout?
une fois ceci fini, l'interface devrait être "up" après un reboot si tu as mis "auto ath0", ou tu peux faire un "sudo ifup ath0" (ifdown pour arrêter).
ensuite, la commande "iwlist ath0 scan" renverra ton routeur...et celui de tes voisins wink

Le fait d'utiliser network-manager 'court-circuite' le fichier /etc/network/interfaces qui ne doit plus contenir que les lignes

c'est justement que se trouve le probleme...
D'où sort ce wifi0 dans ifconfig??  moi pas comprendre...
Il est vrai que dans le gestionnaire de peripheriques, il y a deux références en dessous de artheros 5005G :
- wlan interface
- unknown device (la cause, ou, au moins, un symptome )

De plus dans dmesg, il y a quelques lignes qui me paraissent surprenantes :

moi aussi j'ai une carte wifi atheros 5005g avec un portable fujitsu siemens amilo a1650g.
j'ai réussi à avoir le wifi mais par l'intermédiaire de mon dongle thomson via ma livebox inventel.
désolé de te l'apprendre mais madwifi 0.92 ne gère plus la carte wifi (voir la doc sur leur site)
si tu as une livebox utilise ou achète le dongle thomson (je ne me rappelle plus la référence) et il faut utiliser ndiswrapper avec le driver sys163.inf (à trouver grâce à gogol big_smile)...
si tu as une livebox inventel je pourrai t'aider pour configurer...

Existe-t-il des dongles (?) pour la freebox? Ou, disons, une technique similaire?

le seul matériel spécifique à la Freebox est la carte PCMCIA qui va dedans; coté PC, n'importe quelle interface Wifi (carte ou dongle) fera l'affaire, à condition de fonctionner sous Ubuntu.

ifconfig = liste toutes les interfaces réseaux existantes et actives
ifconfig -a = liste toutes les interfaces réseaux existantes
iwconfig = liste uniquement les interfaces réseaux sans fil.
