[Feisty amd64 ] driver pour GeForce FX Go5650

je suis sous Dapper amd k8 et j'ai installé les drivers nvidia en tapant

sudo apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-`uname -r`
sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx
sudo nvidia-xconfig

ensuite j'ai redémaré mon pc j'ai vu le logo nvidia, youpi ça marche... et ben non!

en fait mon ecran freeze dès que je lance firefox. apres plusieurs reboot, réinstallation des pilotes et 2h de lecture sur ce forum j'en viens à poster parce que je ne vois vraiment pas ou est le problème et c'est très embetant.

si vous avez des idées merci d'avance

Cela vient peut etre des drivers ou de ta carte....sans autre precisions...perso je ne peux pas t'en dire plus !!
Déjà quelle est ta carte graphique ??
Sinon tu pourrais aussi essayer d'installer les derniers drivers nvidia (qui peut etre corrigent ce bug ?) en suivant le lien dans ma signature.

c'est une GeForce FX Go5650. merci pour le lien j'essayerai mais c'est vraiment bizarre on m'avait dit que ca posait aucun probleme nvIDIA sous Dapper meme pour les 64bits... c'est genant

Je pense que ca doit etre ta carte graphique un poil "exotique", les utilisateurs de GeForce Go ont souvent des problemes avec les drivers nvidia...et je ne pense pas que ca vienne des drivers 64bits.

j'ai vu que tu avais fait un topic sur les nouveaux drivers nvidia alors je vais les tester dès que j'ai le temps, je mettreai à jour ce topic dès que je trouve le truc !

voila du nouveau !

apres avoir laché l'affaire pendant un moment et puis apres avoir installé Edgy, j'ai réessayer l'install des drivers sans résultats.
J'ai testé avec le tuto nvidia.run, la compilation manuelle et le script "envy" mais rien n'y fait, apres reboot mon serveur X ne veut pas se lancer.
Je commence à désespérer, je ne veux pas avoir a acheter Vista!!! aidez moi !!:D:D

edit : j'ai essayer aussi avec automatix et j'ai eu un meilleur resultat, je voyai l'ecran Nvidia, je pouvais me logguer et profiter des drivers pendant 5 minutes ! apres, ca freeze... je suis desespéré

je viens de voir ca sur le site de nvidia :

Les produits mobiles (GeForce 6 Go, GeForce FX Go, GeForce4 Go, GeForce2 Go, Quadro4 Go GL, Quadro FX Go) ne sont pas acceptés par les pilotes de référence NVIDIA. Référez-vous au manuel fabricant pour connaître quelle est la dernière version du pilote.

c'est grave docteur ?

Si on regarde le paragraphe en question dans le readme de nvidia, voila ce qu'il faut faire :

An edge-triggered interrupt means that the kernel has programmed the interrupt as edge-triggered rather than level-triggered in the Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller (APIC). Edge-triggered interrupts are not intended to be used for sharing an interrupt line between multiple devices; level-triggered interrupts are the intended trigger for such usage. When using edge-triggered interrupts, it is common for device drivers using that interrupt line to stop receiving interrupts. This would appear to the end user as those devices no longer working, and potentially as a full system hang. These problems tend to be more common when multiple devices are sharing that interrupt line.

This occurs when ACPI is not used to program interrupt routing in the APIC. This often occurs on 2.4 Linux kernels, which do not fully support ACPI, or 2.6 kernels when ACPI is disabled or fails to initialize. In these cases, the Linux kernel falls back to tables provided by the system BIOS. In some cases the system BIOS assumes ACPI will be used for routing interrupts and configures these tables to incorrectly label all interrupts as edge-triggered. The current interrupt configuration can be found in /proc/interrupts.

Available workarounds include: updating to a newer system BIOS, trying a 2.6 kernel with ACPI enabled, or passing the 'noapic' option to the kernel to force interrupt routing through the traditional Programmable Interrupt Controller (PIC). Newer kernels also provide an interrupt polling mechanism to attempt to work around this problem. This mechanism can be enabled by passing the 'irqpoll' option to the kernel.

Currently, the NVIDIA driver will attempt to detect edge triggered interrupts and X will purposely fail to start (to avoid stability issues). This behavior can be overridden by setting the "NVreg_RMEdgeIntrCheck" NVIDIA Linux kernel module parameter. This parameter defaults to "1", which enables the edge triggered interrupt detection. Set this parameter to "0" to disable this detection.

Plusieurs solutions te sont proposées, teste les et dis-nous ce qui marche.

me revoila, je viens de passer sous feisty en esperant une resloution de mon probleme, ca fait maintenant plus d'un an que j'essaye en vain d'intaller les pilotes nvidia...!

j'ai retesté les méthodes indiquées plus haut sans succès et le script envy ne marche pas avec feisty...

bref je suis toujours au meme point, le dernier message de Lestat the vampire etait plein d'espoir mais je ne capte rien a la doc nvidia...

si vous avez de nouvelles explications et solution elles seraient vraiment bienvenu... mercii de votre aide

EDIT : j'aimerais savoir dans quel fichier faire les modifications indiquées dans le post de Lestat the vampire ( ce qui concerne le "noapic" et le "NVreg_RMEdgeIntrCheck") j'ai beau cherhcer je ne trouve pas.

Si je peux apporter ma petite pierre à l'édifice, j'ai le meme souci avec ma nvidia Geforce FX5650 sur un portable AMD64 sous Ubuntu Feisty AMD64. Après installation du driver nvidia-glx-new comme conseillé dans la doc et remplacement de "nv" par "nvidia" dans "Xorg.conf", je redémarre et un magnifique écran bleu (aux motifs rapelant ceux de windoze tongue) finit par apparaitre, m'informant d'un problème majeur de l'affichage rendant impossible la poursuite du démarrage. Voilou, mes maigres connaissances ayant trouvées leur limite dans ce domaine je n'ai jusqu'ici pas trouvé de solution à ce problème malgré mes recherches.

voici ma config
portable ASUS L5D AMD64 Geforce FX 5650
sous feisty interrupt 5 partager entre carte (module nvidia) et module usb (ohci_hdc)

pour cela regarder si il n'y a pas conflit au niveau des IRQ

cat /proc/interrupts

cf ma soluce ... (modif des option au démarrage de grub )

PS : svp scroller les log bo***l !!! c'est trés pénible a lire ou alors juste les ligne d'erreur marqué (EE) (en fait surtout la 1er wink )

euh tout roule .. non pas tout a fait.. plus de gestion de l'ACPI (appui sur ton bouton de marche .. l'ordi s'éteint tt de suite) ... etc..et tout les blem que ca peut engendré au niveau gestion alim (je pense notament au routine 3Dpowernow d'AMD qui doive reposer la dessus pour la conso du CPU)


... et d'autre part je m'apercoit que si je lance une appli OpenGL .. d'autre lancemtn d'autre appli mm simple interface GTK devienne noir .. ca le fait chez toi aussi Kerlam?
mais ca c peut etre que j'ai utiliser les tt dernier driver via le script envy...
(bon cette fois ci promis je m'y colle pour faire qqchose de propre)

PS : kerlam scroll vraiment sur ton ancien post le log stp .. pense au autre wink

Oui, c'est vrai qu'il ne s'éteind plus tout seul comme avant et que je n'ai plus l'icone de niveau de batterie dans ma barre de tache mais bon, au moins la 3D fonctionne c'est un moindre mal. Tiens nous au courrant si tu as trouvé le moyen de palier à ces petits inconvénients. wink

Pour le problème avec l'OpenGL, de mon coté ça ne semble pas etre le cas mais je n'ai pas tout testé à fond, juste un glxgears après le premier redémarrage et quelques jeux en 3D, rien de plus.

Qu'entend-tu par "scroller le log sur mon ancien post"? Désolé je ne suis pas un familier du dialecte de la tribu. tongue
