Pour ceux qui voudrait installer XGL-Compiz sur des RADEON <9500

Methode pour installer fglrx et XGL sur des cartes inférieurs a la RADEON 9500.

Beaucoup de personnes (dont moi) ont des problemes avec le driver libre RADEON sous XGL. Je sais qu'il y a deja des post sur ce sujet mais c'est eparpillé.

Pour XGL, fglrx (le pilote officiel) marche beaucoup mieux que le pilote RADEON. Mais aujourd'hui fglrx n'est disponible que pour les cartes superieur a la ATI RADEON 9500.

On alors va installer fglrx, puis remplacer libGL.so.

Tout dabord, installer l'acceleration 3D avec cet methode : http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=2487

Ensuite ne rebootez pas mais telecharger ce fichier http://www.ground-impact.com/libGL.so.1.2 (Clique droit Enregistrer-sous) sur le bureau.

Puis copier ce fichier dans /usr/lib/ :

sudo cp ~/Desktop/libGL.so.1.2 /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2

Reboot.

Maintenant vous pouvez installer XGL avec cet methode : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/applications/xgl/gnome

Voilà.

(Si ca ne marche pas, c'est peut etre normal, j'ai tester sur un seul PC)

Pour les cartes inférieurs à ATI 9200se c'est AIGLX avec le driver Radeon qu'il faut utiliser à la place de XGL (c'est la même chose mais optimisé pour le driver libre).
L'avantage, outre le fait de rester dans le libre, c'est que l'on garde la possibilité de faire tourner des soft utilisant l'open GL (économiseurs d'écrans, jeux, softs pro). Si on veut désactiver compiz une petite icone dans la barre de notification fait ça instantanemment.

Et à titre d'exemple mon Xorg.conf (je tourne sur un protable avec un écran 1400x1050 alors attention au copier/coller. En plus ce Xorg permet de detecter lorsqu'on branche un écran externe et de descendre la résolution automatiquement à 1280x1024):

Merci, j'a mis ce post pour aider les gens qui ont galéré avec XGL, AIGLX est difficil a installé ? (pas trop de modifications etc ...)

Salut,

J'ai essayé avec ton xorg.conf mais j'ai du changer dans la première section Device le MetaMode pour le mettre à 1400x1050 pour avoir la bonne résolution sur l'écran du portable.

Mais ensuite j'avais la même résolution sur le portable et sur l'écran d'à-coté (un écran à tube, 19 pouces 1280x1024)...

Comme un écran ? C'est possible, j'ai réussi. Je ne sais plus si c'était parfait (résolution, fréquence de rafraichissement) mais ça marchait.

Je reessaierai et je te donnerai mon xorg.conf

En clone j'ai réussi mais là ou cela se corse, c'est si tu veux avoir une résolution "exotique" sur l'écran externe (genre 1440x900 écrant large...)
