NVIDIA X Server Settings - ne sauvegarde pas !
Help !
Voila je me présente, Alan, suite a une longue histoire de de haine (crash intempestif d'une machine sous un OS propriétaire mondial) j'ai décider de me mettre à Ubuntu 6.10 !
N'ayant jamais touché a Linux de ma vie, je suis dedans depuis au moins 72h00 ! LOL
Plus sérieusement j'ai commencé avec une ATI 9250 et vu la galère aussi j'ai mis une GeForce 7600Gs 512Mo et la le plaisir de l'intall avec Envy est un vrai régal (surtout après une nuit blanche avec l'ATI)
Tout fonctionne a merveille c'est a dire TwinView sur 1 LCD compaq 19" en 1280*1024 /DVI - ecran principal + LCD IIsonic 15" 1024*768 /VGA - écran secondaire de droite.
Cependant si je sauvegarde avec le bouton "Save To X Configuration File" vi le soft de Nvidia ca n'enregistre rien et au démarrage suivant je me retrouve à recreer mes profis Twinview.
Si je recup le Xorg.conf que Nvidia veut enregistrer et utilise la commande
$ sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf et que j'enregistre ainsi ca marche (le fichier le prend) mais au démarage suivant c'est le crash de Xserver et le clavier se retrouve en Qwerty !
Alors que dois je faire ?

Mon but : TwinView (puis Berryl)
Ecran principal en DVI 19" - 1280*1024
Ecran secondaire (à droite)en VGA 15" - 1024*768
Et en Prime le tableaux de bord qui se limite à l'écran principal (qu'il ne déborde pas sur l'autre sinon j'ai que celui du dessous ou celui du bas et c'est la galère !)

Utilise le tuto twinview pour éditer directement le xorg.conf, tu verras c'est pas bien compliqué

edit: tiens, et si tu essayes de lancer nvidia-settings avec "sudo nvidia-settings", ça sauvegarde mieux?

Donc en suivant tes conseils j'ai essayer le tuto et l'est adapté en ajoutant :

Ca marche mais l'écran principal (ou l'on saissit le mot de passe de debut) est le petit 15" de droite !
Comment déclarer le 19" comme principal et le 15" en secondaire ? Dans la config j'ai positionné par rapport au 15" du coup.

c'est étrange ! cette fois ci j'obtiens un bureau plus u moins table comme je le veut mais le son a totalement disparu !
Y 'a t il un relation de cause a effet ?

J'ai 2 fois VIA8235 a coté de ALSA et ESD /OSS
et je me suis refait ca :
