Ubuntu 16.04, GeForce GTX 960 (& Compiz?)
Bonjour tout le monde,
c'est mon premier poste sur ce forum que je consulte depuis pas mal d'années déjà. Il y a tout juste un mois je suis passé à Ubuntu chez moi lors de l'achat d'une nouvelle machine (j'étais auparavant sous OSX), étant aussi un utilisateur de Debian Server depuis 2008, je suis familier des GNU/Linux de cette famille et je me débrouille pas trop mal là-dedans, cependant les soucis graphiques sont tout nouveaux pour moi. Et c'est ce pourquoi je viens vous solliciter aujourd'hui, je coince comme pas possible sur mon problème...
Depuis l'installation d'Ubuntu (16.04) il y a un mois, je fais face à des gros problèmes avec mon interface graphique, il m'est très souvent impossible de déplacer/sélectionner/redimensionner les fenêtres, il semblerait donc que Compiz crash constamment.
Je vous résume vite fait ma configuration matérielle:
Carte graphique : MSI GeForce GTX 960 GAMING 4G
Carte mère: Gigabyte GA-H170-D3HP
Moniteurs: Dualscreen iiyama 24" LED - ProLite XB2483HSU-B2
J'ai consulté pas mal de pages à ce sujet, j'ai entre autres pris soin d'utiliser les pilotes propriétaires en l'occurrence la version nvidia-367, je me suis assuré que le pilote nouveau était blacklisté (ce qui est semble t-il fait automatiquement lors de l'installation des pilotes nvidia) et que dans CCSM le support de Unity était activé.

Quoi que je fasse, rien n'y fait... je me retrouve irrémédiablement à reboot mon PC et à relancer Compiz histoire d'avoir le contrôle de l'interface graphique un temps soit peu... j'ai aussi testé la version 14.04 d'Ubuntu et la 16.04 d'Ubuntu GNOME, le problème semble identique, sans parler des autres tentatives pêchées de ci delà qui furent infructueuses. Je m'en remets à celles et ceux plus expérimentés pour me guider dans cette tâche, il y a surement quelque chose qui m'échappe.

Bonjour,
le problème demeure malgré mes tentatives. Par magie dimanche dernier le problème s'en est allé. Par précaution je n'ai pas redémarrer la machine depuis, sachant d'expérience que celui-ci repointerai le bout de son nez. Mais subitement ce matin le desktop a freeze, il ne m'était plus possible d'utiliser l'interface. Je sèche complètement, si une âme charitable passe par ici pour m'aider à déboguer le problème, ça serait chouette.

Salut,
il est déconseillé de manipuler Compiz avec Ubuntu/Unity. Il est installé et paramétré on est pas sensé le toucher; Unity utilise obligatoirement Compiz sur les versions dont tu parles.
Gnome 3 (Shell) ne tourne pas avec Compiz. C'est Gnome 2 qui tournait dessus et était donc compatible Compiz.
Perso je bidouille un peu compiz en installant les plugin et CCSM et quand j'ai un bug je ne cherche pas à le corriger je supprime carrément ~/.config/dconf et ne touche plus le paramètre ayant entraîné le bug.
sudo rm -rf ~/.config/dconf ; sudo service lightdm restart
est sans doute ce que tu devrais faire, ça va réinitialiser le desktop unity avec les paramètres originaux.

merci de ta réponse. Le bug est apparu dès l'installation d'Ubuntu, je n'ai pas touché Compiz via CCSM si ce n'est que le support d'Unity était assuré (ce n'était pas le cas à l'installation), j'ai bien vu que c'était très périlleux de mettre les mains dedans.
J'ai reset les paramètres comme tu me l'as indiqué, je l'avais déjà fait auparavant avec moins de succès, je peux à présent utiliser l'interface.
Seulement après un reboot je suis à nouveau confronté au bug. Bon, ce n'est pas si mal, a priori ça a l'air de tenir jusqu'au prochain reboot. Merci!
D'expérience, aurais-tu des pistes de recherche à me conseiller?
Je me suis bien rendu compte que ce n'est pas entièrement lié à Compiz car, tu l'indique, Gnome 3 n'utilise pas Compiz et le problème était tout de même présent.

Le problème persiste en n'utilisant qu'un seul écran ?

Par défaut, sans installer de driver proprio nvidia, le pilote libre nouveau n'est pas convaincant / ne fonctionne pas ?

Bonjour Cœur Noir,
alors j'ai testé plusieurs versions des pilotes installés via le PPA, la 361, la 364 et la 367. Pour les trois, le problème subsiste.
De même par défaut avec le pilote Nouveau, le problème est là.
Je viens de tester avec un seul écran (non raccordé), le problème subsiste.
À ce propos l'un passe par le HDMI, l'autre par le DVI-D. Est-ce que cela peut jouer? ça vient peut-être bien de lightdm...

Bizarre. Le problème ne vient pas de Compiz, puisque ça déconne aussi sous Gnome.
Ne vient pas de Nvidia, puisque ça déconne aussi avec le pilote libre Nouveau.
Lightdm, c'est l'écran d'accueil, qu'est-ce qui te fait croire qu'il déconne ? https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/lightdm#confi … n_multiple
Que reste-t-il : problème(s) matériel(s) avec la carte elle-même ? Avec la RAM ?

pour en savoir un peu plus sur la RAM.
Les commandes
sudo lshw
et
sudo dmidecode
renseignent sur le matériel ( bavard, grep ou sortie vers fichier ). Les 2 devraient donner les mêmes réponses si tout va bien. S'il y a des différences, il faudra creuser…

Mais je ne suis pas assez compétent pour te guider davantage dans une procédure "scientifique" de diagnostic…
…si ce n'est déjà fait à ta place dans un premier temps je vérifierais l'état physique des différents composants CG, RAM, alimentation, prises : propreté, ventilation, connexions, câbles.

Après j'avais peut-être encore le jeu Rust qui tournait encore lors de ce top, ça peut peut-être expliqué l'utilisation du CPU à ce moment là

J'avoue oui, ça peut paraître gros.. j'ai fait le test en conditions normales d'utilisations chez moi, avec firefox (environ 20 onglets dont une vidéo), filezilla, thunderbird, des fenêtres nautilus un peu partout, trois terminaux,etc.. pas moins d'une dizaine de logiciels ouverts.
Je viens de re-tester avec le strict minimum, j’oscille entre 5% et 0,3% de CPU. Quoiqu'il en soit je regarde ça, il y a clairement un souci qui a besoin d'être débugguer. Là en relançant lightdm tout va pour le mieux.
Je recherche d'éventuels problèmes connus avec ma configuration matérielle et Xorg.
Pour décrire un peu plus le problème, après m'être connecté à ma session tout semble fonctionner, il suffit d'ouvrir une fenêtre pour ne plus pouvoir s'en servir. La chose "étrange" c'est qu'en cliquant droit sur une fenêtre firefox, ça se remet d'aplomb quelques instants... il suffit de vouloir manipuler un autre logiciel ou de scroller pour que ça se mette en carafe.

Ah super! Je n'y avais pas songé, il y a moyen que ça règle le problème.
Bon par contre vu que rien ne doit jamais être trop facile, je suis pour le moment coincé à une étape fatidique: accéder au QFlash.
De suite j'utilise un ancien clavier mac que j'avais récupéré il y a longtemps, en attendant de recevoir un clavier pc. Le truc pas rigolo c'est que sur ces claviers il n'y a pas de touche FN, nécessaire pour accéder au QFlash.
J'essaye de trouver une parade.

C'est ok, j'ai pu emprunter un clavier et mettre à jour mon BIOS directement vers la version F4.
Ceci dit le bug subsiste, dès que j'ouvre une fenêtre ça plante. Relancer lightdm règle le souci le temps d'une session.

Perso je changerais de carte graphique, mais je comprends que ça saoule bien à 250€ la bête. Essai un coup Windoz => Win10 (free for try sur m$.com), Gravage de l'USB avec
sudo dd if=win.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M status=progress && sync
et si ça marche pas tu seras fixé. J'imagine qu'elle est sous garantie alors il faut faire vite.

Salut pagetronic,
j'en avais parlé un peu plus tôt dans ce sujet, il ne me semble pas que ce soi lié (ou uniquement) à ma carte graphique.
Lors de la première installation d'Ubuntu (je venais de monter mon pc), j'étais déjà confronté à des problèmes graphiques que ce soit lors de l'install ou sur le Live USB; Compiz crashé.
J'avais alors testé sans carte graphique et le problème restait présent.
Dans le doute je viens de refaire le test en démontant ma carte graphique et en connectant un ou deux de mes moniteurs directement sur la carte mère.
Le même bug survient.
Est-il possible que ça soir lié à la carte mère ou à la ram? Ou directement lightdm/compiz? Quand je le relance, tout va pour le mieux et est stable.
Je n'ai pas eu tellement le temps depuis hier de poursuive mes recherches, il faudrait que je teste avec d'autres environnements graphiques, en dehors de Unity ou Gnome, peut-être KDE ou XFCE qui me semble t-il n'utilisent pas compiz ni lightdm.

La Ram et Ubuntu je pense pas, du coup la carte mère oui..
Gigabyte j'en ai que des mauvais souvenir perso.
Tu devrais tout essayer, mais la Ram je vois pas ce qu'elle viendrait poser comme problème dans ton cas.

Navré, la notification de ton dernier message m'avait complétement échappée.
Je ne suis pas chez moi dans l'immédiat, je te ressort le log dès que possible.
Depuis mon dernier message (07/07) rien n'a vraiment changé, j'ai toujours mon problème bypassé par un restart de lightdm, malgré le fait qu'il y ai eut plusieurs mise à jour concernant les éléments graphiques d'Ubuntu (linux-header, compiz, les drivers, etc).
